The Bird

Came for Sunday breakfast. I came at 10 when they were first opened so it was quite empty. By the time I left , it was still pretty empty. I had the Pancakes and avocado toast. It was Delicious and my belly was full. The service was ezcellent. based on this, I would really want to go try the burgers too. It would seem like a fun place at night. The music selection is pretty good here. I recall Soul Asylum's "Runaway Train" and Ryan Adams' "wonderwall" among others

So disappointed by this joint. They have a similar restaurant in Berlin, and honestly it was the place for some of the best burgers I've had in Germany...so I thought I would give the Cologne joint a try and will not be heading back there again...

I did order take-out but the wings were undercooked, fries extra soggy, and the burger was disastrous and such a mess when I opened up the box..such a shame...I do really love The Bird based out in Berlin..

Cool hipster burger joint with friendly service and delicious food! The restaurant is relatively spacious for the location, and the waiters/waitresses were courteous, attentive, and totally fit the hipster-vibe. :) The place advertises itself as a New York-style place, but I have to say, it was much cleaner and a little more spacious than typical NYC burger places. :) The drink selection is good, with various craft beers, wines, cocktails, interesting juices, and specialty sodas (I recommend the spicy ginger).

We started off with an apple pie shot which was sweet and a nice starter to the meal. The chicken wing platter was delicious and offered various chicken wings- crunchy and spicy- with two kinds of homemade wing sauce that were out of this world. They also added celery and carrot sticks, which I haven't seen here in Germany but was a nice throwback to the States ;) Salad was fresh with homemade guacamole and ranch dressing, so I was actually pretty full by the time the main entrees came. There are a good number of creative burgers on the menu; I ordered the Big Rock, which was a burger with bacon and jalapeños. I loved that the jalapeños were fresh and not canned, and the portions were huge- so much meat! The chill cheese fries that we ordered with the burger were also extremely filling. Overall, the burger was decent, although the meat was a bit too salty and the texture slightly mealy. I would recommend the restaurant to work on the quality and taste of the burger, as this is the main selling point of the restaurant.
For dessert, we had the NY cheesecake which was AMAZING. I've been disappointed with the cheesecake I've tried in Europe, but this cheesecake was incredible- luscious and creamy with a buttery crust that rivals some of the best cheesecakes I've had in the U.S. I would seriously come here just for the cheesecake, that's how good it was.

One note- I heard that they have Happy Hour (6 wings for 2 Euros) every day from 5:00-7:00, which is also a huge plus!

Although my particular burger wasn't 5-star quality, the rest of the food, service, and overall experience earned 5 stars in my book. I would definitely come here again.

Anyone looking for a taste of America will surely appreciate the craft and attention to detail the owners have put into their amazing menu! The space is awesome too (see real-life Jaegermeister artwork). I highly recommend their steak 100% pure indulgence. Impressive American microbrews are available too. Perfect space for a huge group i.e. Birthday Parties! Can't wait to come back here again on my next trip through Cologne.

OH MY GOD! This place has the best burger I have ever had (aka a gourmet McDonalds Double Patty Burger).

My friend and I had made reservations for 8:15, yet when we walked in, a waitress greeted us and said we could sit where ever. She was so kind. We sat in the back at a four top and started glancing over the menu. While it was all in German, most of it I could understand and if not, GoogleTranslate was more than happy to understand for me. They gave us English menus as well, but I was too stubborn to accept. The waitress was adorable and spoke near perfect English. We ordered burgers with fries and Hard Cider. I also had a Caesar salad to start. Everything was delicious... like mouth watering delicious. We saved half of the burger to take home and I am eating it right now. We ended the night with the Cheesecake while the nicest man took our burgers away to be put into doggy bags. Between the attentive service, 90s music atmosphere, and the food this is my favorite spot in Koln. I wish I was staying longer to eat there again!!!

Very Good Burgers, juicy enough with classic & original combinations. I would not go for the starters though, they do not do justice to their burger dishes

Had the Bacon Stilton burger and it was very very good. I will revisit this place for sure.
