Paleo - Any salad sans meat topped full of veggies and eggs with a vinegrette.
DO NOT order the ginger dressing - full of sugar.
Impressed and ready to go back.
How have I lived in Austin for 11 years and never experienced this?
Last night I had the mahi mahi special - blackened with pineapple salsa on top. 5 star dish! The piece of fish was the perfect size, blackened to perfection and juicy. (PALEO)
We ordered a table full of sides, I joined in on the broccoli and mushroom caps. AMAZING.
The atmosphere was perfect for a few friends gathering to chat over good food and wine. Great band playing, and the servers definately took care of us.
I can't wait to go back!
Stopped by here to grab some fajitas and get our Mexican on.
Lately eating out has not been so fun due to a new lifestyle. Well David came to the rescue.
David was sensitive to our dietary request, never made us feel like a pain in the ass, and offered the friendliest service one could ask for.
The fajitas came out with a huge pile of lettuce wraps to sub for the tortillas. Extra veggies were subbed for rice and beans, and best of all... NO crazy charge for substitutions.
No wait, and great food.
4 stars is pushing it, but they don't offer 3.5 stars.
For a restuarant of this calliber, I expect the staff to be in the know, and on top of their game.
Here we go - lets start with the good ...
ambience, decor, reservations - 5 star
food - 5 star
waiters energy - 5 star
and the bad.
We ordered Don Julio shots - they came out watered down and had ice in them. NEVER put ice in a tequila shot, we even asked if the tequila had been chilled in a fridge. The waiter said yes.
When we complained he stated they were chilled via shaker and the bartender had one hell of an arm on her, and that explained the ice. Lame excuse, but lets move on. We got a new round!
We explained dietary needs to the waiter - he suggested the market sampler because we could all have a bite. The seller - bacon wrapped figs for the paleo peeps. The platter arrived and there were no figs, we asked for them and he said they would be right out. we waited, and waited, then he came out to say they ran out.
NEXT - we ordered the scallops - we were told they had two left, we ordered, he came back - they were out.
Finally - we were able to order and all dishes came out complete.
They were tasty, and full of flavor. The brussel sprouts are to die for.
Other than a few hiccups dinner was great. I hope next time the waiter staff is more informed and the dinner is a little smoother.
Other Chipotles have better customer service, but all in all its good food.
Chipotle is also on the list of places to eat for someone on the paleo diet... I love having 1 go to option when I don't want to cook.
Will I be back? Yes. For two items, the rice balls, and the Thai Passion curry (yellow curry).
Was I super impressed? No. However for the location and good Thai food Thai Passion will work.
The place had about 5 full tables, to one server, but the service wasn't horrible. The prices were doable, and over all I left happy and full.
PALEO - Red or Green Curry with out potatoes and no rice.
Izzoz is back on my good side. I love cycling here in the morning and hanging out for a few minutes, it's relaxing and the tacos are great. My new favorite...
I explain to the guy I am on a paleo diet and ask if he can just serve up the fixings... yes he did! It was too cool, and delicious.
I had two bacon, egg, and spinach (tacos) served up on a plate, topped it off with the salsa and waaaa laaa... no gluten, no dairy, no up charge!
I also noticed the credit card minimum was lowered (see 2 star review)
Update- I still love this place, but the CREEPY waitstaff is starting to get on my nerves. Yes we are gay, no she won't go home with you, and when I walk off please don't harass the "fem" one.
I love the food here, and the prices are great however being uncomfortable the entire time makes the experience horrible. Come on guys, it's Austin.
I recently went back to Austin Java, and my experience along with the quality of food was much better. I feel like it is necessary to update my review.
1. They are now open to 10pm.
2. The 2 - 1 burgers on Monday is in full swing along with other weekday specials.
3. The resturant was full of people and the line managed to move quick
4. The food was served hot and speedy!
5. The bathrooms and coffee bar were really clean
6. Locally sourced hormone free eggs -
They earned their for stars in my book!
Paleo dish of choice - egg, bacon, spinach omelette.
Hit or Miss here. Not sure why everyone raves about this place, but I guess I don't have many rants either.
Coffee- good at 2am
Pancakes - good anytime of the day
burgers - take your chance
Sweet potatoe fries - if served warm ... 5star.
Mega points for the server, I could kick myself for not remembering her name (paula, felicia, grrrr) anywho, she was on point and friendly.
Next, she got it... I have a strange diet, and yes I do need to modify my order, no problem for her!
I ordered the chicken breast topped with bacon, bell peppers, onions, and rajas. (sans the cheese, rice, beans, and sour cream) so she offers to bring out grilled veggies and guac to make up for the items I couldn't eat!!! Holla! (paleo dish)
My buddy ordered the fajitas for one and the beef I tasted was terrific.
Great service, free parking, no wait and delicious food.
I wish I had more time to sit on this patio. I love the laid back vibe, and the cool staff.
Happy hour prices are great, and the food is delicious.
Parking is a bitch, but so is life.
My food suggestions -
My drink suggestion -
Garridos Martini with jalapeno stuffed olives.
The patio is great for larger groups, and I did see a few dogs on the patio!
I won mega rockstar points by bringing my lady here, perfect mix of swank, romance, and ohh baby you know how to hit the spot. (not that spot)
Dinner was amazing, we wanted a new restaurant to explore, we ended up at Swifts Attic.
Overwhelmed by a new mix of flavors, great customer service, awesome ambiance and one of the best restaurant playlist in Austin!
F*cking amazing. Yes that's right. FN amazing!
You had me at dry sake Bloody Mary.
Came here last minute on Saturday for brunch, the weather was perfect, a short 5 minute wait and we were people watching on South Congress.
Our waiter was great, he suggested the OhM breakfast sandwiches (available gluten free or no bun for us paleo folks). The sandwich was huge. Two perfectly cooked eggs piled high with lettuce, bacon, tomato, and avacado. As a side we split an order of french fries.
Let's talk about those fries for a minute -
The best shoe string fries in Austin, he maybe should have suggested we order three baskets of fries instead of splitting one. They were served with a garlic, pesto aioli, it was so delicious we actually ordered more then fought over the last little bit.
I will definitely be back for people watching, good food, and the bloody mary!
October 15 - 18 2011
This is what really happened.
