I wasn't much of a dim sum person because I always thought the food was too greasy for me, but after coming here, I realized that it was all because I was going to the wrong restaurants.
This place is clean! Able to accomodate large groups. There's a lot of variety for dim sum and it tastes good, not so greasy like other places I've been to. I've always gone around 11am and was able to get a table right away, but I did notice the afternoon rush of people that would come after me, so plan accordingly.
I don't know the names of the dishes but these are my staples:
Peking Duck - Love love love it!
Flat shrimp roll dumpling - god the sauce is sooo good. they tried to take the sauce away from the table but you better believe my hand whipped out with lightening speed to stop them.
Fried shrimp &chive dmpling - drool worthy
Rolled flat noodle - was a little on the sweet side but good
Chinese spinach - a tad oily but still yummy
And basically they have a vast variety of diff dumplings we tried but the above is usually what i get.
As for prices, some people told me it's on the pricier side, but I thought it was reasonable.
Definitely want to comeback here. The Dim sum was good. The place is huge with plenty of seating. They didn't offer peking duck on the cart tho as some of the other places do. You have to order separately. Prices were reasonable.
Would def recommend to others.
I finally made it here after hearing so many things about it for 3 years. The thing that detered me the most was the warning of having to wait probably an hour to get a table. Hearing something like this, my usual gut reaction is "Oh HELL no."
I hate waiting. I especially hate waiting for food. And guess what happened when we got there...we had to wait. They have a number system going and a tv screen to let people know where they stand which is somewhat appeasing, but still...I could feel my impatience growing towards the end of our wait.
Once we finally got seated and food ordered, I found that the dim sum DID taste better than other places. To be honest, dim sum usually all tastes the same to me except when it comes to greasiness. It's greasy vs non greasy for me. This place is def non greasy and is a bit more flavorful than other places.
So now that I've finally experienced Koi's renowned dim sum, the question is is it worth the hour wait? In my opinion, not really. It's for sure tasty and cheap, but having to drive out here and wait that hour is just too much of a pain. I'd rather just go to Cityview in the city.
But I do think you should try it at least once cuz the food is good.
Not bad for dim sum. I still prefer CityView more, but this comes up 2nd. Had to wait 30min for a table on Saturday around 11am...not too bad. There was def a line so I'd advise to get there early or prepare for a wait.
Stuffed Eggplant - excellent
CHinese spinach - good
Fried Taro dumplings - yummy
Sticky Rice w/chicken - good
Shrimp flat noodle - ok
Shrimp & chive steamed dumpling - below average
Sesame custard ball - eh
Clams in black bean sauce - delish
Service was fine. Food good. Overall, I'd eat here again.
All Day Dim Sum place. We went for dinner and ordered way too much food. I thought the greens and the steamed shrimp dumplings were good. Everything else was just eh to blah. Really cheap, but not that great in my opinion.
Taro fried dumplings - ok
Tofu w/veggies - blah
chicken chow mein - too salty
steamed pork buns - blah
chinese broccoli - yum
steamed shrimp dumplings - yum
stuffed tofu - blah
daikon cakes - eh
One of my friends looooves this place, but my other friend and I found it really lacking. Their selection is so small and when we went, the dim sum didn't taste freshly made.
I don't know if it's because we went at a later time, but there were no carts rolling around. We had to order everything off the menu. For me, part of the experience of having dim sum is to anticipate what's behind the curtain. I admit I usually get the same things, but sometimes I'll see something that I haven't seen before and that I'll immediately have to try.
It's like a shopping sale. You see that cart coming, but you see it stopping at other customers, but you want that item, you're anxiously waiting to make sure you get that item, but you see it's going like crazy...and oh oh and AW YEAH! Score!! TIme to devour!
There was none of that here. In fact, it was kind of dead. So in conclusion, this place is a pass for me.

|I'm a big believer on getting my money's worth so here are some places that I think offer pretty good food for reasonable prices. These are all restaurants that I frequent a lot.||If you are new to K-town (Korean town, mainly 32nd St btwn broadway & 5th ave), here's what I would recommend: start off eating at one of the restaurants in my list, then having dessert at Pinkberry or Koryodang, then checking out the many Korean Karaoke places on 32nd st (many offer current American songs) where you and your friends can sing the night away, all in your own private room (usually around $30-40/room/hr)!|
|Whether you're new to SF like me or just redecorating on a budget, here is a list of places that I'd recommend checking out for furniture or household items (after checking out craigslist.org). Unless it's something that I know I can't find anywhere else and looks fantastic on me, that's the only time i'll splurge. But for the rest of the time, I find myself at these stores buying in the truckloads which is a whole other problem.|
