I do not go to the Stumbling Goat enough, as I am impressed by the food every time I go here! The quality of the ingredients and preparation of the food are consistently excellent. Oh, and did I mention the doughnuts and pastries! They are probably some of the best in the city! Light, fluffy, fresh, and truly a surprise!

On to the food! From Duck Confit to French Toast, it is all excellent! They come up with some great food combinations here. Even a basic steak and eggs will come with a marvelous demi-glace. The other day I had a green chile omelette with bacon, and it was truly wonderful!

The staff are also very nice! As I've said in the past, My son has quite a few allergies . And they are very accommodating here!

Overall, this place is a must try!

      What a cute little bistro!

The boyfriend took my here on Valentine's Day in an attempt to take me somewhere I had never heard of (not hard considering all the good places in Seattle). The actual restaurant is pretty small so I would recommend making reservations, however the setting is intimate so it makes a great date spot.

Their Valentine's Day menu was a 3-course menu.

      Starters:

Cheese Plate - They had an optional cheese plate special that my boyfriend forced upon me. It had 2 samples of local cheeses whose names escape me, but both cheeses were surprisingly light and flavorful. I'd recommend it if you are a cheese aficionado.

Oysters Rockefeller - I love oysters, but I didn't really like this dish too much. It was overwhelmingly salty to the point I couldn't enjoy the flavors. Ah well, it was a lovely presentation.

Crab Bisque - The BF ordered this and I got to try some. They were generous on the dungeness crab, but it didn't seem to make a difference in the flavors. Honestly it tasted more like a really creamy tomato soup.

      Entrees:

Pan Seared Halibut - This was actually quite good, they served the halibut on a bed of seasoned shredded vegetables (think fancy cole slaw), so the oils of the fish soak into the veggies. Halibut was light and nicely seasoned and the sauce was yummy.

Rack of Goat - I thought it was fitting that a place called the Stumbling Goat would actually serve goat. I didn't get to actually try it, but from my observations of my boyfriend the meat seemed to come off easily on the bone. He seemed to enjoy it.

      Dessert:

Coconut Yuzu Cake - This was a perfect dessert! Light, creamy, and not too sweet, and the berry sauce paired perfectly with it. The texture reminded of a coconut ganache, but the acidity of the berries gave it a sweet "kick". In the description they said it was topped with "blackberry caviar", which was really just the bits of blackberry. It was a cute presentation though.

Pear Tart - Also delicious! Like a mini apple pie, only with pears, making it better. The boyfriend ate most of his so I only got to try a bite, but it was good.

Overall, we had a good dinner. My compliments to the chef and his staff for being creative with the menu items - though some items tasted a miss IMO, I do like the effort in creativity.

Last tid bit, parking is a bit difficult given that it's street parking only. We ended up driving past the restaurant and turning into a neighborhood where we found some street parking. The walk wasn't so bad either, so just keep your eyes out!

We used the Seattle Restaurant week to try the Stumbling Goat Café. They have happy hour from open til 6:30. We had a couple of drinks as we waited for their dinner service to start. The drinks were good, but pretty pricey.

We had one 3 for $30 and also asked for best choices on the regular menu. We tried many things: bone marrow, cod salad, soup, octopus salad, braised lamb... all in all... not great.

I thought the food to be bland and uninspiring. Though well plated and interesting looking, the flavor profiles were lackluster. It didn't taste nearly as good as it looked. The portions were small and the price was hefty. Not a good combo.

I'm glad I tried this place, but probably won't be returning.

It feels a bit unfair to leave a rating like this for a restaurant with such good things going on, but we went for food and the ratings are based on that.

We selected this place for Restaurant Week.

For $80, we received a small plate of asparagus, small cup of soup, a small plate of fish and a small plate of quail. Don't get me wrong, they're all beautifully plated it's just incredibly small portions. I'm not comparing it to an "All American have it your way" portion, either. It's literally kids meal sized portions that are very expensive.

Some of the seasoning blends were great, but my quail was dry and burnt. There wasn't one item I wanted to have a second time due to the portion size and taste.

On the up side, this restaurant had such good ambiance, spacing and lighting, my boyfriend actually complimented how I looked in the light (that's never happened before).

I love how the waiters wear regular clothes. One was wearing basketball shorts and sneakers. I found it entertaining (the idea of being at a fancy restaurant with servers dressed like that), and oddly comforting.

I went here with a good friend during restaurant week and was very pleased with my meal. The name of the place fits well - when you walk in its dimly lit and seems like the perfect place to "stumble" into on a cold dark evening to catch up with a good friend and share a meal.

Our server was sublime- so friendly and very candid with the dishes. I appreciate waitstaff that can confidently describe the food on the menu and ask you what you like/don't like to help recommend items.

Everything we had was super tasty. I didn't leave mind blown from this place but is a great neighborhood spot I am happy to have tried.

      Service was great.

      Food was good.

Ambiance was a little strange for a breakfast place. I'd suggest dinner instead.

Stumbling Goat is one of the few restaurants I've dined at for brunch where every person at my table (8 people total) cleared their plates. Yep, Stumbling Goat is THAT good!

Our server Tess was convivial and we enjoyed her personality and willingness to give us the lowdown on the menu items. (Be sure to listen for the daily specials; they generally have about 3-4 specials that aren't listed on the menu.)

      Brunch Recommendations:
      Duck Confit (A beautiful dish!)
      Croque Madame
      Anaheim Omelet
      Eggs Hemingway

You can't go wrong with any of those dishes, although I'm sure all the menu items are delightfully delicious.

Stumbling Goat also has a good variety of brunch cocktails to pair with your dish. We had a great experience and I can't wait to come back for dinner!

Went for brunch on Saturday around 12:30. Made reservation trough Yelp, no line at all the place had around 8-10 customers. Got disappointed cause there were no lines ;) but the food was better then I was was expected.
      Coffee less then average
Got specialty omelette - smoked salmon, capers ; not bad at all
      Pastrami sandwich - good
      Pork sliders - good
      Overall - above average.
If the place looked better or decor was better this place would have been packed :)

Would recommend to try them out. Not too overpriced not cheap too.

Atmos: Warm/Homey, slightly rustic, low and high tables and bar seating. Classy but not formal.

      Server: Friendly! knowledgeable. Attentive.

Free table bread: Good! Italian bread, served room temp with a tomato scented herb olive oil

Pear Baby Green Salad: Good! A bit salty with the sliced speck so be prepared! the leaves are giant (not so baby) :p the pear was perfectly ripe and the hazelnuts are a nice splash.

Wild Boar Bolognese: Great! Thick finely ground boar over fresh fettuccini. The flavor isn't powerful but it is balanced and nice.

With all my exploring in Phinney over the last few months, I'm not sure how I could've missed this spot! We went on a Wednesday and no reservations were needed (though it's better to be safe on weekends apparently), and got a nice table by the front. Noise level is ambient, tables are cozy but not on top of each other, and the feel is very relaxed.

Tried the oxtail soup special for an appetizer and my friend had the foie gras special app. Both were superb, but the soup was really well made, almost to a light stew. For dinner, my friend went with the pork cutlet special and I went with the hanger steak. The pork was great, and I know she liked it, but the 8oz hanger steak was just delectable and served at a perfect medium rare. And for only $24, I was very happy.

      Hazelnut pie for dessert- check!
      Suitable wine list- yes!
Cocktails - not sure... I wanted to leave something on the table to come back and try again next time...
