This supermarket has 2 entrances, hence the 2 addresses on Hardenbergstrasse and Kantstrasse
I stayed at the nearby Hampton Inn hotel and popped in here to pick up some juice. Prices weren't quite as cheap as I was hoping but there was a fair choice
However, the real bargain is to be had outside at their Currywurst stall. Bratwurst for one Euro. My Chinese Thrift Gene was very excited. Sadly, unlike most of the nearby fast food outlets, this stall shuts earlyHelpful 8Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Alexandra W.Berlin491114277922. Apr. 2014
This supermarket is a need to know!
Why do you need to know it...because it's open every day from 9am till 10pm?
NOOOOOO...because it is open on Sundays, Bank Holidays and even Christmas Day and Boxing Day!
You know it makes sense to memorise this place. The times it has saved my arse on a public holiday is untrue. You know what it's like, you have guests coming around, and you are humming away in the kitchen cool as a cucumber, totally in control then BAM!!! That one essential ingredient you forgot to buy.
I only live two U-Bahn stations away so it's not such a hassle but seriously where else can you go on Christmas Morning to find ingredients. It's quite a sizeable store and has a huge fresh fruit and vegetables section, fresh bread, Lots of international food items, toiletries in case you didn't get enough loo roll to accommodate last minute guests moving in over the holiday period.
PLUS they have an ok selection of crisps! When I first got to Berlin I trotted off to the supermarket in search of crisps. Well, it was like I had entered the twilight zone. Where on earth could you find a huge long aisle of crisps... all different brands but all Paprika Flavoured! If you just arrived from the UK you will soon know what I mean!
Usually when I come here, it is on a public holiday so I am like a headless chicken running around stressing out if they have the right size parsnips if any at all... So it's also handy that there is a large booze section, for medicine purposes you understand, calming of the nerves and so forth!
Easy to get too, being right next to Zoo Station. So next Sunday when you found that you have run out of spuds for your Sunday roast, this could be the place for you!
Prices are average to a little over average, but cheaper than going to the nearest Spätkauf which probably is only good for drinks and snacks anyway.
I gave it 4 stars because it's like the ER of grocery shopping to me, a real life saver!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Kifah A.Berlin2823837016. Juni 2011
Few meters away from the cool Ku-Damm area, you will find this big super market.
I like the vegetables and fruits variation here.
Moreover, the wide range of wines and alcoholic beverages should put a huge grin on the faces of your party guests.
The staff is neutral (not overly friendly, but not unfriendly either). And the pricing is over the average.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeff S.Clayton, Vereinigte Staaten9690317. März 2015
