Union Jack Club

A really lovely and pretty place. We were dining in the restaurant for the Christmas Lunch which was very good value, with a starter, turkey mains, Christmas pudding, mince pies and coffee for £19.50. We were able to book here as my friend has two members of her family in the service, as this is a private members club for people in the services.

The staff were friendly and service was efficient. Only complaint was that the Christmas Pudding and custard was cold and when we sent it back, it came back overdone, chewy and hard, so impossible to eat. However, they did get one right and it tasted delicious! Shame the other three were not the same.

After lunch, we retired to the bar area which was comfy and welcoming.

The whole place was very relaxing and British. I would love to go back to explore a little more next time, as I had another engagement to get to, and could not spend too long there after lunch.

Very hard to fault the place, if you're able to gain access you will have a very pleasant experience.
Not ultra modern which is part of its charm.
Value for money and service is second to none anywhere close.

This accommodation is provided for serving members and provides a cheap place to stay right across the road from Waterloo Station.
The room I stayed in was mess-like with a single bed, sink and shared amenities. There is a restaurant downstairs with fantastic food at an affordable price. WiFi is also provided, and unlike most hotels is fast and reliable.
Of you're in the military, this is the place to stay in London.

This is a true hidden gem! Location can't be beat. Right across from Waterloo station. Rooms are small but they have bigger options. Place was very clean and they offer breakfast. Walking distance from a few pubs and restaurants. They even have a nice restaurant and pub on site. For the money in London you can't beat it. You don't have to be a member to stay either. Look for it, find what you need and have a great stay!

What would you expect from a private members club that caters to members of the armed forces?


Military efficiency, a sense of history and 'Britishness'? Well - you get them here.


It's not a swanky members club. It's members range from young servicemen and their families to old gents who look like they may have seen action World War Two. So don't expect the latest in dubstep to be blasting from speakers. That would be stupid.


Instead expect a place to sit and read the paper, surrounded by the past military glories of the British Armed Forces.


If you want food - it's going to be British - I had roast lamb - perfectly cooked, served quickly and relatively cheap - and in large quantity.


If you're lucky enough to get to come here - take a while to wander round the different rooms and check out the pictures and artifacts on display - if you're into military history there's plenty to keep you interested.

5 Stars for value. This place far exceeded my expectations! My view from the 22nd floor was incredible. The distance to waterloo station was only a stones throw away. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

Restaurant
3 Stars. The food was adequate but the dinner had a few issues. The good: It was reasonably priced and the food was fine. However, during the dinner I had 5 different people come to the table. I wasn't sure who I should actually ask for things. The menu was blank inside. The service was not warm. The bread was put on a wet dish and therefore was damp. I was never asked if I wanted to order a drink. Overall, It did the trick but I will be eating elsewhere.

The location of the Union Jack Club is absolutely fantastic. You walk out of the back entrance of waterloo station, cross the road and you are there, simple as that.


This private members club is extremely well run and the staff are very efficient. We had to change reservations and the numbers of rooms we required on arrival at the reception and they were great with it, no huufs, no complaints and no extra hidden charges which was very refreshing.


The hotel itself is generally of a quite reasonable standard and is everything you need when visiting London. My room was very clean and tidy, had a clean and modern en-suite bathroom with TV, satellite and brew making facilities. All rooms were spottlessly cleaned every morning.


The restaurant looked very nice, although we didn't use it (plumped for some local London cuisine instead). The bar was very nice and staff were very polite and very quick to serve you.


Many of the rooms are currently being re-decorated so no doubt standards will have improved even more for future visits.


The only complaint I have (and its a very small complaint), is they do not have the capacity to provide your room with an iron & ironing board if you need one. Instead you have to go into the bowels of the hotel and find one down there (only two for the whole hotel is nowhere near enough). If they could improve this element of the service I will give it 5 stars!!!

This is a club for servicemembers and ex-service members of the UK military forces. They have reciprocal guest membership for US military and veterans also.

We stayed about 6 nights here while in London and found it to be a great hotel in a great location for the price. London is expensive, so staying at a place like this was wonderful. TV didn't work which was a bummer because we wanted to watch the World Cup games when we weren't out and about, so instead of replacing the TV they just brought us another and set it up on a chair in the room.

They have a bar, lounge, and restaurant. They serve breakfast continental or english style, lunch, high tea and dinner.

If I go back to London I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

This hotel is a short walk from the the Thames, the London Eye (wheel), restaurants and right across the street from a tube station.

That was the only downside, from our room we were able to hear the screeching of the cars as they were coming into and leaving one of the tube stations. But, it's London and I don't think there are many retreats from the noise.

This place is pretty unique. I got to sign in as a guest as my gran and auntie where staying there! The restaurant produces proper top nosh! I hadthe prawn cocktail to start (my favourite starter) gnocchi for main (my favourite main) and cheesecake for desert...(do you see where i'm going with this...??) a perfect meal!

This is a members Hotel.members and ex members of the British Forces and Emergency services. It's a cheap (in comparison) London hotel within easy access of most of the sights of Londoneither by tube/train/bus or walking -Accomodation is single or double bedrooms with shared or en suite bathrooms and there's a suite or two available for families. The bedrooms are of varying standards but I would say are 3 - 4 star in quality its an old hotel so some of the piping in the bathrooms etc are old but the decor has been maintained as far as possible and the facilities e.g. TV, tea coffee, hairdryer etc are all as would be expected. The communal facuilities of the hotel include a bar open until 11pm - a little early I would say - and a restaurant where a reasonable standard of food is available at the appropriate times. I have stayed here on numerous occasions and it suits me just fineWaterloo Station (with food, cash points, Eurostar etc) is just over the road, there are a few pubs and restaurants around, a Sainsbury's express around the corner and a few local shops a short walk awaywhile teh UJ is open I won't stay anywhere else in LOndonsee the website for membership details.
