I adore Blind Tiger. Really great selection including seasonal beers and beers selected from microbreweries all over the country. I've only come here midday when it isn't packed at all and it's easy to talk to the bartenders about the different beers. Order a beer and a few bites, and sit down with a newspaper- so relaxing!
Huge, amazing space (all stone, huge fireplace in the middle, retro fittings on the bar) and great selection of beers. Really good place to throw a birthday party- since it's so big, you don't have to get there 3 hours early just to save a table the way you would at Radegast, Brooklyn Brewery or the Standard Beer Garden. I also like the selection of food better than other beer venues.
My favorite beer garden!! It's one stop off the L train in Brooklyn, which makes it super convenient when inevitably stumbling back home to Manhattan. The beer garden is not actually outside, but in a large room that reminds me of a greenhouse, only with clear glass on the ceiling. Perfect for feeling like you are outdoors without being outdoors- especially in bad weather. There is plenty of seating on long wooden benches or inside at the bar, but you might have to wait depending on how busy it is. They have a great beer selection and I love the bratwurst/sausage station.
I have a friend who is so obsessed with this place that he planned the venue for his birthday party around how close it would be to Mark Burger (literally a block away). But boy do I understand why! It's the perfect late night burger joint which, more importantly, has beers on tap so you can continue the party.
I ordered two sliders- they were actually decently sized. Someone dared me to try and eat it in 2 bites and I couldn't. Anyways, the meat and buns were great, but I think the caramelized onions did it for me. Also, I appreciated having multiple condiment options- it's a small thing, but makes a big difference. I can't wait to try this place during the day sometime.
I'm not going to bother with talking about the cocktails- they are as awesome and worth the price as everyone says. I love that Angel's Share is one floor up, yet the view seems amazing. I am such a sucker for wall length windows! Also, the windows are dark from the outside so that no one can see you, but you can see them- perfect for people watching. I also love that they don't allow parties larger than four, which I think gives it such a sexy, intimate vibe. Definitely go on a date!
This place has it all as a cocktail bar. Unlike some of the other cocktail bars/speakeasies, there is plenty of room to sit at the bar and in the lounge area. No awkwardly rubbing elbows with the person next to you- it was set up in a way that makes it good for catching up with a few friends or going on a date. I love that the drinks are done by region of the world. Also our waitress and the bartender were fantastic.
This place is a lot more laid back than I thought it would be- open with country-esq decor. Our food was grilled perfectly- I had the brisket and it was juicy and tender. I also loved the sauce. We also got ribs, which were seasoned really well. Just plan on waiting a bit if you don't have a reservation.
I wasn't the biggest fan of this place when it first opened because it felt like it was trying to be more upscale...and to me that's everything a Brother Jimmy's isn't supposed to be! When I finally did come here, I was surprised to find that it has gone back to just being a regular old Brother Jimmy's- a great place to catch a game, drink pitchers of beer and eat some bbq. I've never been too impressed by the food here, but I do love their fried okra and deep fried pickles because I can't seem to find them too often in the city. Definitely recommend making reservations if you are going with a group of people during the game- otherwise you are in for an awkward wait.
Came here last night for the Beer and Bourbon tasting. The brewery and distillery were a little late to start, but it was interesting- 2 bourbon tastings, 3 beer flights, and then 2 beers plus TOTS! Seriously, the tots were amazing. A good way to try some beer and bourbon, learn a few things, and catch up with a few people.
Great idea, but not the best execution. I went there the first day it opened and it was insanely crowded. It took about 10-15 minutes to wait in line and get food at each booth. I wouldn't recommend that you come here when you are starving if you are anything like me and will rip someone's head off when you get too hungry.
I had the asian hot dogs (pork belly on a hot dog- YES), a lobster roll, and some sausages from the Meat Hook. Just not sure if I ever need to come back here again, although it was nice to sit near the waterfront facing the city and eat.
It would be cool if they interspersed the greenmarket vendors with the food vendors. Basically all the greenmarket vendors were on one side, and all the food tents are on the other side. So one side is extremely crowded while the other is not. I was so sick of being in a crowd and waiting in the sun that all I wanted to do was get out of there- sadly missing out on the greenmarket vendors.
