Unbelievably wonderful experience! The setting, the service, the food! I do wish more wines were available, but given that the menu is focused on a few delicious choices, the limited wine options are sufficient. Make sure you have a reservation as space is limited.

This is a go to place if you are in Oban. Call and make reservations as they have limited seating in this intimate little place. They were able to accommodate a party of 10 with no problem and then had three other tables of two.

From the view to the dessert you are guaranteed a delightful and memorable evening. A nice wine selection and beautifully presented meals that are as scrumptious as they look await your palate.

We absolutely loved our dinner last night - We started with the mussels in a coconut-chili-lime sauce. It was a giant mound of mussels and we ate them all up - delish! For dinner I had the scallops and monkfish skewers; my boyfriend had the halibut with lobster butter crust. Everything was perfectly fresh - I had no idea how delicious scallops could be. The halibut's lobster butter crust is a layer of flaked buttery lobster laying on top of the halibut. It's got great flavor and again - fresh as can be. For dessert I had the ginger pudding with caramel topping. Words can't describe how much I loved that dessert.

Service was friendly and prompt and the dining was intimate but not too formal. We had a great little conversation with the table next to us and left feeling completely satisfied. Can't recommend this place highly enough!

Absolutely fantastic. Had the seafood platter over looking the water and a bottle of wine while watching the rain fall. Great ambiance, good service and outstanding food in a private setting.

Glasgow is admittedly nearly 100 miles from Oban, but as it's still the nearest settlement of any considerable size to this little tourist and fishing town, and this restaurant is so unbelievably, unfalteringly brilliant, it had to be reviewed.

Situated on the waterfront about half a mile away from the busy part of Oban, this restaurant is fairly new, but has been the subject of almost universal acclaim since it opened. There's an ever-changing menu comprised of the local marine life, but there's really no need to bother with it, just go for the grand platter. It's £55, and a lot of eating for 2 people, but a great experience that's worth every penny.

You'll get a few wiggly, salty oysters to warm up while the rest of the platter cooks. When it arrives, you'll find it piled high with crabs, langoustines, prawns, scallops, mussles, clams, razor clams, and a whole lobster, all as fresh as you could possibly ask for.

It's perhaps not a meal for the over squeamish, as these creatures of the deep look exactly like they did when they were alive, but if you're a seafood fan like me then you'll relish every moment tearing those langoustines limb from limb. It's a wonderfully animalistic way to feast.

It's honestly among the best places I've ever eaten, with the only downsides being that it's often booked out a good few days in advance during tourist season, and the poignant moment when they bring out your lobster to meet you before his ruthless execution. Seeing the look on poor Freddy's face as he was led away to unspeakable horrors was tough, but the great taste of his flesh more than made up for it.

We have just come back from Oban and went to this restaurant last night. It was absolutely fantastic. The place is only small, I had cooked oysters to start. First time I have had them and they were really tasty. Others in my party had Haddock Chowder and Langoustines. They too said that these tasted amazing. For our main courses, two had a Surf and Turf consisting of half a lobster and venison and a platter of lemon Sole and Haddock. I had Scallops in a Mornay Sauce. The meals are not served on plates but on HUGE platters! They tasted terrific. This is the best seafood I have ever tasted. The owner was really nice and made a point of speaking to every diner to find out what they thought of their meal. I would go back in a minute! The meals were huge but we managed to squeeze in (only just) desserts which were also really nice. It was excellent value for money, I think it was £120 for starters, mains, desserts, 2 bottles of wine, appetisers and 3 other drinks and we also had complimentary port after! Outstanding

This little gem on the waterfront in Oban is a hit! What makes The Seafood Temple so special is ... well ... the seafood. And the view of Oban Bay. And its quaintness. And the friendly staff. The fish and shellfish comprising the daily selection of starters and entrees are fresh from the local waters. Their preparations are simple, yet thoughtful and interesting. Everything served our group of four was very, very tasty. The mussels, halibut and sole were prepared so nicely that they set the standard by which we often judged other meals.

The Seafood Temple is but a 10 minute walk from the heart of town. It seats just 17 people, so reservations are highly recommended.
