The Grove is a stunning resort, although I wish they'd come clean. People, this ain't Rickmansworth unless you stretch your imagination. It's in good old Watford, home of the team that Elton John supports, the place Ginger Spice went to school, and a hundred city centre bars (ok, slight exaggeration).

I like the meeting rooms, the golf course and the residential rooms. The spa area is also great for getting top-notch treatments and although it's pricey to stay there for extended periods, I've always found it completely worthwhile.

THEY WILL TAKE MONEY FROM YOUR CARD, BE AWARE! My client came back and instead of returning his deposit they took another deposit without authorization. He is trying to get it back, but they blame the credit card company they are doing business with and are still not returning the money! So now they owe him his deposit and another deposit that they stole from his account! He is emailing and all they can say is that understand his frustration and that it's not them who took the money, it's the credit card company that works for them /: Wow! I wonder if he didn't notice that the money was missing, would they just steal it? Shameful business practices! I will update if they return it, so far they didn't.

      Get treated like royalty!

Stunning grounds full of art, 5 star golf, 5 star restaurants and plenty to do when you are not in the bars, greens or grounds.

The Grove knows how to treat you and makes every penny worth spending there. Staff are really welcoming, friendly and great to chat to. They take the time to really get to know you personally.

Thanks to Luke the barman he made my stay perfect, but all the staff there do a really good job of making you feel the most important person.

      Food was fantastic.

The ambiance was superb and the wild decoration and art in all the rooms and grounds were a unusual touch to perfection.

This definitely is not in Rickmansworth. It's Watford! I stayed here for one night recently for a wedding and paid an agreed bridal party rate when I booked the room 6 months in advance of the date - the wedding itself was great but it didn't have much to do with the venue itself as the caterers and staff seemed to be external (Madhu's and they were all excellent).

Check in was very slow and we weren't even given directions to our room which was a bit tricky to find. The room was nice enough although the mini bar was a bit of a joke with tea and coffee seemingly included in the mini bar and not even a complimentary bottle of water was to be had. The bed was comfortable but the view from the window/balcony was a very high brick wall which was very disappointing. The bathroom was nice and had good quality toiletries with a bathtub as well as a walk in wet shower.

Breakfast was included in the price we paid although I've had better breakfasts at 3 star hotels and this is supposed to be 5 star - the bacon was rock hard, the toaster needed bread to be put through at least 3 times to get even a little toasted and the serving of orange and even water was ridiculously slow - they should just have common sense and allow people to help themselves to these if they can't get their act together. On checking out the receptionist argued with me over the room rate and tried to charge me an extra £120 even though I had paid the full agreed room rate at the time of booking 6 months prior and had proof of this. After faffing around for about 15 minutes he finally agreed that I had, in fact, paid the full amount already and his apology was about as half hearted as you can get after making me wait all that time with the queue behind me getting longer and longer.

I am writing this review because The Grove management never responded to my initial comments to them regarding the below situation.

This place claims to be a world leading hotel, but the service staff is the most racist group of people I have ever encountered. I am an Asian-American who was there with my British husband for one night while he attended a conference. Staff was wonderful to us whenever I was with my husband, however, in the morning that I was by myself, I walked into the bar/restaurant, and even though 6 waitstaff were standing around chatting and all looked at me and saw me sit down, none of them came to offer me coffee or any food. Each person that came in after me were greeted upon arrival and had coffee served within 5 minutes of seating. I waited around for an hour and left. When checking out, I was charged ~ £28 for breakfast. I told them to remove the charge because of the situation. The reception staff did not apologize or acknowledge how humiliating the situation was. My husband wrote to management and they never addressed the situation either. Unless you are a very Caucasian presenting person, don't waste your money at this hotel.

A hop and a skip from London, on 300 acres of Hertfordshire parkland and open countryside, a luxurious lap of luxury was unveiled in September 2003. The Grove was quite the fashionable spot in its glory daysduring the 18th and 19th centuries that is. The magnificent former estate of the Earls of Clarendon is about to remerge grander than ever.

Country Estate charm melds with cosmopolitan chic and ultra-modern technology to offer Londoners and visitors the ultimate escape via 22 rooms and suites with gorgeous balcony or terrace view of the surrounding gardens and parklands, linen-lined walls, original art, ornate marble fireplaces, porcelain chandeliers, plasma screen TVs, children's welcome box, newspaper

Says interior designer Mary Fox Linton: "So many things have influenced The Grove's designthe smells from the gardenroses, lavender, honeysuckle, as well as the taste of the best English food, with produce straight out of the kitchen garden on the estate, the touch and feel of soft, rich, textured fabrics."

Guests can wile the hours away in romantic formal gardens, scented spaces and private terraces. Or they lounge in the 19th century, five-acre Walled Garden complete with an 82-foot pool, space for 1000 people throwing a pool party, two tennis courts, a croquet lawn and a potager for herbs and flowers. The Grove's spa, Sequioa, will feature 12 treatments rooms and a purified salt-water vitality pool. The glorious championship 18-hole golf course was designed by Kyle Phillips to seamlessly blend into its environs.

Guests dine at Colette's, The Glasshouse or the more informal Stables in the golf house. Cocktails are taken in The Lobby Bar. Kids are looked after in a fully staffed nursery and via cooking classes, nature walks, tree house and kid's pool.

The intention was to bring together its aristocratic history, its grounds, trees, woodland and its proximity to London. The result is a breath of fresh country air mixed with the buzz of the city.

Beautiful hotel on gorgeous grounds. The rooms are a very nice size and the food was tasty. All the staff I encountered were beyond kind and accommodating. It's the perfect place to come if you want to get away from it all since it's pretty secluded.

Went here for the buffet lunch last Sunday. Had a nice pre-lunch drink on the outdoor terrace, surrounded by beautiful, tranquil gardens...and then tucked into a delicious array of dishes. The quality of buffet food clearly sometimes suffers, but this was a fantastic exception. Fish, meat, cheese, desserts. Serious diversity, but they did everything well! Not cheap, but on a $ per kg basis, I think I came out on top.

Stunning amazing food! Excellent service with polite and well trained staff. Location and grounds are very good and the food is better. Rather expensive though, especially for drinks
