We had a 20 minute wait on a Saturday night at 7pm... but we figured that into our plan, so it wasn't a big deal. They have a huge menu and the Huber Keller Burger is amazing, but didn't really need the extra fried egg on top. I like that they have an open kitchen... no one can spit in your food! I noticed the long bar would be a good place for dining solo. Only drawback is that it's a trek to the bathroom... but awesome food and a great time with our friends in the booth. We liked trying all he different varieties of fries... my favorites were the sweet potato & zucchini fries.
I will be back to Burger Bar every time I go to Vegas!
Vegas Trip 10/20-23/11
I've been here a few more times and have to upgrade to 5 stars. The burgers are soooo fresh and tasty. There is often a wait if you want to dine in since there aren't many seats, but we've always been able to find a spot for 2. The staff is always very polite and easy going even though they are working in such a small space. The parking can be kinda tough, but I love walking around downtown La Jolla afterwards.
I definitely find myself wanting Burger Lounge before Smashburger, In-N-Out or Five Guys.... it's a step above all of them!
Last time I was feeling the need to be "healthy", so I tried the turkey burger. Seriously, the BEST TURKEY BURGER of my life. It was so juicy and fresh and I loved it. My fiance had a bite and he was impressed even though he's not a turkey burger guy. I did throw off the whole healthy thing by ordering onion rings... but they are AMAZING too! The root beer floats are really good too with high quality root beer and ice cream.
Keep up the great work Burger Lounge!
Been coming here for the last 3 years and loving it! DB's is a small place and attracts a good crowd. I've never seen anyone totally wasted there--and I like that. Everyone seems to be having a good time, but no one is going crazy overboard. So happy they got their full liquor license so we can get our favorite mixed drinks (since we aren't beer drinkers).
My man always gets the Dirty Chicken Sandwich. It is one of his favorite meals and I think they must put something addictive in that dirty sauce. DB's has a pretty big menu and there are lots of choices for sides. Fries are awesome-- spiced & similar to Rally's fries. Macaroni & cheese is good. Tots are okay, but I'm not a tots kind of girl. Grilled chicken sandwiches with salads are pretty good if you are feeling the need to be a bit healthier. My favorites: BBQ burger, JaColby Burger, Bluebird Sandwich, BBQ Western Sliders, and Wings with a variety of sauces!
They have free delivery to the PB area (but we usually do take out if we aren't dining in). Parking can be difficult since its right by the beach, but it's not horrible. Bathrooms have always been clean and a step above the typical PB bar bathrooms.
We love Dirty Birds and will keep coming back. It's always been solid service with the food coming out hot and quickly. ENJOY!
As always, a great In-N-Out experience! Stopped in for lunch during a road trip. Our orders were taken and only a few minutes later our food came out perfect. Everything was tasty and just as we ordered it. Bathrooms were very clean. Great service!
Still remember how great Shake Shack was at the Mets game we went to on June 26, 2010 (had this saved as a draft). I got a Single shack w/ sauce and cheese fries. and of course we both got shakes w/ frozen custard. There was a pretty long line, but with the big screen behind us, we could still see what's going on with the game. Totally worth the wait and the price... I would definitely come back to Shake Shack again!
Only been open 3 weeks, so I'm sure that they are getting everything together and I always take that into consideration when reviewing brand new places.
FOOD: Great varied menu with your choice of 1/3 or 1/4 lb burgers, chicken, hot dogs and salad. I started with the San Diego Burger since it has avocados. After looking at the pictures again, I saw that I didn't get the lime. I suppose they are still working on the details. I agree w/ previous reviews that the "ice cream scoop" avocado was not appetizing -- I spread it out with a fork. Also there was a crazy amount of cilantro that I took about 2/3 of it off. The torta roll was nice and fluffy without being too dense. Many choices of fries -- all are on the side & sold separately (but cheaper w/ a burger). I got the veggie frites and they were okay, not great -- a smaller portion than I expected. Next time I want to try the Haystack onions since they looked really good. The sweet potato fries look good too! My BF got the BBQ bacon & cheese burger and it was great. He's picky about his BBQ sauce and really liked theirs. The egg bun was really good. The smashfries were a bit over-seasoned for our tastes -- the ones at the bottom were really soaked in oil and had too much of the rosemary and garlic. I like that they have wine & beer on the menu and we will probably order it in the future. Overall a GREAT PRICE for what you are getting!
The restaurant is fairly small (long & narrow) with mostly booths and a few tables. It's similar to newer places (Panera, Corner Bakery, Pat & Oscars, etc.) where you order first in line, take a number for your table and then they bring you the food (which means less tipping for the wait staff). It's not the best ambiance and not really a "date" place, but great for when you want to have a quick meal and be able to sit down and relax. Not crowded at all on this particular Friday night at 8:30pm. Easy to find this place since it's right next to The Living Room and has good signage. Parking is all on the street, but there's a good amount down by the Cove and you can walk up and down the hill to get some exercise!
More locations will be opening this year in Del Mar and San Diego!
Great times at Bare Back. I've been here once or twice in the last few years and had a casual lunch last Saturday. Parking can be a bit difficult since it's so close to the beach. The place was hopping! Plenty of people watching sports and hanging at the bar. It seemed like a pretty chill crowd on this Saturday afternoon. We sat inside but the outdoor patio with long counter seating would be fun to hang for awhile and people watch.
I got the Queenstown Fave burger medium rare. It was excellent! The burger was perfectly cooked and I liked the recommended Edam cheese with it. The best part was the BBG sauce. I couldn't quite figure out what it was, but definitely liked it. The bun was light and the spices complimented the burger. I scarfed it down so fast! The burgers came with chips that were better than they looked. Next time I'd like to try their onion rings.
My dad got the calamari and said it was good. It was a large portion so he took the leftovers home.
Our waitress was very friendly and we got great service. I used an ENTERTAINMENT BOOK coupon, which was for BOGO entree up to -$9 off. I always make sure to tip on what the total would have been without the coupon since the server shouldn't be punished for my saving money!
I highly recommend Bare Back Grill for their chill crowd and some great burgers by the beach!
Tasty burgers & onion rings!
Junior burger was the size of a McDonalads cheeseburger = just right. Personally I didn't need a huge burger and happy to see that I could get something small to go with my onion rings. Burger had some char to it but tasted very good. Comes with ketchup, mayo, lettuce, tomato & onions. I had them omit the tomatoes (personal preference) and really liked it with the ketchup & mayo. My man isn't a mayo fan, but likes it on Burger Time's burgers with ketchup too. Tempura-style battered onion rings were really tasty & plenty in an order. I was really scarfing them down! My man's chocolate shake was really good! Served in a plastic cup & we can definitely tell its made with real ice cream.
Fun to see that there are 2 sides to the drive thru.... Really friendly service & they got our order just right. I would definitely come back here if I was in the area again.
We came in here late on a Monday night in December because it is one of the only places open for dinner after 10pm in Burnsville. There was a delay in Monday night football, so it was still going at 10:30pm. We sat near the big screen and got great service. Our waitress was friendly without being fake. Must be Minnesota Nice! She was also great about keeping my diet coke & water full since I drink a lot.
We were starving so we got the Chips appetizer and a half order was plenty for two.
$5.99 burgers on Mondays! I got the Carolina burger which is new.
It has cheddar, BBQ sauce, onion strings & I opted to leave off the coleslaw (I'm not a fan). I really liked it a lot. The onion rings were good, but I like ones that are more tempura-like instead of breaded & crumb-y like these were.
My man got the Kobe burger with crosscut fries and he liked it.
It was "fancier" than I expected and everything was clean. When we asked for sides of BBQ & ranch they were served to us in little cups on a plate with a napkin. I also wasn't expecting cloth napkins at a sports bar/restaurant which was nice. They had food runners so food is served hot. I love that. I also liked that you can see the kitchen through a glass window, so nobody is messing with your food.
Maybe I was freezing, tired & starving... but I was very happy with the dinner we had here and I would come back again on our next trip to Burnsville.
Gotta start by saying that I'm kinda sad that Stacked took the place of Pizzeria Uno's... I used to love their Chicago Classic pizza.
But I got over it pretty quickly because Stacked is SUPER FUN! So many options that it can be a bit overwhelming. They have a huge variety in their menu and ordering on iPads is fun. Each table gets their own and you order at your own convenience... The waiters are more like food runners at Stacked since you really don't need to talk to them much.
Everything is completely customizable so if you don't like your burger, you should order something else next time? There are so many options and sauces to choose from, so I got a bunch of them to try out with the fries. Regular fries and sweet potato fries were both good and with the Stacked sauce and Chipotle Aioli. The ice cream sandwiches with cookies are really tasty and the milk shakes look good too! I liked their wine selection too. There are really a ton of options here where everything is custom and you should be able to find something you like. :-)
No reservations taken and the wait can be kinda long at times. I was able to snag 2 spots at the bar one time and only waited about 20 minutes the next time. Plenty of TVs at the bar if you need to catch a game.
TIP: It seems like it would be a great first date spot. The iPads give you something to keep you occupied and break the tension. :-)
Huge variety in the menu: American, Mexican, Greek.
Order at counter & food is brought to you. Also has a drive thru.
$5.49 for cheeseburger combo was a great deal. Check out the pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/qKr7…
Zucchini fries better than onion rings. The onion rings fell apart a bit, but the zucchini fries were SOLID & so yummy. Pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/qKr7…
I would totally stop here again on another road trip!
I've been coming to this location since they opened 20 years ago and never had a bad experience. This is a large restaurant with the bar on a raised level in the back. All of the seating is booths, making it nice, cozy and good for conversation. Never seems to get crazy loud in here, which is really nice.
Service is always spot on with plenty of food runners to bring out food and keep drinks full. Actually, they don't even bother refilling drinks--they bring new full glasses (actually plastic handled mugs) of water, iced tea, etc.
FOOD: My standard order is the Yaki Soft Tacos (teriyaki chicken) or the Hawaiian Burger. Fries are good even though I'm not usually a fan of skin-on fries. The regular onion rings are really good and solid--not flimsy or falling apart at all. I haven't tried the Island Reds. If you're in the mood for dessert, the Kona Pie is really good.
Drinks can be a bit pricey here... I'm always a bit cautious when there aren't prices on the drink menu. I guess I need to try them for Happy Hour!
As other reviewers have said, I wouldn't come here without kids... I don't have any myself, but it's a fun place to bring kids when I need to entertain them. We had a group of 6: 4 adults and 2 kids. It was a long dinner where the kids had a great time, but the adults definitely left feeling exhausted from the noise and sheer amount of time spent in the restaurant.
-- They won't seat you until your entire party is present, so make sure you arrive together.
-- Plan for at least a 15 minute wait (mostly 30 minutes) and 90 minutes to 2 hours for the whole meal. It's an experience.
-- Request something other than the "groovy" dark room because it's just too dark in there
-- Split a shake or malt to save money, but make sure to ask for NO WHIP CREAM! They go crazy with whip cream and it ruins the ice creamy goodness.
I have fond memories of the old location in Hillcrest. It was super fun to see the wait staff dancing to the music and being able to make requests with the DJ. Unfortunately everything is divided into rooms now and that feeling is gone. The 60s room with glow in the dark art is just too dark for me. I'm also not a fan of the arcade-- it's a way for them to make more money while people wait, but it can be very overwhelming for the kids as well.
We got the Fried Zucchini appetizer and it was just okay. Edible and not bad, I just wouldn't order it again.
I got the Western Burger (can't remember the name) with onion rings. They don't ask how you want your burger cooked, so everyone gets them well done. It would be so much better if the burger was medium. Onion rings were traditional breading and very big. Decent, but not my favorite. I prefer tempura or beer battered.
All in all, it was a good time. The kids got balloon hats ended the night with ice cream. I'll just space out my visits every few years here.
