Honestly, this was one of the worst haircut experiences I've ever had - from customer service, to environment, to quality of the cut. I mean, it's even inspired me to create a yelp account, because when I was researching places to have my haircut beforehand, I'd really have appreciated some kind of warning.

First of all, I arrived at the salon and it looked like the premises were either just being moved into, or they were in the process of being shut down. The walls were dirty and the place was bare. There was paper everywhere. The head hairdresser was sitting on the floor behind the cash desk, and completely ignored me throughout. The trainee hairdresser acted very surprised when I asked whether something was going on. And this reaction was about the only reaction she gave me at all throughout, as she refused to engage in any kind of interaction.

I signed up for a trainee cut, and was informed the cut would be "fully supervised" and would cost £20. It was not fully-supervised. The quality was so bad that I'd be hard pushed to say that it'd have been value for money, even if it had been free. It was not free. The only "supervision" was that the head hairdresser wandered over towards the end, told the trainee that she had missed a lot of layers, and then walked out to have a cigarette while the trainee tried - and, even to my non-professional eyes, entirely failed - to correct the problem. Eventually, the head hairdresser came back, noted that the problem had not been corrected, and then walked away again.

After this had been repeated about four times, the head hairdresser deemed it OK. My hair looked nothing like we'd agreed at the start. I'd asked for a long bob, slightly graduated from the back to the front. I ended up with an overly-layered, mushroom-like mess, with a baseline exactly the same length all around. It looks terrible, even two weeks after the event. By the time we'd reached this stage, however, I didn't want to stay in the room anymore, and risk it being messed up further.

I really don't feel good writing such strongly-worded things about someone who's learning. But the point of being a learner is that you're supervised. This wasn't supervised. And, even if you're a learner, you can be nice to your customer. I felt deeply uncomfortable throughout.
