Just stayed in the Southwest room, loved it. The decor of the room is great and I love the whirlpool tub and fireplace. Soft comforter, nice towels. Erika is very nice and helpful. It is nice to see an owner show such an interest in their business and really wanting everyone to be happy there. I love the eco friendly vibe here with the food and even the shampoo. The location is good, just out of the way to be quiet but very close to Mystic and the casinos. This would be a nice place to be in the summer with the seating area outside and the deck. I've stayed at many B&B's and this is one of the better ones. I look forward to going back sometime.
A coworker of mine recently surprised me with a box of cupcakes from here because she knows it is my favorite. I tried the double chocolate ones and the vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting. All amazing as usual. I like the double chocolate and double vanilla ones the best though. They have good cinnamon rolls too
The staff here is very nice and the hot chocolate was better than most, very chocolatey. Good cinnamon buns, though a bit overheated. May want to tell them how long to heat it. Macaron was a good texture but didn't really have much flavor. Sadly out of the box of treats I got, I found just about all of it very bland. I really want to like this place more but I didn't finish anything I ordered other than the hot chocolate and cinnamon roll. 3 stars is generous. I tried the rocky road fudge, pumpkin cream cheese bar, macaron, bownie, lemon tart, 2 mini red velvet cupcakes (stale), and eggnog bread pudding. Pudding was soft on the bottom, very hard on the top. Fudge was hard. Brownie was good in flavor but more the stiff texture of fudge rather than soft. I have to wonder if they taste their own products. Lis bakery in Mystic is way better than this place, no comparison. Make the ten minute drive. Prices for smaller items were reasonable but over $4 for a muffin is pushing it. I would not stop in again unless I was already in the building for something and wanted a hot chocolate or cinnamon bun.
Very cute little store. Love the decor and setup of the place. They sell a lot of homemade products there. Good donuts, cider, and apple turnovers. Muffins looked good but they only had 2 packs at that point and I'm not sure I could reisist from eating both so I decided to refrain for now. I do wish they had smaller jars of the flavored butters. A big one is just too much for me so that was dissapointing.
Also they need to post somewhere that there is a $5 credit card minimum. She mentioned it as she was ringing me up, but it was kind of annoying the way she said it since it wasn't actually posted anywhere. It's understandable but if you want people to know, post it. I'm not going to feel bad about charging less if I didn't know
Had a great lunch here yesterday. You know the best thing was every single person seemed happy to be there. They all said hi and were smiling and it just makes the experience nice. I got a waterfront table upstairs. Got the lobster bisque, california veggie burger, creme brulee, and coffee. Everything was great, nice plating. Loved the jicama slaw that came with the burger. Scott and Aaron were perfection. I would definitely return
The only negative is the paper they keep on the tables for people to color on. Very wasteful to change paper on the tables all day long
Amazing decor, love it. Great addition to the casino. We got the meatball and sausage pizzas. The first one was bland, second very good. They comped us a box of mini pumpkin cannolis because out waiter got pulled away to help with a big crowd. Other people were checking on us and we weren't even complaining so this was a nice guesture. Took a little too long to get water at times. I like it when places leave carafes on the table, just easier. Overall very nice experience and the staff was great
Good chicken gyro and tortellini soup, though I wish they had a cup and not just a pint of it. The experience was a bit strange so that may deter me from coming back. The older man working there, possibly the owner, has a very strong personality that may be off putting to some. I am all for chit chatting but I don't expect a carry out order to turn into a 15-20 minute lecture on life. I got there 10-15 minutes after calling and my order had not even been started, despite no other customers being there. He also stopped in the middle of putting my order together to ring up a friend of his who came in to buy something. Apparently he thought I had nowhere to be that day, despite me calling in a carry out because I did have to be somewhere. He is nice and well meaning but it was a bit much
We were here on Friday night and there was already a line so we decided to order it to go and just sit at one of the tables in the main area. The guy working at the counter was very nice. Their idea of a small is my idea of a medium, fyi. 2 people could share it. The crust and toppings were good but the sauce was bland, leaving the pizza as a whole with not much flavor. I have never been to the original location so cannot compare. I would just go next door to Ballo to get pizza
Was here with a friend yesterday for beer, chips and salsa, and trivia. $2 Narraganetts, decent chips and salsa. Trivia was fun. I like the festive decor.
Couple negatives. They deserve minus 2 stars just for not putting prices on the drink menu. What kind of game are we playing here? You are a small restaurant in Mystic, CT. Not that it is ok to do anywhere but cmon. No excuse for that and they are clearly hoping people will order without asking what the prices are. That level of respect doesn't exactly make you want to return
Also, the music got way too loud after trivia. I expect someone who runs a business to have the sense to not make it so loud that people have to scream at the person next to them. It is obnoxious and made us leave to go elsewhere.
Has potential but needs some work. My pumpkin latte was weak and the mini rasberry cheesecake was just ok. I walk in and stand at the counter for awhile as the teenage girl working sits on facebook. I had to just say something to get her to notice me at some point. The worst part was how filthy the place was. I was afraid to go into the bathroom but I unfortunately had to, also very dirty. Dirty floors, tables, papers all over. The place was almost empty and it was early in the day, guess the staff don't have to clean in their down time. The owner may want to get a handle on this. The setup of the place is nice and it could be a good place but I felt zero desire to stay and hang out and I hate weak coffee.
cute little coffee shop in stonington. good peppermint mocha latte. very friendly staff. cinnamon roll was fresh but the frosting literally did not taste like anything. Rolls by themselves are mild and need a good frosting. I like the decor and the cute tables, though the place does need a good scrub down and some paint touch up would help. I like old buildings but they do need to be kept up, at least the cleaning part. The dirt was pretty visible everywhere. I found this to be the case at another nearby coffee place too. Old and dirty are not the same thing people, just sayin
Beautiful store. I love all the unique things they sell.
The woman working could have been friendlier. She didn't greet myself or anyone else who walked, just replied if someone spoke to her. Most of the small shops had friendly people working and it really does make a difference
Stopped in yesterday with a friend for the happy hour specials. We tried the $1 pizza specials and beer. The pizza was just ok, can't expect too much from pizza that is sitting out. I would come again to try a regular pizza. Our server was very nice and helpful while we were trying to decide on what kind of beer we wanted to try. We were dissapointed they did not have the buckets of Narragansett as advertised. The girl was surprised herself to see they only had PBR as an option, pass. We decided on the $3 drafts of the local Wit. Cute decor and wasn't busy. They do need some a/c in there though. It is miserable to sit in places and eat when it is hot. Get air conditioning
The food at this place is a 4-5, very good. Waitress service during dinner a 5. The way they handled miscalculating the bill, 1 star
We ordered the chicken quesadilla, pico, chips and guacamole, steak toastadas, horchata, and enchiladas.Everything was very good, though ask for the guacamole on the side if you know won't finish the whole plate because they place the chips right in the guacamole on a platter. very odd, not a great idea. then it is hard to take home later when the chips are covered.
So the problem comes in when it is time to get the bill. This was our first time here and we were using a $15 restaurant.com certificate. I gave this to our server as soon as we got there so there would be no problem. When they handed us the bill I made the mistake of giving them my credit card right away. I should not have to double check the staffs math but in the future I will, everywhere. So we mention to the server that they did not take off the discount. Her response was that it was already charged. Um....and? fix it. I said we have the discount. She shrugs and says I forgot, you forgot, eh. Wow, what?? I forgot nothing. I gave it to them when I got there. I say no you are going to fix it and take it off my credit card because you agreed to do so when we got here, YOU forgot, not me She involves the younger girl who is working, who says next time we come in they will give us the discount because the bill is already done. Again, no way. not happening. You will take it off because you said you would. We told them to void the bill and redo it and they said ok. Now I have 2 charges on my card, and that is my money I cannot use until it clears, because it is a debit card. To respond to a customer this way was outrageous and absolutely unacceptable. The owner seriously needs to train the staff on customer service when things go wrong. The correct answer was, we apologize and we will fix it. Had they done that, I would have been understanding. mistakes happen. The attitude was shocking.
The outside is very pretty but the inside is unimpressive, especially compared to Mohegan Sun. I was not happy with the food anytime I have been here also. I'll go out of my way to go to Mohegan before coming here
My friend and I stopped in for happy hour yesterday. Nice space, friendly service. The beer specials for happy hour are good, half off the regular price. The bar bites prices are ridiculous, both for happy hour and the regular prices. We were charged $8 for 4 small chicken wings, and that was the happy hour price. No excuse for that. How cheap are chicken wings to make?? very. The regular bar bites prices are about $12+. If you want chicken nachos, that will be $20. I am used to going to nice places in Boston and Providence and this was just absurd. We also observed what people around us ordered, tiny portions of very overpriced food. The place is nice but I won't be coming back for anything other than beer at happy hour, if that. Management blatantly ripping people off leaves a bad taste in my mouth
Beautiful space, 5 stars for that. The food was pretty good but overall it was about $1-2 overpriced for most things. We got the cornbread and a single deviled egg. Very good cornbread. All sides are $5. The egg was ok but no deviled egg is worth $3. I got the basic burger and my friend got a turkey burger, a little pricey at $13. We both liked our food. The only option given was fries, so that is a negative. Not everyone loves fries, there needs to at least be a vegetable option. Also, I specifically said no blue cheese butter and it came with it on it. I had to wait for them to redo my whole order, no excuse for such carelessness. They show happy hour on their facebook but other than 2 beer specials, there wasn't anything else available. No food specials even. We sat at the bar and our server was very nice. We did like the beer we tried. Heifer Weissen or something like that, in a tall glass. I think they need to work out some kinks here, as this place could easily be a 5 with some adjustments
This was a pretty cool little place in what seems to be an old mill. We went last weekend for the tasting. I love the colorful chalkboard. Friendly staff. I do tend to prefer wheat beer over the hoppy stuff we had but it was fun, and they refill growlers
The museum is really well done with a ton of detail. We spent about 3 hours there but you can easily spend more than that. There is an overwhelming amount of information so after awhile it can get hard to take it all in. They should let you come back the next day as some museums do. You would retain more information that way. Overall this is very nice museum.
My only complaint is that if they are not going to let you bring drinks in, they need more water fountains around. I am someone who needs water with me all the time and ended up feeling very dehydrated during our time there. Most of the exhibits are on level 1 and the only fountain is all the way at the end, through the huge main exhibit, the Pequot village, the war room. This is pretty far and not practical to keep going back and forth. I understand not bringing in food or even juice, but there is no reason why people can't bring their water bottle in with them. There should be at least one fountain in the main exhibit area.
Friendly staff, fun décor, good chips and salsa. BYOB is a huge plus and there is a liquor store right next to them. I would come back for some chips and to drink maybe but the meat in all the tacos is very bland, like just not good. I tried steak, chicken, and ground beef. There is sufficient filling and the toppings seem fresh, but still. The meat makes or breaks a taco. We also did not love the chocolate pie, mostly tasted like butter and graham cracker, meh. 2 stars for just the food. So basically this is more a place to eat nachos and other meatless food and booze
