Updated Menu photo added. Still love this place! I go once a month. Can't beat the ribeye and fresh cuts!
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 02. Mai 2020Vorheriger BeitragThis was my first time trying out this place and I am extremely happy that I did! I came from Cali where they have a shop I would always go to for my ribeye steaks at a fantastic price. Out here in VA the prices for ribeye are outrageously astronomical. I was dismayed as everywhere I went seemed to have the same price point. I figured I would give this place a shot. I am SO GLAD I DID.
Of course, the establishment itself is not the perfectly manicured meat aisle of a grocery store, nor should it be. It is a meat market. The meat is cut fresh for every customer, size made-to-order. Therefore, I would not EXPECT a cooler of perfectly coiffed pre-sliced meat.
That being said, it is a Meat MARKET, not a Butcher Shop. They cut their own purchased, ordered, quality meat, not random roadkill or hunted deer carcass that people can't dismember on their own. That would be an extreme health hazard and contaminate to their equipment and cross-contamination would probably be a huge health code violation if they accepted any random animal to carve from who-knows-w.
I am extremely happy with the price point of the ribeye, the customer service I received, the option to tailor the thickness of my cuts of meat, and the timeliness of the fresh cuts. I have not yet tasted the meat so I will update accordingly after I delve into the first cut.
UPDATE: After trying the Ribeye I am BACK! I would recommend upgrading to the Ribeye "Selecto." It is not that much more expensive but it is worth the smaller upgrade. You cannot beat the price of $7.50 per pound and freshly cut to order while you wait! Nowhere in the area can I find this price for good quality ribeye! And people know it! Line is long:) Well worth the wait!16. Nov. 2019Vorheriger BeitragThis was my first time trying out this place and I am extremely happy that I did! Delicious, we went in to get some fillet minion for New Years, ordered our cuts and were done in less than ten minutes. Staff is extremely friendly, high quality butcher.

I buy cow hearts from here for my dog. It's way cheaper, quality is better, and has less fat than the cow hearts I buy from Springfield butcher. Service was fast too.

Don't waste your time or money! Bought 10 pounds of chicken quarters & upon further inspection they smelled bad/old and I have never seen thighs with back bone attached.
I will never return; Sam's Costco and BJ's are cheaper and their food is fresh!
Caveat emptor!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Charles M.Clifton, Vereinigte Staaten647222. Dez. 2018
1. I've had no issues with the quality of the meat. Having said that, I can't say that it's any better than what you'd get at a typical grocery store.
2. What I do have a problem with is the counter staff who do not (or pretend to not) know enough English to understand how many pounds of meat I want. And for some reason (three trips in a row) they over-order me. In other words, I say "4 pounds, por favor" (and even hold up 4 fingers) and my package comes out with 5 or more pounds. Last time I asked that they remove the pound I didn't ask for and although they honored my request, I got a cool look at the counter. II just find it funny that the language barrier issues always seem to result in getting too much, never not enough.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 14. Aug. 2011
La Carniceria ...fresh meat!
"La carnicería" is the butcher shop.... you can buy beef ("carne de res"), pork chops ("chuletas de cerdo"), veal ("ternera"), lamb ("cordero"), steak ("bistec"), ribs ("costillas")... and many other cuts of meat.
The NY Strip is good quality and value priced.
Get there early it goes rapido!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Naty N.Woodbridge, Vereinigte Staaten8121149. Sept. 2018
Prices are decent. I run a small restaurant and I've been running short on some things, had stopped in a couple weeks in a row to order larger amounts of meat, and I was treated very nicely. Today, I walked In at 4:45, after waiting for about 10min, I finally ordered 15lbs of ribs, and 5lbs of pork chops (about 1/3 of what I normally order). He brings out the ribs and I ask why it's not cut how it normally is, to which the cashier reply's (just use a regular knife to cut it, my guys are cleaning up already)- sign says 6pm close. Completely disappointed. Also, he never changed his gloves, he handles cash and meat with the same gloves!!!!

Don't overlook this unassuming meat packer. My wife and I bought 5lbs of prime rib for Christmas dinner. It was very reasonably priced, between $7 and $8 a pound, which is a great deal. Yes, there was about 1lb of fat in there, but the meat tasted great.

I just got home from this place and I have mixed feelings.
First, nobody there spoke a single word of English. I could not explain what I wanted and ended up getting New York Strip because that is what they gave me after several minutes of trying to get ribeye steaks. They weren't rude about it, but I feel like somebody there should speak at least enough English that I could order what I came there for.
Second, I asked for 2 steaks. 1.5" thick please. I got four steaks of varying thickness.
The place seemed clean, no nasty smells or bugs. The meat looks to be much higher quality that my local Giant and the prices are great.
I will try them again and maybe use google translate to print out an order they might be able to understand. I posted a picture of the receipt. $6.95/lb for New York Strip. I'll post more pics of the meat later,
I'll update after we eat some of the meat.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
