This, folks, is the Peter Luger's of roast beef - and I don't mean just that it is cash only. As far as I see it, there is only one way to order here and that is rare and super dipped in 'juice.' The meat is tender, the juice is savory, and the buns manage not to fall apart. The rest of the food is just okay. I would not order the fries or mozzarella sticks, but the blueberry pie ala-mode is also fantastic. As for the ambiance, it is like a log cabin (actually, it is a log cabin) that looks more fitting in some mountain town than the middle of brooklyn. But that just makes it charming.
Fantastic local pizza. All of the slices are well heated, crispy on the bottom, and succulent to enjoy. I particularly like the slice with fresh basil. In the summer, there is outdoor seating. Here is the think about this pizza: it is not "artisan," does not have shreds of bok choy or fennell on it, and does not involve a long line. But that is what Brooklyn pizza is all about. Large, foldable, juicy/crisp slices. Any other pizza may be good also, but is not in the same style.
This place is FANTASTIC. We got there late and the owner spoke to us for a bit. It was too late to seat us but he gave us a free sample. The sample was a full meal and it was by far the best BBQ I've had in the northeast. The brisket was thick, well rubbed, and moist. The sausage was mouth-watering.
By far the best thing was the BBQ baked beans. The sauce was meaty, thick, and so tangy. I was left craving more.
I liked the mac and cheese, but the only thing I would improve is make the mac and cheese a bit sharper. But that's just me. My friend really liked the mac and cheese as it was.
I cannot wait to go back. This will be a place I crave.
The sushi is amongst the best and freshest in NYC. It is out of the way for most NYers, but if you live nearby it is well worth it. The place is a bit expensive, so I recommend the lunch menu. The staff are nice, it is very clean.
