In researching spots to eat for our vacation to Scotland, we stumbled upon The Butchershop Bar & Grill, and booked in as soon as we saw that they offered a Sunday Roast!
We'd never done a Sunday roast before, and so, when we arrived, we were seated quickly, looked over the menu, and ordered:
(The Sunday Roast for 2 to share, 3 courses)
The Scottish Smoked Salmon appetizer
The Philly cheese steak appetizer (as an extra)
The Chateaubriand
Sticky Toffee Pudding.
The roast came with veggies, sauce, and a Yorkshire pudding.
Let me just say that every single thing we ate was delicious, but the steak...we'd never had chateaubriand before, and now...well that's all I want. Scottish beef is absolutely delicious. (I'm curious if they use Highland Cows for their beef, because if so, not only are the ADORABLE, but they're also DELICIOUS!!)
Let me also shout out the bartender! They make a wonderful cocktail! Morgan had a Rob Roy, and the Butcher's Smash is amazing.
I cannot recommend The Butchershop enough. Quality food, friendly and prompt service, great location...this restaurant has it all. I hope we will make it back someday!!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - 21. Okt. 2022
Nice restaurant not too far of a walk from the Scottish Event Center. We were visiting from the US and happened upon this steakhouse. We both got the same thing and also ordered red wines which were great. The fillet with hand cut fries/chips was a good portion. They also have the option of shareable steaks that you order based on weight, but we each got our own separate steaks. I was very full and thoroughly pleased after eating here!

We selected this restaurant for a family celebration and had the experience ruined by the rudeness and arrogance of the serving Waitress. It was behaviour that none of us ( I am 60 years old ) had ever experienced before.
Following complaint to the manager ( don't think this was the first time she had heard such a complaint ) the service charge/tip was removed from the bill but believe me we weren't going to be paying that anyway.
The bill was £ 360 for 6 people so not insignificant and for that you would expect the staff to behave with basic manners but clearly they feel they can be abusive to the paying guest with impunity.
The food was fair 6 or 7 out of 10 but we can only strongly advise others to avoidHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ee D.Shah Alam, Malaysia06220. Jan. 2022
Had dinner and also lunch there. The steak was good but we ask for medium rare and it came almost well done. The sunday roast we had fr lunch was also the same.
But it was still niceHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sophie K.Glasgow, Vereinigtes Königreich851507576. Okt. 2016
Wow. Just wow. I absolutely, hands down, understand why this is one of the best places to go for a steak.
The beans were rather undercooked, the steak was flawless, and so was the mac and cheese. The wine that comes with the deal is great and there is, in my opinion, no real reason to upgrade to one of their fancier wines.
The staff is friendly and professional, the restaurant itself is seriously cramped (probably because it was Tuesday evening at a time that everybody comes for dinner). However, this does not take away from the high standard of food that is delivered.
Just thinking about this makes my mouth water. I'm not sure about the restaurant division, it's an awkward shape and going to the bathrooms almost feels like going into the kitchen. This is however not in any way going to stop me from coming back. Ever.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Maggie M.Glasgow, Vereinigtes Königreich32347. Jan. 2020
Food here is great, no matter it is beef or chicken. The service is nice as well. You can be well hospitalized. I like the appetizer and the dessert as well. Also, the indoor environment is good!! Quiet and elegant with river view out of the window!

Dined at the recommendation of our company's local manager at this very well regarded Glasgow steakhouse "The Butchershop" with three other associates from our company.
This place earned 5 stars all the way... atmosphere, service, food and drink...all exceedingly well done by this independent steak house.
I started with a delicious crock of Tomato Soup which was rich and flavorful. For my entree, I chose one of their House Signature Cuts which are hung and dry aged for 35 days. My choice was the Côte de Boeuf...a special bone-in Ribeye which was served just as I had ordered it...medium rare. It was tender and wildly delicious.
My steak was complimented with really good mashed potatoes but I also sampled some of the biggest and baddest Onion Rings I've ever had on either side of the Atlantic.
The Butchershop was a great treat for our group and a chance to experience the good life of Glasgow.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Debbie B.West End, Glasgow, Vereinigtes Königreich6312431319. Juli 2015
Wow! I mean, just wow! Despite the Glasgow weather doing a convincing impression of a summer's day I'm sure there must have been a hurricane surrounding The Butchershop, because my mind was well and truly blown.
My friend took me as a surprise, for the Two for Tuesday deal, which includes 2 rump steaks (or burgers, but if you've got the chance for steak who would want a burger?!) with chips and a bottle of wine for £30. Inside the restaurant is smaller than the outer facade would have you believe, but had an air of coziness, if a little bourgeois. The waiting staff were just lovely, and the right amount of attentive.
But on the real meat of the review (bad pun, well intended)! I ordered my steak medium, with garlic butter, my friend took hers medium rare. We had the house red, which was fruity, yet dry, and there was always a jug of water on the table, and along with the mains we had a side of garlic mushrooms. When the meals arrived I didn't know whether to pick up my cutlery, or fall to my knees in praise. The rump was a giant, hunk of meat, slightly charred on the outside, but perfectly rosy inside. The fries were, obviously, as we're in the west end dahling, served in a basket, which was promptly emptied on to the plate. I honestly couldn't fault a thing. Both juicy, tasty steaks were cooked to perfection, the fries crispy, and the garlic mushrooms a pleasant accompaniment. The only thing I would change is next time I'm having the steak sans butter.
I don't think this is somewhere I could afford to eat if it weren't for that deal, as the a la carte prices are a bit on the hefty side (I'm sure the garlic mushrooms were about £6.50, as with most sides) as is the drinks, but it is definitely worth the Tuesday deal. I'd also book ahead to avoid disappointment, as it was pretty busy.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Katie B.Glasgow, Vereinigtes Königreich110551409. März 2016Aktualisierter Beitrag
We finally made it back for dessert! Once again, we were NOT disappointed.
The food:
Creme brulee and sticky toffee pudding. Both were absolutely brilliant. I only managed to sneak one bite of the creme brulee before my husband devoured it. That was a-OK with me though because I had my sticky toffee pudding. The sponge cake was perfectly moist, drenched in toffee syrup, with a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was terrific. Seriously, the best sticky toffee pudding I've had to date in Glasgow.
The service:
We ate in the bar because we only came in for dessert, around 6:30PM on a Saturday evening. They were busy! We ended up going to the bar to order since no one came over to us. The manager must've picked up on this because she ended up servicing our table the rest of the evening. She was a total sweetheart and told us all about the other special offers / promotions they offer.
Overall:
We plan to go back to try their Tuesday deal (two people, either steak or burgers, skinny fries & a bottle of wine for £30)! Our desserts were fantastic! If you've still not tried The Butchershop Bar & Grill... do it!! You will NOT regret it!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 04. I made a reservation via Opentable and put it was his birthday and a request for a romantic table in the notes. Upon arrival they manager was extremely welcoming and immediately took us to our table. It was fairly secluded and no one was seated next to us until we were ready to leave.
The meal...
Starters:
Goats Cheese Pannacotta
Pan Seared Scottish King Scallops
Main:
Chateaubriand (This is a meal for two.)
Hand cut chips
Mashed Potatoes
Garlic Mixed Herb Butter
Side Salad
The server was extremely attentive and brought our steak to the table for our approval because it was cooked. Talk about that special touch! It was quite a large meal but we ate every single bite. I'm convinced I could eat their garlic butter with a spoon on its own. We were too full to order dessert but saw other guests eating it and it looked phenomenal!
We've been dying to get back there again for dinner! I cannot say enough good things about the service, quality of food, and ambiance. If you're looking for a fantastic meal for a special occasion or maybe just because, look no further! - Stephen F.Glasgow, Vereinigtes Königreich1816521714. Okt. 2015
My mother in law likes steak, so on a rare visit down to Glasvegas we took her here.
We all ordered steaks and the meat itself was all very well cooked. So why three stars? Well, when I pay £30 a plate I want my plate to be warm. By the time I had my first mouthful of mash it was already cool. That's a big mistake in a supposed high end restaurant. That cost them a theoretical 1.5 stars and I rounded down for overly loud music.
Music too loud? Really?! Yip I know! I'm getting old because the inability to hear my dining partners conversation was really irritating.
For a place of this price I really need them to do better.
PS I like my mother in law there was no need to turn up the crap jazz.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
