Zeughauskeller was such a neat spot to grab a bite to eat. The building had a lot of old history and artifacts on display. The cozy, old
World feel coupled with the lively crowd really felt special.
We benefited from making advanced reservations as it tends to be a busy spot for locals and travelers alike.
We tried the calf liver with rosti and both were cooked to perfection. We enjoyed some local beer and enjoyed their house special dessert.
Pay them a visit - you won't be disappointed!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Swathi M.San Jose, Vereinigte Staaten01124. Feb. 2024
We had a great time at Zeughauskeller. We did not have a reservation and it was very busy, but the staff were very accommodating and seated us(2 people) with less wait time.
Food was delicious, friendly staff and excellent service! Great place for people who enjoy meat dishes.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 4. Dez. 2023
Set in an old armory, Zeughauskeller was the first restaurant we chose on our recent trip to Zürich.
When we arrived there was a short line and we were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait for us as two people. We were offered to share a table with another party of two, which was fine with us and it got us seated a little quicker.
Our server, Andy, was AMAZING. He gave us such good recommendations on food and beer and checked in regularly, without feeling rushed.
We ordered the traditional Kalbsgeschnetzeltes nach Zürcher Art (veal and mushrooms in a delicious creamy white-wine sauce, accompanied by potatoes), which was super flavorful (would absolutely order it again) and the Augustiner "Schüblig," which was some of the best sausage I've ever had.
We also ordered the Zeughauskeller, which is their beer brewed in house. It was crisp and delicious.
Highly recommend and we'll be back!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 29. Sept. 2023
Authentic as hell! Delicious. Oh, the interior, wherever you look. Stenciled wood beamed high ceilings, arched windows, decorative framing, wrought iron, dark wood, weaponry old, armor, art, & for some reason a row of modern motorcycle helmets.
I highly recommend the traditional veal schnitzel. Ive tried it in three restaurants, and learned the portions are ridiculously large, breading is crispy, and to my taste- could really use a sauce. Good luck with that. Marinara, nope, tomato sauce, nope, red sauce, nope. In exasperation, the waiter brought me catsup. I was finally successful at last restaurant by asking for pizza sauce. (Marinara)
This place is continuously busy, service is rapid, they don't push you to leave. Soak it all in. Don't forget a stein o beer. Only thing missing is oompah musicHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 2 - 21. Okt. 2023
The ambiance was amazing. Mixture of restaurant and museum. The food and service left us wanting. Over salted hash brown potatoes dominated my taste buds leaving a dull pork cordon blu.
Our waitress went on a break or quit all together. No refill of beer or any service until the check which was offered by another waitress for our table as well as other tables around us. A poor experience with service and food.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 8. Sept. 2023

The food here is traditional German Swiss. I had the veal medallions in a creamy brown wine sauce with mushrooms. It comes with the potato rosti, which is like hash browns. It was excellent. My wife had the pork cordon bleu, noodles, and the creamy seasonal soup, which was asparagus. Also an excellent dish. The house beet was fantastic. Be sure to get it!
The restaurant building is from the 1400's, so Christopher Columbus could have eaten here before discovering McDonalds in the United States. We sat at a table for six, and they also seated another couple at the other end of the table. They were on their honeymoon and were fun to talk with.
Service was fine, except that we were charged for an additional item we did not order or get. That always makes me suspicious. The total with the mystery item removed was over $100 USD. BY American standards, it was expensive, but perhaps not by Swiss standards.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Michelle H.Rockville, Vereinigte Staaten19713241212. Nov. 2023
I recently visited a restaurant that has long enjoyed its popularity, but unfortunately, it seems like success has come at the cost of neglecting some crucial aspects--especially the service. The place has become synonymous with 'quick,' and not necessarily in a good way.
From the moment we walked in, it was a rush, rush, rush affair. We waited for what felt like an eternity, approximately 30 minutes, only to find ourselves finishing our entire dining experience within 45 minutes. It was as if speed had become the priority, leaving little room for a relaxed and enjoyable meal.
While the food wasn't terrible, it was decidedly average. If you're someone who values both the quality of the food and the service, you might want to look elsewhere.
The menu offered standard fare, but nothing stood out as exceptional or memorable. It's disappointing when a once-popular spot starts to compromise on the very elements that made it a hit in the first place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 14490386913. März 2023
After a long flight, we decided to dive right into the local cuisine! We read that Zeughauskeller was authentic and very popular amongst locals and tourists!
The inside of the restaurant has lots of wartime relics. The old masonry reminded me of a medieval dungeon. Despite that, the atmosphere is very cozy and lively!
The service is great. Although it was popular during the lunch hour and we didn't have reservations, the host was kind enough to seat us anyway!
The smoked pork sausage was my favorite! The spice mixture was definitely something unique! It was a chilly day so I ordered some soup. The beef broth in the onion soup was AMAZING! I don't think I've ever had a more flavorful onion soup!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Daniel C.North Dallas, Dallas, Vereinigte Staaten29217820. Feb. 2024
Absolutely delicious, authentic Swiss cuisine. Very good and big portions - plate was licked clean! The staff is very hardworking and their turn around time is incredible. Very warm atmosphere, feels like you are feasting with your fellows. Sehr gut! #Prost
