I wish Centre de Beauté Indienne weren't such an inconvenient distance from my apartment and my work.

The threading technique is just catching on in France and I think it's much better than waxing for facial hair. The women at Centre de Beauté Indienne are experts and the thead goes so fast you can hardly see it.

Threading leaves no pimples or redness. It costs between 5 and 10 euros and you can go without appointment. They also do waxing for bikini lines and legs. And ... they have great facials. I've only done the basic one, which consists of 1 hour of massages, steaming, creams and masks and costs 29 euros, which I need hardly add is almost half the price of a standard facial at a "normal" French spa. You're "supposed" to have a facial every month, finances permitting, and Centre de Beauté Indienne makes it possible.

Be prepared, of course, for the fact that going to the Centre de Beauté Indienne is not an "exclusive" experience, but "populaire," in the French sense, which means that you will have to tell them you want your mustache threaded in front of 20 other people and then you will be seated in one of the chairs right in front of the window and they will thead your mustache or chin or whatever in front of all passerby and people seating (or standing - sometimes it's very busy!). There is a TV blasting Bollywood videos in the corner.

If you have a facial, you won't be lying alone swathed in plush white towels in a dimly lit room with cheesy rock sculptures and a cd of babbling brooks and bird noises. You will probably be led to a small room in the back of the main room, where you'll take off your shirt and bra in front of other people who are getting waxed. The women who work there will talk to each other in Hindi or another language. The lights go on and off and there is a steady hum from the crowded main room where people are chatting and waiting and the Bollywood music is throbbing.

if you are not of Indian origin, you may be the only person not of Indian origin waiting in the waiting room and all the other women will stare. They seemed a bit confused by my presence in the beginning, but I persisted because even in Paris, with its huge immigrant population, even if there's a word for it in French, they don't really understand the concept of "brassage" (mixing -ie the fameux American melting pot) like they do in NYC where everyone and their mother gets threaded.

I love the ambiance. I think it's lively and actually soothing. I like that Centre de Beauté Indienne is so successful and busy. The other day I brought a friend for a facial at 11 am before the crowds arrive and the six women who work there were decked out in absolutely gorgeous colorful saris with immaculate make-up waiting to start the day. It occurred to me that they must be doing pretty well. I love the neighboorhood, in the 10th near La Chapelle, full of Indians and African-French women in coton batik dresses and turbans.

But, for those who prefer to be swathed in snow white towels in a dim room with fake rocks and a sea waves cd playing, then this is probably not for you.

A little sus in terms of area but really cheap solid eyebrow threading which seems to be hard to find in Paris. I haven't had them do a lot of shaping - just clean up. Very quick and they don't do appointments. I've never had to wait longer Han 5 minutes to be sat down. 7€ for eyebrow thread and 5€ for upper lip.

I stopped by for eyebrow threading and they did a great job. For €7 you can get your eye brows done and walk out in a few minutes. They had a few people waiting when I went there but I didn't have to wait long.

Also note that they are open until 7pm on Sundays.

I went to Stella the other day to get my eyebrows and upper lip threaded. As a threading enthusiast who has been getting threading done for several years now in place like New York, Boston, Salt Lake City, and now Paris, this place is what everyone has been saying: they do a great job when it comes to threading. I've been living in Paris for the summer and found the place via Yelp.

Side note: According to their website they have more than one location so some of the reviews on here may have been talking about other locations because the venue descriptions may match the one at Passage Brady.

      Pros:

*Quick, painless (I think the most painless threading I've ever received), and affordable. Every hair was removed!
*If you aren't fluent in French some of the women can speak a little English enough to communicate what you need to get done.
*The location is convenient: there are four metro lines that pass through the area (although out of Paris' city center) and is a quick walk from the metro from the KFC on the corner. It's not the snazzy and glamourous Paris that one might be used to as a tourist but it's perfectly fine and is a nice change in scenery from the touristy areas of the city. I didn't think it was sketchy at all.

      Cons:

*One of the women who was doing threading was using a facial brush (the one found at a barbershop to brush away access hair that has been cut off) all over the face of every single client that sat in her chair after she would thread them. I found that to be unhygienic seeing that it was used all over on at least four different women's faces during the time I waited.
*When it was my turn to have gotten threaded, the woman had just done someone else's nails and a pedicure and instead of washing her hands she used hand sanitizer before doing my brows. Kinda gross seeing that she just touched someone else's feet and her hands were so close to my face.

      Tips:

*Bring cash: credit cards can only be used for total amounts of at least 15 euros.
*Skip the lotion they offer at the end: I'm used to getting Aloe Vera in the States to soothe my skin after threading so accepted the lotion. The lotion wasn't anything special: it has a super strong scent that I didn't find fragrant at all and unfortunately followed me around for about an hour that I didn't need.
*If the person who threads you uses the facial brush and you don't want it speak up and tell them not to use it or just bring your own tissue to wipe off your just-threaded hairs.
*It's a small venue so be prepared to stand and wait if there aren't any chairs available.

Overall a good place to get your threading done. Just need to improve on some of the hygienic aspects between clients. Five stars for the threading but unfortunately had to dock off two stars because of the previously mentioned cons.

There aren't that many inexpensive places to get your eyebrows threaded in Paris. Stella is great: Convenient to most metro lines, painless, quick, €7. Bonus for foreigners: Some of the staff speak English well. Definitely recommend.

Just had threading done at this salon. I have had threading done for the last decade so I have experienced the gamut of techniques, including those in India.

I had a young possibly Nepalese or eastern indian technician (i did not take her name so this is all I can use to describe her). I would rate the technique 4/10 ( 10 = best), and I'm being generous. She tugged on a lot of the hair quite hard, leaving red marks on the skin for a long find afterwards. After years of threading my skin has become pretty resilient, and this almost never happens so she obviously did a particularly bad job.

The bad attitude of my technician was really what made me want to write this review. She was intent upon "making a point" about something or the other; in one instance making me get up to close the entryway door. No apologies no regard for customer service.

I wouldn't go back if they paid me. There's another Indian place in the same row offering threading service and that looked much more welcoming.

Horrible experience. I have been going to Stella for a couple of months now and each time I hope for the better. They treat me and my friend rudely. And to mention their finishing skills. Depending on who is attending to us we never get a consistent end result. Usually we do our eyebrows and upper lips. I even showed them a picture of a shape I want for me eyebrows and they completely disregarded it and said no blatantly. I Disapprove of their service and won't recommend this to anyone who value good service and hospitality in places like this.

Worked quickly with precision ensuring perfectly shaped brows. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a reasonably priced threading salon in Paris!

I got eyebrow threading done at this location. The lady (Nepalese) did a horrible job. I have always maintained an arched eyebrow and she completely made my eyebrows straight and disgusting! I have been getting my eyebrows thread for the last 15 years and this is the first time i had someone completely spoil the shape of my eyebrows. I also got my underarms waxed and the lady didn't have any clue how to do it. She waxed half of one underarm and then a more experienced person had to come to the rescue and finish the job. My underarm is swollen and hurting from the repeated waxing! The experienced lady waxed my other underarm, and did the job with just three tugs and its absolutely fine. Also they use a roll-on wax and apply the same roll-on on everybody, which I think is not a hygienic practice. Please avoid this place. They have very variable standards.
