I do not get my hair done here, but have taken my teenager and it is a striking contrast to my own salon experiences. If you typically see a stylist that makes you feel super welcome and important and pampers you, this is not the salon for you. No one will greet you, if they're running late no one comes by to say anything, there are 2 couches in the middle of this very, very loud space with a few magazines, and there are no refreshments or anything. You may get your appointment canceled the day of and there's no one else who will cut your hair, you're just SOL and booking months out like it is a brand new appointment. I am not particularly impressed by that type of stuff and therefore I do not patronize this salon.
That said, the benefit of Station 8 is you can get a cut or color with a particularly skilled stylist. My kid wanted a side shave and Hannah did a really great job. It's kind of expensive, you can only tip in cash, you need to reserve your appointment with a credit card, and you really can have that appointment canceled because no one else can jump in and cover. I think if you set your expectations, figure out the stylist who can make your dream 'do happen, then you'll be a-OK. I called here and attempted to make an appointment. The first few times I called no one answered which is fine. When I finally got ahold of somebody, before even offering a date or a time or telling me what kind of time frame they were scheduling out, the person wanted my credit card information.
So I said to the person, "Well I'm not booking anything yet because you haven't told me what you have available, so we don't need to move to the credit card portion yet."
The person on the phone sounded bothered by this very logical step, and when she told me the next appointment was a month and a half in the future, on a workday at 1 PM, I said that wouldn't work for me and I was going to go somewhere else.
Why do you want my credit card number first? It's like going to a store and providing your credit card before you pick something out and decide to buy.... Nonsense.
Settle down with trying to get my money first!! I mean it's already off-putting that you have to put a credit card down for hair appointment, (as someone who always shows up for every appointment I have, and early). But I was willing to do that if that's what a business wants to do to get me to commit because people tend to be flaky.
However I don't think that this is a good practice, because it's kind of like treating all your customers like big 'ol flakes when there are only a percentage of people who flake. It's like locking down all the merchandise for your paying customers at CVS because there are a percentage of people who shoplift. It's a practice that makes sense for the business ONLY, not the honest customers.
They can do whatever they want with their policies, I just see it as off-putting.

A little rough start with scheduling my appointment with a gift card but low and behold the end of the experience outweighed it all. Alayna did my cut and color and it was everything I had asked for.
This place will double book your appointment so the stylist can see as many clients as possible. While my color was processing, Alayna was with another client. I didn't feel like I was ever waiting for her to come back, as processing takes awhile. She spent so much time on my cut I was so impressed, as it was just a trim with layers added. There coffee, water, or tea available for clients. I do know they do more than just hair too! I think massages and waxing. Love it here! Hanna does an amazing job with my hair. I love it and get compliments on the cut and color constantly. Entire staff is super friendly and helpful. Really appreciated their COVID precautions over the last two years as well!

This place is so unfriendly towards new customers, avoid at all costs. I left in tears after being told I had to pay for services i didn't receive because it was my fault for not asking how long my appointment was going to take. You expect me to sit for 3 hours for a partial highlight and trim? Seriously?? And they put a hair mask on while shampooing after I told them I had to go, so didnt even blowdry my hair for $150, so had to walk home in the cold with sopping wet hair. Ashley never even tried to talk to me once during my appointment, and my hair looks worse than when I went in. Sent them an email where I explained my nervousness around getting hair services done and how horrible my experience was, and no reply.

I am literally sitting under the dryer at Station 8 right now and needed to come write this review after/during a fantastic experience. I walked in, Fran at the front desk was delightful and told me where the restrooms were and offered me a drink.
My cut was by Hanna, who I LOVED that she took time in the consultation to listen, ask questions, really have a dialogue to make sure we understood each other before heading to shampoo. How woefully rare is that? The cut further underlined that she knew what I was asking for and how to make it a reality. My hair is not fully styled yet but I already love it.

What an awesome down to earth salon in the heart of JP. The moment I walk into the door, I am greeted with a warm and welcoming "hello"!
I had an appointment with Ben, he's such a cool dude! His positive energy flows throughout his body! It's hard to guess what hair color he will be wearing when I see him! He's a very talented stylist, with awesome ideas for my hair! Always ready for me when I arrive!
His head massage is awesome when I get a shampoo! The assistants are all kind and hard working. The other stylist there all enjoy their jobs just as much as Ben!
Call early to book an appointment, they fill fast!

So when the staff does a wonderful job dealing with a customer after a cancellation ( due to an emergency) the owner of this place decided that she was not happy that I wasn't charged for the appointment so took the freedom to lecture me and when I called her out on it she hung up. Keep your money.
