boats because they wore heavy loads quickly. As
Auray had no roads, it had to compensate and thus
compete with Lorient.
Then the commercial activity has declined.
Now, Saint-Goustan port on the Auray river which flows
in the Gulf of Morbihan (the inland sea) is a tourist spot.

We can see half-timbered houses, a street with middle-age cobblestones and old boats anchored along the riverbanks. And shops, good restaurants, crêperies
Saint-Goustan is also the port ** for a cruise in the Gulf of
Morbihan which includes 42 islands and islets, whose best known: l'île aux Moines the pearl of the Gulf, l'île d'Arz, Captains Island.

Oh no 024. Juli 2008Vorheriger BeitragAutrefois le port de Saint-Goustan était très important pour la ville d'Auray. Le transport des marchandises et des personnes nécessitait des bateaux car ils portaient de lourdes charges et rapidement. Comme Auray n'avait pas de routes, il fallait bien compenser et ainsi rivaliser avec Lorient.
Puis l'activité commerciale a périclité.
A présent, Saint-Goustan, port sur la rivière d'Auray qui se jette dans le golfe du Morbihan (la mer intérieure) est un endroit bien touristique. On y voit des maisons à colombages, une rue aux pavés moyen-âgeux, des bateaux anciens ancrés le long des berges. Des commerces, des bons restaurants, crêperies
Saint-Goustan est aussi le port ** pour une croisière dans le Golfe du Morbihan qui compte de 42 îles et îlots dont les plus connus : l'Ile aux Moines la perle du Golfe, l'Ile d'Arz l'île aux Capitaines.
