Nectar is fast becoming one of the best venues in Seattle. The setup of this place is great, with ample seating, views of the stage and dance floor from every seat in the house, a great balcony, and nice private outdoor patio. The food is not bad for bar food. The bartendres are great, and ther's a good drink selection too. One of the best venues in town, and getting better.
Pies & Pints is one of the only bars I've been to with good salads and food after 11 pm or midnight. Tasty handmade pies (meaty or veggie) and a decent selection of beers on tap. Their beef comes from a fancy cow-spa on Vashon Island. The vegetarian Indian Curry pie is awesome. Gluttons: You have the option of drowning your pie in gravy, covering it in bacon, or floating it on a bowl of pea soup. Other dishes include Welsh-beer-sauce Mac & Chee, and a multi-layered chocolate-Guinness cake (really rich and really tasty). A bit pricey, but better than most bar/diner food available late. Food is served until close. They have fresh pies for take & bake.
Went here last night accidentally. (I was trying to go to the Latona, but it closes at midnight. Last call there is 11:30....) The bar was pretty full when we got there. Full of dudes. I think I was the only female in the joint that evening. The bartender was very nice and he made excellent drinks. Five stars to the bartender, Brian!
Note: I went back here the other night and there were plenty of women there. It must have been a slow night last time.
Midnight Movies at the Egyptian RULE! I've seen everything from Young Frankenstein to Pan's Labyrinth to Scarface here. The Stranger is sometimes at these shows giving out T-shirts and stuff. I used to take art classes at SCCC upstairs. This building is cool. And haunted.
It was impossible to play even one game of pool here. There was not enough room around the tables. My friends and I had to leave immediately, but at least they gave us our money back on the table. It was very loud and crowded. Probably better on less busy nights...
This place is okay if you're willing to pay a lot for good pool table time. There is enough room around each table to shoot pool comfortably from every angle. There are 30 tables here. The music is not usually too loud or annoying. The waitstaff is pretty consistant about keeping you beered up. Other patrons here are usually considerate of each other. There is bowling too, but the lanes are always full, as there are not many of them. The wait for a bowling lane can range from 5 minutes to 45 depending on the night. The food is not good (I mean pretty bad...) but who cares? Quite expensive.
Occasionally, Neumo's gets some really cool acts (Barrington Levy, Gregory Isaacs, Sister Carol...) But the setup of the place is a bit odd. The upstairs is like a smelly, hot maze. There is only one bathroom for each gender (a PROBLEM when it's crowded...)
My friend took me here. They had the beer that I like, and they garnished it all fancy with an orange. Nice. But they only have two pool tables. It's okay if the place is quiet, but I can't imagine it being very comfortable if it was busy. The people here were very nice.
Vito's is straight out of a mob movie... I feel like any second, a bunch of thugs with tommyguns are going to come in and lay waste to the place. I have heard stories from my friends about this place. Jimmy Hoffa probably disappeared near here. On the other hand, the food is good.
