This was a cool place by Grovelands Park. It's a small place but has great outdoor seating area in the back (side). It seems this is why many locals come by on warm Sunday nights.
We ordered 3 items: the last two were Sunday roasts of beef and pork. They were good but by the time we ordered (6:30) it may have been too late in the day. However the baked Camembert hit the spot. Simple, yes, but very nice. They put garlic in it (cut a bit too thick though) which added a lot.
Gets a 4 for a great atmosphere, outdoor seating in the back, and the appetizer.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elliot A.London, Vereinigtes Königreich34920850526. Nov. 2014
This is a bit of a weird old place, schizophrenic almost.
It is a beautifully old looking pub from the outside and right next to Grovelands Park, perfect for a quick drink before a stint in rehab (the famous Priory Hospital is within the grounds of the park).
But inside it is a bit of a mish-mash, and could certainly do with a spruce up. Old black wooden beams, stone walls, fire places etc., and then new pine chairs, a glass conservatory and a few attempts to 'modernise', which don't come together well at all.
The food was good though, and there is an ok selection of ales and drinks, so a decent pub, but it could be so much better. Unfortunately, there is not really any other choice of pub in the immediate proximity, so is your only option...there are a lot worse, but as `i said, they could do sooo much better.
Forgot to mention, it has a decent sized car park to the side too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bethan C.London, Vereinigtes Königreich1611. Okt. 2015
Mussels are delicious!! One of the best I've ever had. Nice cosy pub feels like you could be in someone house. But also has a nice open area and plays sport. Great locations do staff are really friendly. Will come back to try the roasts

A charming pub that has an olde worlde feel. It's quite small inside but for me that just adds to its character.
Whether you want a bar snack or a three course meal (enormous portions), the food here is excellent. The pub is situated by Grovelands Park, so you can always go for a stroll beforehand to build up your appetite, or after to walk off any over indulgence.
Service is always with a smile and there's a wide selection of ales. Enough for every taste. Enjoy!
I thoroughly recommend it and if you want a Sunday lunch, book early as it's very popular!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (mel123…)London, Vereinigtes Königreich0911. Apr. 2011
Went to the woodman with my husband & son after walking our dog in Grovelands. They were happy for us bring our well behaved dog into the beer garden and even had bowls of water there so he could have a drink also ;
It was small and dark inside but has lots of character.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
We did not eat here, but enjoyed our drink and i'm looking forward to returning.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kasia J.London, Vereinigtes Königreich420526. Nov. 2014
This is my favourite pub in the area - perfect for a post-walk beer. Good food, and they show sports too.

Good food and a pub ambience.
However, the bar staff are not very welcoming unless you are uber local and do not be surprised if you are asked to pay for your meal in advance.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (gastri…)London, Vereinigtes Königreich013. März 2013
The pub has reopened but when I turned up last night there was no sign of any food being cooked at all. Instead the bar had a load of blokes around it one of whom had a toy that when you pressed it said the words f**K you in a high pitched voice. He proceeded to continually press this for the next hour and the barman said nothing. In the end my husband and I went to the newly revamped Cafe Rouge up the road for something to eat and to get away from the imbeciles. No wonder the pub was half empty on a Saturday night.
