This shop has a huge range of wool, including some extra-soft wools specifically intended for baby outfits. They have merino wool and other fibres including calico, cotton and bamboo. Their stock is literally piled up to the ceiling in a huge range of colours and thicknesses. They also sell a wide range of knitting patterns and a modest selection of buttons.
It is heartening to see an independent knitting shop seemingly so popular, and with the rise in popularity of crafts among all ages, and a make-do-and-mend approach creeping into the consciousnesses of a growing number of people, this little shop may continue to flourish.
The staff are very knowledgeable and informative, so if you're considering taking up knitting as a hobby but feel a bit confused by the range on offer or the different types of sewing needles, the staff will be more than happy to help.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Amy P.Leeds, Vereinigtes Königreich840234524. This lovely little wool shop has shelves packed with bundles of wool.
Multitudes of colour greet you as you enter and there are pleasant and helpful staff too.
Though close to the city centre and on major road through it, this part of Eastgate has many a independent retailer on it and this is one of them, it doesn't even have a sign above the door just jumpers and wool adorning the window.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aniela M.Leeds, Vereinigtes Königreich1139136024. Just on the right as the Headrow turns into Eastgate, The Spinner Wool Shop is where I always used to go when buying wool, that was untill I moved futher from the city centre and found new shops that supply local wool.
the Spinner is is the largest of the woolshops I have encoutered in Leeds, and although the majority of its stock is acryllic based wool, it is more the colours and different size balls of it that is readily available. The ladies who work there (though it is difficult to tell whether they both work there, or the owner likes having a few mates in) like a natter and are charming and very helpful.
As I have said though, the selection of different colours are wider than any other shop in Leeds, and that is what divides it from other wool sellers, I just find it a shame that they stock up on synthetic yarns, rather than supporting the local resources that surround the city..Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
