Don't be fooled by the sketchy exterior! Very decent Peruvian chicken! My favorite part was the red spicy sauce, where there are usually just the white and green sauces. The quarter chicken I got for lunch here came with two sides and two sauces, and you pay 25 cents extra per sauce. I had yucca and black beans, and the yucca was very good, but still not as good as Super Pollo's in Tyson's Corner.
The chicken was cooked very well, tasted tender and juicy. I will definitely be back since this is so close to where I work, and the lunchtime prices are really good (*unless you get like ten extra sauces, like I do, but I think there will always be a charge for those :(. I'll let you know if I find a place without a charge for extra sauces)!
In my opinion, Super Chicken is the best Peruvian chicken in the DMV. Es una lastima (it's a shame) that the Washington Post did not try the bird out here when they reviewed local Peruvian Chicken Spots (washingtonpost.com/blogs…).
The food is reallyyy fresh here. For example, the yucca I had as a side was made in front of me! The spices in the chicken are great, so the chicken is not dry at all, especially with the combo sauces (I like to mix them together, and I always ask for a bunch extra - sometimes they charge, sometimes they don't). There are so many sides to choose from here that it's really hard to settle on two! I've tried yucca, rice, and chick peas, all of which were so flavorful.
It's really exciting that the new metro stop will be right next to here. Luckily, I live within five minutes of this place :)
Wild Chicken is a hidden gem in Northern Virginia. A bit hard to find, but definitely worth a visit! The yucca is some of the best I've ever had. They will actually give you as many extra sauces if you request them (be prepared to pay for them, though. However I think all pollo places now make you pay for extra sauces). The chicken is finger-lickin' good, and the portions are large. You're in and out pretty quickly quickly, so you don't have to run back to work like a chicken with your head cut off!.. No?!...
