Excuse me for a moment while I channel my inner Valley girl: OMG. Tante Marie is, like, soooo adorbz!
If you're popping in for a lunch at this cute café and restaurant, be prepared to be overwhelmed by cute space, cute servers, and an absurd menu selection, from which it's apparently quite challenging to go wrong. Oh, and on top of all that, did I mention they have plenty of Belgian brew, too? Right.
The boy and I both opted for the 'assortment of savoury dishes' for a reasonable €16.50. His fish dish came with a shrimp croquette (rivalling any Japanese croquette I've ever had), quiche with salmon (which came off as very French to me), and tomato with shrimps (with a lovely presentation, but didn't wow me). Meanwhile, my Lorraine served up bacon quiche (nomz!), a cheese croquette (decadence), and a Parma ham focaccia (because... why not throw some more fat on top of fat?). Both dishes also came with butter, bread, and a large portion of fresh, crispy side salad.
Between the two 'assortments', mine clearly won out. Armed with ham focaccia and bacon quiche, there was no comparison. Not to say that his fish dish wasn't good... it just wasn't guuuuuud. *buffs nails on lapel* Take note, carnivores!
Also, check out the mini-mousse and cookie that came with our tea and coffee [http://bit.ly/poR5fd]. I mean... where -else- have you seen caffeine served with such an irresistible selection of sweets, gratis? I know, right?
Plus, to put the nail in the coffin, we sent along the boy's sister's boyfriend's friend (try to follow that line of logic) to Tante Marie, and he was so enamoured with it, he followed up with an email to me raving about it being the best meal he'd had in Brugge. If that doesn't make you want to go, I don't know what will...Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0
