There's so many wineries in Norcal, it makes it hard to choose. We wanted to try something different this time & stumbled upon this unpretentious, lovely winery which we never knew was here.
Best decision made! They were super friendly and patient (dealing with buzzed ppl all day must not be fun) with our tasting. We didn't need to vie for attention and best of all, their wines are good tasting and affordable! I hate liking a wine and contemplating whether or not if it's worth buying. If you like it here, buy it!
Walk ins welcomed, tastings are $15 for 4 choices. Also, their pours were decently generous, not like other places.
I picked up a bottle of their sauvignon blanc, which is fanstastic! I've never tasted anything like it...it's savory with a peppery kick, not at all acidic or fruity, as I was expecting. Great as a picnic wine.
Their Gwertz wasn't half bad either, not overly sweet like some places.
I'm so glad we found this gem, I shall def be back!!
If you like V Sattui, you'll adore this winery as well. Both places are from the same family and it took 13 years to build! I love the atmosphere here, very rustic and medieval!! Everything looks like its been there hundreds of years, but its just built intentionally that way. I can totally imagine living in this castle as a princess!
They hold events here, have a big dining room with a banquet table (reminds me a lot of Harry Potter & Hearst Castle) and even a chapel! If you join the wine club, you get invited to events they host. I hear the Halloween gala is one not to be missed.
Get the sparkling red wine, won't regret it ;) It's refreshing for laying out at a picnic and basking in the sun. Staff was friendly and patient and actually Italian!! Gotta love their accents ;)
Was a little disappointed that it was drizzling the whole day we were in Napa, so we didn't get to hang out in the courtyard, check out the views and take it all in. I'd definitely come back and do the tour. I'd def recommend this for out-of-town visitors!!
