This is a craft brew lover's dream home. Everything is craft. EVERYTHING!
None of that generic, watered down, BS "Murican'" crap people swill back. Yeah, I'm a beer snot, but if I'm gonna pay money for beer, it's gonna be damn good beer!
PLUS, their food is awesome! Great pizzas. But the best part, since I'm a fatty and love sweets, is they have Nutella-smore pizza like thing. Whatever they call it, it is amazing, and makes you love it, and hate yourself at the same time!
OH! One more thing(yeah right, just one more I'm going to tell you, the rest you go find out for yourself), they make ahhhhhhhhmazing BEER FLOATS! Can you talk about a True fat kid, craft brew lovin' girls DREAM DESSERT?!?! Root beer float? No thank you. They will never be good enough again!
I am sad that I missed Bill Murray night this year, but you can bet I'm working my schedule around it for next year!
I have been here a few times, and everytime someone suggests a small (only a half hour - sometimes more with highway traffic) roadtrip to grab a brew and dinner, I definitely jump on that awesome train and ride it all the way to heaven in my mouth.
All of their food... ALL of it, is amazing. Had the 2am burger the last time, and I order a burger about as often as I floss, but this floss didn't last more than 5 seconds before I literally inhaled it, then was admitted to the hospital with Pneumonia from aspirating.
But, before they could wisk me away in the ambulance from my fall from heaven, I tried a few different brews. Not once was I disappointed. I love craft beer, and have tried a few different brewries, and this one far surpasses them all. Even some craft beers I didn't think I would like, I was amazed at.
The staff is always friendly and courteous. They make you feel welcome and comfortable to stay and have a bite to eat and a brew to drink.
They always have some really random and very old movie on, and once I kept looking at it like, wtf? Are those really hookers with crazy boa hats and riding motorcycles? That is AWESOME! I had no idea because there isn't any sound to it, it's just there in the background. But it's always funny, and a great conversation piece.
Long story short, this place is amazing. If you're pretentious and wipe your a** with gold toilet paper, then this probably won't stand up to par, but for the majority of people who love good food, and great beer, this place is awesome!
Was just here last Wednesday, 8-8-12, and as I work night shift and sleep all day, this was by far the best Breakfast of Champions I've had in a long time. I think the Olympians would do best to take note for their future endeavors. Nachos and Craft Beer = A Happy, and somewhat tipsy, Kasey :D
The Waldorf salad was, as is always, amazing. But, you need a good starter, so the half plate of Nachos was MORE than plenty for me and my girlfriend... yet we still managed to polish off the whole thing. When the bartender asked if we wanted a full serving, then proceeded to hold his arms out as if to show us how big and measured about 4 feet long, we decided maybe not this time, or at least we weren't drunk enough yet. A half serving, definitely more than plenty. I was full, and yet somehow managed to eat more... hmmm... There was definitely beer involved.. Good thing too!
I had one of their summer seasonals, which was pretty tasty. Just so I had something different from my usual IPA, Double IPA, or anything with an IPA tag on it..... But then for my second beer I had to order the house IPA, go figure!
I did almost cry though when the bartender went to pour me a Double Down IPA, and then realized they had just been tapped-out!?!?! NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo :'(.............
*sniff*.... "Yeah, I guess that'll do. That'll do pig, that'll do..."
Still delicious! So I was very O-KAY with my regular IPA after a heart-elating sip of delicious nectar of the Gods... and especially by the bottom of the glass.
The Bartenders, both dudes, pretty awesome! Both were helping each other out, and making sure all of our beer needs and refills were meet before we were parched for too long! I hate going somewhere, emptying your glass, having to show the bartender, Hey, I'm all out, want another tip or no? These dudes were all over it!
As always, never disappointed with a trip to the Bottom of the Rock. If I were ever at a point in my life where I "hit" Rock Bottom, I think I'd be pretty ok as long as they still have their IPA :)
Not only is the food outstanding. The servers are outstanding!
Emily, our waitress, gave us a couple of free appetizers, and lets face it, I love free stuff AND I love food, so she earned major brownie points in my book.
The food is great. Great menu to choose from, and you can have anything from Grass-feed beef burger, or change it to lamb, or portabello, or something else. It may have been Unicorn meat for the deliciousness the burger I ate was!
They have a nice selection of craft beer in bottle, and on tap.
The bar stayed open late just because we wanted to have a couple extra beers after our meal. They didn't complain, didn't even tell us they were supposed to close earlier, they just let us stay because we were there enjoying ourselves.
I have only been there once, but I honestly cannot wait until I get a chance to go back!
They have amazing food, and great prices, great atmosphere, and great staff.
Oh, and if you tell them you haven't been there before, the waitress/waiter will tell you about the entire menu options... Which honestly I stopped listening after about 20 seconds cause I was more amazed at her crazy knowledge about the menu and how much they have to tell you! But she was more than happy to help me with the options, and again, I loved my waitress!
Had dinner here last night, was absolutely wonderful! We got there a half hour before our reservations and they were able to seat us right away. Sarah, our waitress, was really good, and very sweet. Liked her a lot.
Went to the front to do our wine tasting after our meal (was very crowded when we first arrived, and by the end of the night most had cleared out). Tori was there again, and amazing as always! I know I'm going to have a great experience when I do a tasting when Tori is serving us! And even though I've done plenty of wine tastings, somehow I seem to learn something new everytime with her!
Fun fact: Red wine can last 10-15 years if lying down. The wine must be in contact with the cork. If the cork dries out, it is no longer good to drink.
White wine, only a year (so drink up!)
Craft beer = me praising the gods that I can actually have a drink.
Good food, bodering on great food! Plus, the hot bartendar, Joanna, makes the whole thing worthwhile. If I swung that way, I would be broke by the end of the night because I would give her all my monies.
They have an impressive selection of all different types of crafy brews, which I love. Tried the Gubnah IPA last time, and absolutely loved it. Partly because the name, but also because it was super delish!
I would recommend to firends for sure!
While I was a travelin' Jolina in the Keys, I stopped into WAHOO's a few times. The view is beautiful. I can't really say much more than that. You have to see for yourself. You don't even need to have company, just sit, drink, and stare out into the beautiful ocean. Ah-mazing! You get to watch all the boats come in and see what they have caught for the day which is always fun!!!
They have some drink specials for everyday, I believe, but don't quote me.
The bartender, Teri, is amazing. She takes care of everyone and makes sure their drinks are always full, their palettes are always happy, and we are entertained with her comic wit! She is always on top of everything. I wanted to take her home with me!
The drinks are good, the fried Conch is soooo good! THE KEY LIME PIE IS ORGASMIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I picked up a piece on my way out of town to the airport, and was going to try and bring it on the plane with me for my boyfriend back home to try(and yes, of COURSE I left him at home while I was in paradise!).... However, the pie didn't last more than 2 minutes after I took "one bite" before I left.... *shrug* Oops :D
I ain't even sorry!!!
Went here with Dana G for a "Vino VanGogh" Painting event, which is a whole 'nother review in itself = AMAZING....
So the bar, right, that's what we're here for...
The servers were really good, very nice and patient especially for people like me who get handed a beer list full of crafty-goodness and can not make a decision! I had two different ones, a Founders, and I can't remember the first one. But both delicious! I am so excited that this bar is here! I never knew til now!
The food we had later was good. Wasn't disappointed at all.
A little on the pricier side, but the beer is worth it if you want to enjoy craft beer outside of bed *cough* home... Ok, yeah, I have a beer in bed sometimes when I'm winding down with my Netflix. No big.
But the experience was a positive one. And sometimes, when drinking, if that's all you can remember, then it must be good!
If I could go there everyday to gawk at the bartenders, specifically, Tommy, I would ;)
But sadly I don't have money to eat three meals a day out at the bar. Otherwise I would definitely have my liquid lunches there more often!
The food is also another reason I guess one would go to a restaurant, huh? But yes, the food is great. I am not a beef kind of person, but even I am in love with their burgers. Very well put together.
I work night shifts, so my "evening drink" usually starts around 8am. I have already written the owner requesting Tommy, er, anyone to open the bar around that time so I can enjoy Tommy, er, their restaurant more often.
But honestly, nice bar, good food, staff is great, not just Tommy who is very polite and a great bartender on top of a good looker. TVs everywhere - Obviously "Champs", duh... that one only took me a few visits to figure out why the bartenders wore referee shirts... ok more like a few dozen, but who's counting.
It's a divey bar. But for the divey bar it is, it is pretty good.
They have Karaoke sometimes, I don't remember which days.
the price is usually very good. And they have other options for beer besides bud and miller which is good.
Usually when I go, there is only one person behind the bar, so sometimes it is difficult to get a drink. I don't believe I have ever had a waitress when we've gone. So even on a busy night you have to fight your way through the bar.
But, for a night out just to go socialize with friends, it's pretty nice.
Went to meet up with couple people last night. It was a fun time. I gave an extra star for the awesome Karaoke DJ. He was a lot of fun, and very great attitude!
First time ever been here. Damn my boyfriend, we were here around 5 for dinner. I just ate lunch not 3 hours ago!!! Whatever, I ordered coconut shrimp appetizer. I was actually really excited because I LOVE coconut shrimp.... sigh... I've had better. It wasn't inedible, but it wasn't great. Meh.....
Anyways, she asked what we were drinking. The bf wasn't in the mood for anything, but smiled and told her I would probably order a beer. He knows me so well *swoon*...
I had three samples before I could finally decide. I think the beer was the Schwarzenbier(sp???????). It was like a stout flavor, with the light crispiness of a sweet summer ale. I was actually really surprised and pretty happy with that! So after a few bites of unimpressive coconut shrimp, I shoved the dish aside and made the beer my main course, of course! By that point, the bf wasn't impressed with my Cavewoman talk.
Me: Coconut shrimp meh*shove*, beer good *sip*.
Bf: *eyeroll* ok.
He had a ceasar salad... I know, what a prima-dona! When I asked him how it was, his response was, "It's a salad.".... He has a way with words that one! But I knew what he meant. "Meh".
The waitress was good. I don't remember her name, but even though knowing she wasn't going to have a huge bill with us because we weren't very hungry, she was still attentive and made sure we were taken care of.
The bill? Almost $50 for a salad, coconut shrimp, a beer and a pepsi.... Shit. I would hate to see the bill for an entire meal!
It's a martini bar, so if you'd like to have a girl's martini night out, this would be an ok spot.
The seating isn't comfortable, and the prices are on the higher side than of any other bar. Not as expensive as the city, but high enough to where I now go elsewhere if I want a girl's night out.
But, if you like the dim lighting, and ritzy dressed up place, this isn't so bad.
Don't get me wrong, I like dive bars better than hang nails, and we still had a good time. But the thing that made me go, "meh", was when you first walk in it smells like cats are roaming about without a litter box to piss in. But thankfully the human body is amazing and after a while you can't smell it anymore because you just get used to it.
Drinks are kinda cheap. Cash only, but they have an ATM for those of us that choose not to carry cash.
I did go on a night with Karaoke, and I gotta say that part was a lot of fun. The KJ is pretty cool, you can sing multiple times. Probably the only part that really made me go "meh" instead of "bleh".
For a friend's birthday, it was pretty fun, after the smell settled in and the alcohol kicked in.
Probably won't be going back, but that is more because I live pretty far away from it, and there are dive bars closer to home.
Only had 4 beer choices other than the standard. It seemed odd to me as a brewry, so I stuck with IPA which was good.
I did feel like a vulture waiting for a table to open up at the bar. After a half hour, I gave up and was seated in the restaurant portion. It was very packed, but at least they had pagers for when you could be seated.
The food itself was kind of mediocre. I eat at the one in Orland Park all the time, and the difference is amazing.
The server we had was very good, and patient with us while we waited for the rest of our group to join us almost twenty minutes later. She was the best part of the whole experience.
I probably wouldn't go here again. Very disappointed from my other Rock Bottom experiences.
Durbin's is like Cheers. Where everybody knows your name. Not because the staff actually remember you, but it is like a High School Reuinion everytime I step foot in that place. Which is why I don't go very often.
The bar itself is cool inside and the patio is nice.
The DJ is not great, although I thoroughly enjoy the seizures people have on the dancefloor. Drunk people are funny. And the ol' adage is true, alcohol makes you think you can dance, and this place is a great place to judge others because they tend to be a bit ridiculous.
The price for drinks isn't bad.
Two stars for the drunken entertainment allowing me to laugh at others.
Popped in for a quick drink with a girlfriend... or 4 drinks, but who's counting here really? It should be like counting during mini-golf, but instead after the 3rd drink they just don't count anymore. Cause also, unlike in mini-golf, I can't count to 6 drinks anyways because it starts to get pretty fuzzy. Then again, I'm usually drunk on the golf-course. But we aren't here to talk about my issues...
They are a nice place and they have a good atmosphere. Didn't have too much of a beer/wine selection for those not looking to grab just anything, but let's face it, it's a bar, it is what it is. You want the best then you don't go to a normal bar. You just want a place to chill, then this place is OK.
The waitress was very friendly, especially talking to my uber drunk friend who apparently really liked her in grade school. I guess this is a big LTHS place. Im not from here, so I really liked going out and not having a high school reunion. Normally when I go out in Orland I see a dozen people from Sandburg, cover my face with my drink, and look really busy. BUT, if you are from the LTHS area and like catching up with old friends, this may be the place for you.
Also, the staff was very friendly. Again, when my uber drunk friend decided that the table and floor was the best place for her red wine, they laughed about it and brought over rags and a mop. Hey, when it comes to me, as long as the red wine stayed away from my brand new Blackhawks shirt, I was A-OK with it. Although they may have liked her being drunk cause she actually stole the mop from them and wouldn't let them clean it up for her. She took great pride in her work too.
Only 3 stars cause they didn't have Karaoke that night, and my friend becomes a rock star (in her drunken mind) when highly intoxicated, and that would've increased they score from me by a star at the very least. But alas, no karaoke, and sometimes no music either, so the quiet was kinda odd for a bar with no games on and no music. I need a little juke-box lovin' when I'm out and about and random bars.
For a Beer Co, they don't have too many craft beers to choose from.
But they did have Lagunitas on tap, which I did appreciate. That's probably the only good thing.
There are not too many places to sit, so if you don't get there early, you may not be able to sit. Although that's just assuming if they sometimes get busy? but I wouldn't know. I only went there on a saturday night, which was a band night, not one band, but like five, and there still weren't very many people there. It must obviously be the day, cause bars usually aren't crowded downtown on a saturday night, right?
The bathroom had a line for it, for each sex, because there was only one toilet for each gender.
I ended up using the males bathroom more often than the females. Both seem, meh, just glad I won't have to use again.
In general, I was only there to hear a couple friends bands, and won't ever go there again unless somehow these friends seem to forget what a crummy place this was, and have to go back for a reminder of what frustration and annoyance feels like. Me? I just watch politics to get annoyed, so I'll just steer clear of US Beer Co.
