Vapiano

yeah, OK is all I can say. Food is usually tasty but the portions are small, especially the meat / add ons in the salad, so tiny you have to dig deep in your salad to find it. The restaurant itself is comfy, the staff can be nice, can be grumpy, depending on the person. You know what to expect when you go there because all Vapiano are the same, just don't expect too much.

The nothing special actually. It is the Italian version of Mc Donald's. During lunch time, the restaurant is full. It is not easy to eat together in a group if everyone is ordering different things due to self-service and different queues

Decent quality Italian food at a reasonable price. Pizza was fresh and crunchy and really hit the spot!

The weird thing is that you have to carry a credit card with you when you order at each "food station," and then pay at the end of your meal with the card.

i don't know whether to label this place as a glorified cafeteria or Italian dim sum. Either way, I didn't get the gimmick.

This is my experience after 1st visit.


In Saturday evening the place was really full, we needed to even wait a little while at the door, not too long anyway.


So you pick your food and drinks yourself here. You got a card on the way in, all your drinks/food are added to this card, and you pay it on the way out. Simple and fast. If you hate waiting the waitress to serve, or waiting to pay out when you are ready, this is your place.


The place is quite nice. If I remember correctly there were mostly only quite low tables or those high bar-type tables...not so much "normal" ones.


Like I mentioned, the place was full. And it was noisy !


After a while it started more and more remind me about McDonalds.


But I like the way food is served, you pick yourself, eat and pay, and you are out...

I thought the food was good and it wasn't outrageously priced. I just didn't like their system of paying. If theres a line you stand there waiting for other plates to be cooked and it could mean standing around for 10 minutes. Wouldn't ordering at your table and waiting be a better experience? The whole credit card thing was confusing. At this point why not use my own card at the cooking counter?

Walked by this place several days to catch the train for Alstadt. Finally stopped here for a late lunch (2:00) on our last day and have to say it was the best meal of our entire visit! Fresh is the best way to describe the food along with tasty and reasonably priced!

I really liked the card concept. You're handed a "credit card" when you walk in. You select what type food you're in the mood for...antipasta, salad, pizza, pasta. The cook will ask you to swipe your card after you've placed your order at each station you visit. You then watch your food being prepared right before you.

I will be looking for this restaurant in the US. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Terrible experience arrive at 18:20 entered an order for 2 pizzas after 40 minutes no pizza and they had not yet been put in. I watched them drop 3 pizzas and I felt like if we had not been watching they would have been picked up and served. After 50 minutes I gave up and left.
