The review is a bit overdue for one of the newest and hottest clubs in Las Vegas. Imagine a club packed with people, one the best laser light shows, hottest DJs and a Cirque du Soleil show with acrobats and performers - and this equals The Light Vegas.
The Light was the previous Rum Jungle space at the Mandalay Bay, but it has been totally redone. The lines for guest list and general admission will get extremely long on many nights due to the DJ playing, but if you have the money to do so, I highly suggest getting a VIP table. All the tables are really good since they all face the DJ stage, with the more expensive ones being in the middle or on the dance floor.
Looking forward to the next time that I can show my friends one of the newest and best clubs in Vegas.
This review is for the nightclub only - Tao is the "oldest" and longest running hot nighclub in Las Vegas having been open for over 6 years. Now for a mega club in Vegas, it is one of the oldest ones (since it used to go up against Pure back in the day). I have to agree with other reviews that the "quality" of the talent has definitely decreased in the last few years, but nonetheless, Tao is still one of the best clubs to go to. With 2 different rooms on the main floor, the downstairs "lounge", and Tao Beach (only open during the summer months when it is warmer), there is definitely a lot of room to wander around. I'm more of a fan of going to Tao on Thursday nights (industry/locals night) and reserving the newer mega clubs for the weekend (as do most other club go-ers). Bottle service here is recommended but can also add up as it does in all Vegas night clubs.
Another restaurant/nightclub owned by the Tao Group and they know how to set things up.
The Restaurant - Italian inspired/themed and for the price, a very good Italian restaurant. We have done a few group dinners and birthdays here and the food does not disappoint. The kobe meatballs are awesome and the various pasta dishes are all very good. Everyone in our group is usually very happy with what they ordered. Definitely a restaurant to check out if you are looking for a hip/trendy place, although it can get loud due to the crowd, lounge inside, and music.
The Nighclub - It's a lot smaller than most of the other mega clubs as it upstairs from the restaurant. Only one smaller dance floor and two elevated areas that houses the tables and main bar. I usually get bottle service here and it is definitely far less expensive than some of the other mega clubs in Las Vegas. It has its own unique smaller club vibe, but can be hit or miss in terms of the quality of the crowd. They do have good nights on Sunday and Tuesday (industry night) and the Friday/Saturday night is packed, but definitely not to the scale of the other mega clubs in Vegas.
XS is probably one of my favorite nightclubs in Las Vegas (for now). I say that since usually mega clubs in Vegas have a fairly short life span, but nonetheless, I always have fun whenever I go here.
The place is almost always packed and the lines are ridiculous (and sometimes cover prices are as well depending on the weekend and the DJ spinning). I typically get bottle service here through my host (highly recommended) especially if you have a lot of guys in your group. If not, be prepared to wait in line for awhile, unless you go super early or if you can somehow get pre-sale tickets by staying at the hotel. My favorite table is on the dance floor patio since it is right on the outside of the club but faces the dance floor. Perfect location in my opinion. The inside is fairly large but the outside part of the club is even bigger. Great for walking around and exploring the scene. In the summer, the Sunday night event is a night time pool party which is a lot of fun - show up in board shorts/bikinis instead of dressing up to go clubbing.
Overall one of the better clubs in Las Vegas but they know that so the prices can get a little out of hand for cover and for bottle service.
I've been to Surrender a few times as it is not one of my favorite clubs. Unless you like a club that is mostly outdoor, then this place is not for you. The inside part of the club is really small and Surrender is mostly outdoors. On a nice night, it is nice, but during the winter (when its cold) and the summer (when its still 95 degrees at night), it isnt the best place to go clubbing. I actually prefer Surrender for the day time pool parties (also known as Encore Beach Club - see separate review). The club does get some big name DJs here and so when they do, it attracts large crowds. However, I would probably prefer some of the other clubs over Surrender.
Marquee is probably the hottest nightclub in Vegas right now and it is due to a few things - it's the newest club on the strip located at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and so with being new, everyone wants to go and check it out. It is also being run by the Tao Group (who also own Tao and Lavo - in both Vegas and NY) and they know how to run clubs.
Overall, I think Marquee is a nice club, but sometimes does not live up to the hype. There are 4 different areas you can party/dance/hangout/drink. The main dance floor area is where all of the action is but is overly cramped - way too crowded for me to enjoy myself and so I find myself exploring and hanging out in other areas of the club. There is the Boom Box room where they usually play hip hop and the Library room which is more chill and not so club like. The outside area (which is Marquee Day Club during the day) is usually where I end up (mostly because that is where my table/cabana has been lately). The vibe is always going on at Marquee and it is always crowded - be sure to go early if you are not getting a table/bottle service and be prepared to wait. You can get pre-sale tickets online through their website and that is a very good idea especially on long weekends or nights with big name DJs.
The pool parties are also very good and a lot of fun and sometimes I enjoy these more during the summer than actually clubbing. Nevertheless, another great addition to the nightclub scene in Vegas.
My favorite pool party in Las Vegas! This is as good as it gets for the most part. Huge pool, lots of people, great eye candy and awesome music with some of the best DJs spinning here all summer. Be aware that it does get crowded and sometimes hard to get in (unless you know someone or are willing to pay for a cabana/table). Even then the prices for cover and bottle service can be on the higher side.
There is plenty of space to sit in the pool and even dance in the pool should you so choose. The challenge with this place is that you can't bring anything in with you (you can check your backpack or try to just bring a really small bag). The music and vibe is really good and people are friendly. Enjoy the sun, fun, music, and everything else that a mega pool party has to offer!
Tao Beach used to be the place to go when you wanted to pool party, but in the more recent years has feel behind Encore Beach Club and Marquee Day Club. It's probably due to the size of the place and the pool size (which you should almost say isn't even a pool). It gets extremely packed inside and unless you have a cabana or daybed reservation (for a fairly hefty fee), then you will have no place to sit down. In the past, we used to come here a lot and had cabanas and daybeds and every time we came we had a blast. In the more recent years, we have been going to other places that have bigger pools and more space to sit or lounge around. However, I must say that Tao Beach is still a lot of fun to go to with a group of friends during a hot summer day. The drinks are always good and the music/vibe is always pumping. I will warn you though that by the afternoon, the water in the pool does start to get a little murky.
I finally checked out the new club at the Bellagio - this is a review for the club, not when it is a lounge (before 10p). The club itself is a nice venue. Great views of the strip from the patio area and while you are getting a drink at the bar. It's not a huge club (compared to many of the mega-clubs at the other hotels), but the night that I was there it was pretty packed. However, the crowd is on the older/more mature side compared again to the other clubs on the strip. I would attribute this to it being located at the Bellagio. I had no trouble getting in as I spoke with a host and she was able to take care of me and my friends. Overall, we had a good time - music was good and the drinks were flowing. I would go back, but it probably wouldn't be my first choice of clubs to go to.
I met some friends at Fizz for a drink over the weekend and I was pleasantly surprised with the new venue. Fizz had a soft opening about a month ago and is Elton John's new venture at the Caesar's Palace. I would consider it an intimate, upscale lounge to get a drink before/after dinner. They have small bites that you can order while sipping some of your favorite cocktails, wines, champagnes or their signature drinks. The decor is really nice and has some of Elton John's personal prints hanging throughout the lounge.
I'm sure that this place will definitely get busy once the word gets out and there are only 4 booths and a few tables spread throughout the lounge, including a good number of seats at the bar. I will definitely be coming back before the end of the year to try out some of the other cocktails - and don't forget to check in and get a buy 1 get 1 free signature cocktail deal.
This is the place to be inside the Cosmopolitan hotel if you want to be seen...oh and also get a drink. You will always find people walking around the outside of the Chandelier Bar taking pictures with the chandelier.
Three floors of seating inside of a huge chandelier with a variety of specialty drinks. This is probably one of the hottest lounges on the strip that is usually busy every night of the week, especially nights that the club next door (Marquee) is open (Friday, Saturday, and Monday). It's a great spot to grab a drink before going to the club or just to lounge about, have a good drink, and people watch. And when I say people watch, you will definitely have a lot to see.
Recently another service bar area was opened on the 2nd floor facing the outside to allow for faster service, but if you want to relax, enjoy a drink on the couch on the inside of the chandelier.
