Only went to The Cow for a drink, which was nice. However, this location is no longer The Cow. The Cow closed and has recently been replaced with a chicken restaurant called Reys.
Here's the local newspaper's report:

I've probably walked by every time I have visited Cambridge and never stopped in, but because of the reviews by fellow Yelpers, I thought I'd give it a go. My lunch buddy and I were on budgets as well... mine mostly because I anticipated a heavy day of shopping...
We walked in, there wasn't anyone behind the bar, so we weren't sure if we should just take a seat, but the people that walked in before us did, so we did too. Someone finally appeared and said to order at the bar. I found a lot of the things on the menu very delicious. As much as I wanted to try the burgers, because they are served in a bun with a vinaigrette dressed spring onion, soya bean and baby leaf salad with fresh chilli, coriander and tomato salsa on the side, I was really excited about some of the pizzas.
My lunch buddy and I were both drawn immediately to the Mediterranean Meat Medley pizza, however, we thought we should have two different kinds of pizza, so I went with my second choice, the Greek pizza. We also decided on an order of the Homemade Dough Balls, only 6 because we ordered two 12" pizzas and in my head the dough balls were a lot larger than they actually were (I know, I'm American... can't help these things). The lady said something about a deal, the lunch club deal. If you order at 12" pizza and a drink, you can get it for £6.75... which is a deal since both of the pizzas we ordered were just over £8!
The dough balls came out and they were slightly larger than marbles... and some of them were about as hard as marbles. The garlic butter to dip in, though, was fantastic! I think they should consider breadsticks with that garlic butter. For those of you (I imagine most of Britain) that use forks and knives, you'll have half of that combo... just the knife, so if you need a fork (the pizzas are a thin crust and some of the toppings have a habit of falling off when you pick them up), you'll need to ask for it.
The pizzas came out and they looked fabulous! The Greek had lots of toppings on it, but the Mediterranean Meat Medley seemed a bit bare. This is not an innuendo, but it could've used more meat. Typically I enjoy a thick crust, but this thin crust was wonderful, the amount of sauce and cheese was just right and there was chili oil on the table to drizzle over the pizza if you want a bit of kick.
I would definitely be back for another pizza or perhaps to try one of their burgers! Loved the ambience, the music was a bit eclectic, but again, the lunch buddy was a movin' and groovin' to it and they have a t.v. so if you were trying to catch a game (you know like a 6 Nations match), they have that as well! I bet it is a great place to stop for drinks in the evening!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 7. Dez. 2009
I find pizza express pizzas better.... though the 2-4-1 deals are great if you're on a student budget. I've only been in the upper-level restaurant area. The place isn't the cleanest, but I'd come back just for pizzas on tuesdays.

The cow is a popular stop-out for the students of Cambridge. Every night until 7 pm, the delicious stone-baked pizzas are by one get one free, making for a very cheap place to enjoy a tasty bite to eat with friends. (And on Tuesdays, this offer lasts all night!) Cocktails, too, are by one get one free. The atmosphere is great - very relaxed. And the staff are very pleasant as well. Pizzas are brought to your table very quickly after ordering - all fresh out the oven, and very delicious. My particular favourite is the Chinese-style Crispy Duck pizza.
If you go at a peak time, you will not wait more than about 15 minutes for your pizza, which is pretty impressive and makes it a very good place to eat if you need to be quick. Its central location, very close to the Grand Arcade, also makes it very convenient for a post-shopping bite to eat.
I have never felt like I was rushed to eat my meal, however, it is not the type of place you can go and enjoy a long and leisurely dinner. This is mainly because most people around you will be going for a quick bite, and so the atmosphere does not lend itself well to a long meal.
I would recommend the Cow as the pizza's are delicious and served quickly, and with the 2 for 1 offer makes it a fraction of the price of most other Pizza places in Cambridge, with infinately tastier dishes served.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (pinkfi…)Dublin, Irland018114. Mainly this bar seems to be used for people waiting for the theatre next door so can get busy for 45 minutes then be dead for the next 2 hours.
What has put me off this place in the past is that it was a little neglected and shabby but it's had some investment recently and now is really nice for a quick drink or bite to eat. There's a good cocktail menu too. Downstairs there is a room that hosts music and is available to hire. A good location in the centre of town and certainly a lot brighter and pleasant than previously. Worth a try if you had dismissed it in the past.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elaine Z.Alhambra, Vereinigte Staaten9693125. Jan. 2009
I studied abroad in Cambridge and would come here for 2-for-1 cocktails! A good variety of lovely, thin crust pizzas, many with delicious fried egg on top. Cheap fare for the Cambridge area.

LOVE the pizza here. It undoubtedly tops Pizza Express and all those other chain restaurants, especially Pizza Hut. My friends and I would skip lecture just to make their lunch special on Tuesdays and let met tell you, WORTH IT!

The Cow is a convenient bar/restaurant in the centre of Cambridge which is perfect for a quick bite before moving on. It satisfies the preliminary needs of hunger, but that is all. It's modern, up to date décor gives it a cold feel so being able to sit outside made the experience worthier of a 3 star! I would say the food is pricey, but for the area it's in the price is pretty standard. It's worth a visit if Cambridge is busy since it never tends to be very full and gives you a nice long lunch since the service isn't the quickest!

This place is perfect for a cheap lunch- they do amazing thin base pizzas with all sorts of original toppings and they have a deal on Tuesday where you can get 2 pizzas for the price of one! It's also a great place to go to just for a drink or a coffee. It's quite small and cosy and has several wooden tables jotted around. The kitchen is in sight from most of the area, so you can see the chefs cook your food right in front of you. It's a very easygoing casual place, no frills but lots of character and great munch!

Two-for-one cocktails on Thursdays. Two-for-one pizzas on Tuesdays. Good music, good scene, right next to the Corn Exchange. Downstairs has comfy couches and a secondary bar that's available from time to time. Overall, pretty good scene. I return there frequently.
