Just what is needed after wandering around the nurseries in Crews Hill. A decent pint and a bar snack, or if needed, a full meal. Nice old fashioned pub with good, friendly service. Don't expect anything fancy because, as I said, this is a pub of the old type. Plenty of room outside if the weather permits and stacks inside. Give it a try if you are in the neighbourhood, you won't be disappointed.

I haven't set foot in here for a few years even though it's easy access from my office, I went there for a colleagues leaving lunch. The menus have changed slightly, not a lot, basic easy cook meals with little or no imagination. I had a chicken Caesar salad with bacon and a side order of cheese smothered chips. Looked quite appetising until I cut into the chicken and found it under cooked, so the bacon Caesar salad was quite nice, the smothered chips never materialised, one can only assume the smothering the infringes someone's human rights not to harm potatoes that may have had a traumatic start in life. Let's hope I can convince other colleagues to lunch elsewhere if they decide to leave!

This is were you need to take note, as this area is buzzing with the green finger brigade, and as this is the only pub within walking distance of the garden centres, then expect it to be busy, due to this the service can vary to be prompt to sometime this Millennium, so its not suitable for anyone expecting a quick hunger fix. Its popularity is due to them being a pub and not charging garden centre cafe prices. Their food can be enjoyed in the large conservatory and or outside as they have an attractive patio and a large beer garden. The quality of the food is what you would expect from a McMullen establishment and they do have some good guest ales from time to time. If you were out shopping for your garden, then you would find this a good place to escape from the horticultural overdose.

I just had lunch here with my wife. This is a beautiful old pub that has good atmosphere. i particularly enjoyed sitting in their conservatory which looks as if it was built in the Victorian era. The plates are beautifully presented and the service is good too. The only problem is the lack of flavour in the food. It is slightly on the bland side. On the other hand, maybe I'm asking too much of fish 'n chips!

I've eaten here a few times in recent years. As someone else has pointed out, at times this pub can get extremely busy. I wouldn't fancy my chances of a good experience on either a Saturday or Sunday afternoon during the summer months as this restaurant is completely surrounded by different garden centres.
The food here has always been good and the staff are always friendly.
There is a huge car park so parking shouldn't ever be a problem.
There is a playground on the grounds which makes a huge difference to my kids when we are deciding where to eat.
Personally I find the prices very similar to any other pub menu in the area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
