A Liquor store that has really great spam musbi's? I Say YES! Two different type is made all day, with ($2.00)or without egg ($1.50). There is other snacks there but who cares! I Want Them Spam Musubi! Yum! It is located on School St, right after you cross Liliha St on the right. Parking in front of the Store or on the street .If you are West bound and Craving for a Musubi, take the School St Exit to get there. To get back on the Freeway going West, back on School St..Left on Alaneo St..Right on Vineyard Blvd and the Freeway entrance is right in front of you.
Azteca is located on Waialae and Koko Head Avenue.
Authentic Mexican food Yes! I do order take out or dine in whenever I'm in the mood for Mexican food!
If you do dine in, the Restaurant is quite small and wouldn't recommend a very large group.
Food is very good (Love the fresh chips & Salsa)
Portion are not very large but filling.
Service friendly but sometimes inconstant.
Prices not too bad, pretty good value.
Street Parking or in lot behind of building.
Big City Dinner is a place I frequent once a month, but its seem to have slowed down a little over time. Parking in the lot during the morning and lunch is easy to find, dinner time is another subject. The food is always consistently good and portions are pretty big.
The service from the friendly staff is that good feeling that makes you not to rush out of there but kick back a little. Kimchee fried rice, mushroom burger, kimchee burger is always a winner. Liquor is available (Of Course! Otherwise I might not go). I'll be back again Big City Diner.....
Is it me or am I imaging things when CPK doesn't excite me?
I love to sit on the counter and watch all the action from the waitress, cooks and the
food expeditor....... I'm getting excited..
We get seated at the counter and get greeted right away and server takes our drink order. ( Draft Beer oh yes! It's going up hill now!)
Classic Caesar: Not bad..Doesn't do anything for me. (Stuck in Neutral)
Avocado Club Egg Rolls: I enjoyed the appetizer very much (Chugging Along Upwards)
Peking Duck Pizza: I'm excited again! I was different from the original one. The condiments was separate along with the hoisin sauce. Which I liked because you could just drizzle the mount you wanted.
You got me CPK! I love your service and I enjoy your pizza! I'm excited again!
I'm hungry! No I'm not! I just can't decide what to eat and I look up OMG! Thats It!
I always past by Charley's and never felt the need to eat a sub, but today would be the day.
I order a Philly Cheesesteak with provolone cheese, tomatoes, grilled onions on top of a grilled bun. My order came out really fast and I found a seat and stared at the sandwich for a couple of seconds. Thoughts ran through my head looking at the melted cheese on top of the thinly sliced meat, this has to be bad for you but who cares!
My review of my sandwich:
After my initial bite....Damm I should have ordered the LARGE!
It was tasty! Love the grilled bread
Love the cheese
Love that a simple sandwich could taste so good!
BE BACK FOR THE LARGE!
After walking around the food court my stomach said Chinese Food! I decided to try the Hong Kong Fried Chicken, Mushroom Chicken,Pancit and Spicy Kung Pao Fried Rice.
Spicy Kung Pao Fried Rice (They should take off the word spicy, pretty bland in taste)
Pancit (Chinese trying to cook a Filipino dish...No Can! )
Mushroom Chicken (Pretty Decent and tasty,Liked the 'Shrooms")
Hong Kong Fried Chicken (This was my 'Fave", It tasted like Mochiko Chicken! Where's the Musubi!)
Quick Grindz Chinese food
I Miss Patti's Chinese Kitchen!
Had to much to drink last night? or just hungry for saimin? Here is my take on Dillingham Saimin.
Better than Tanaka Saimin (Broth temperature way hotter! Who likes warm saimin!)
Relaxing old style seating.
Food comes out quickly
Waitress could pay a little attention when taking and serving orders correctly.
Taste:Food pretty tasty and consistent everytime we come.
Parking always not a problem.
Be Back Definitely!
I have eaten Dondon a few times previously, but it has been awhile. After circling around the Makai Market food court like a Nascar car driver racing around the track. (Yes! I was going counterclockwise). I finally decided on Donburiya to get my grindz on! Not being that hungry(Oh i just can't believe I said that) I order the Katsu Donburi.
The donburi bowl was amazingly good, shredded nori on top a perfectly cook egg covering a crispy breaded chicken katsu and hot rice.
Not being hungry ....I ate the whole thing...Nom Nom!
Going back again to try some of their other dishes..
Decided to try this Honolulu Burger Co. Well here is my review of HBC,We order a Blue Hawaii Burger on a Whole Bun with Blue cheese, bacon ($9.49) and Garlic fries ($4.79). On the menu it's there #1 seller,
Hawaii Burger 6 (I was impressed paying that much and it just didn't Wow me)
Garlic Fries 7 (Tasted good, not over powering, but it was kind of soggy)
Service 7 (Would have gave them higher but they young dude that took my order didn't look like he was doing me a favour. On there other hand, the young girl was on it! Serving and moving around to help seated customers.)
Overall I might be back...
This is a guarantee no-brainer for breakfast. Service is pretty decent and the counter is almost always available for those that want to eat and go. Love the free pancakes with breakfast order special.
I like to come to Kiki's before I go to events like a concert or something happening close by.
I really like their fried chicken and fries to pick on ,while having a nice cold beer.
Other bar food very good.
Great place to karaoke and kick back with friends and have few.
Good prices on there drinks.
Parking limited. Very close to Ala Moana Hotel and Shopping Center.
I Love Korean Food!
I know that Kim Chee II is not your typical Korean food restaurant where they bring a million sides dishes, but if you want to fool your brain and fill stomach till it wants to explode...Then you came to the right place!
The service is great and all the dishes are consistently good.
Parking on Waialae Ave or Parking Lot Behind.
Best part I like..you can BYOB!
Like Like Drive Inn has been around since the 50's. Normally come for the breakfast or a late night snack. Nice atmosphere and service along with decent food, but no WOW factor. Just your typical diner/drive Inn food cooked the way you expect it to be.
Menu 3.5 stars
Food 3 stars
Service 3 stars
Koa Pancake House in Kaimuki Town is located where the old American Savings Bank use to be on 12th Avenue.
This is someplace you can go to for quick breakfast and be on your way. When you walk in the Interior of Koa is decorated nicely, but the noise level is a little more than average.(It doesn't help when the servers are yelling out ticket numbers for customers food).
Yes.. it is a order at the counter, seat yourself and a server will be your food out type of place.
Overall the food and service (Bring out food in a timely manner and refilling coffee)is pretty good.
Looking for Fast Grinds in a nice casual setting this is the place!
This review is for the drive through only..
It's has always been one of the better McDonald's drive throughs that I have gone to,compared to Waiakamilo Mc'Ds,Kam, Shopping Center Mc'Ds to name just a few of them. They are fast and pretty efficient.
This branch has Large drink specials on the Weekend and at least I can say the line does normally move pretty fast.
Food? What do you expect? It's McDonalds...You Know What Your Getting!!
I'm giving Megs 4 stars for the food I like to eat when I do eat here..Wing Dings,Spicy Wing Zings and of course they are known for there Beef Stew. Service is good and food pretty prompt. This is an old school drive-in which is cheap and I enjoy for a quick bite!
Sometimes it's just better to buy a already made bento then picking and choosing different dishes. I find myself getting carried away and start to pick more than I can possibly eat. (Stomach overrules Brain again!! Dammm)
Food is your typical old school okazuya.
I picked up a musubi, chicken, hotdog, chow fun, fish and a manju. All the dishes were pretty tasty, but no wow factor. Still after eating all of that I was stuffed...Oink!
Like any Okazuya your plate can get expensive really quick.
Parking lot is in front of Okazuya.
"It's all about the sauce"
I frequent North Shore Grinds trying different items on the menu and seeing if I can find something I don't like here. Fail!
So far I have enjoyed all the variety of 'Grinds' and specials on their menu.
Specials different from your typical small eatery.
Portions are really good.
The flavors of their sauces (Different! Very Good!)
Small..But they got AC..lol!
Punch Card (Free Plate after filled up) I Like Free FOOD!
My Fave:Tonkatsu w/bbq horseradish sauce (Tonkatsu not pounded flat)
Mahi Mahi w/Lemon sauce
North Shore Grinds is located on 10th Avenue in the beginning of Palolo Valley.
I love Okata Bento!
How do you know when a person takes pride in there food. ..
All the fat from meat and chicken is trimmed caringly.
Nothing is rushed to make sure your bento is perfect.
You can tell the Love and Pride in every bite!
My "Fave" is the Tonkatsu and fish, but there different things on the menu you can combine or try.
You might want to call ahead and order your food , otherwise there is a wait.
Good things come to those who are patient!
Hours:Mon-Fri 11 am - 4 pm. Sat 11 am - 3 pm
Chili on the rice please!!
I remember coming to Rainbows in my younger days! (Not that long ago...lol!!)
$1 Chili plate.....Oh Man! I'm showing my age!! Anyway..back to the review..
Rainbow Drive-In is absolutely one of my "FAVE" places to grind!
Quick moving lines even though it's long because off all the tourist that come here to eat a "Local Plate Lunch" .
Not a problem! We know how to share the "ALOHA"!
Everything on the menu is really good, Chili, BBQ Steak,Boneless Chicken to the Mix Plate...All ONO!
Parking has gotten better due to the opening of the additional lot next door.
"REMEMBER! I'LL HAVE MINE WITH CHILI ON THE RICE PLEASE!!"
I heard the Doughnuts calling me and I had to obey! Being like 6:30am in the morning the show case wasn't fully stocked yet,but I want to try just a few and picked up Double Chocolate Cake,Blue Berry Blast,Vanilla Crunch,Maple Cake(Darn Maple Bacon not ready yet!). They where all really good! and NO! I didn't eat them all in one sitting!...haha!.
Prices are reasonable compared to cupcakes and service good(made me buy more then I wanted to...lol!)
I will be back to try ALL the different DOUGHNUTS!
Miss That "BRAIN FREEZE"! If you are in the Liliha/Kalihi area stop by Shimazu Store!
They are located about 100yards on the right after the School St exit West bound. Parking is only on the street and could be a little difficult, seeing that everyone that passes see people eating shaved ice and pulls over! Lol!! All the flavours I tried are ONO! I would recommend the holder when ordering, the large is really big and the ex-large is a big as your head! . People rave about Matsumoto's shaved ice but this place is just as good or better! This is a must try place.
This is definitely make FAVE Starbucks Location! Maybe because it is my everyday early morning fix. The employees are always friendly and ON IT! .Being in Kahala Mall the parking lot is still empty in the morning. Lines move quickly, maybe because they know almost everyone and know what they drink? Could be...Mmmm...I love the convenience of the Starbucks cel phone application for payment. Kahala Branch You Rock!
Tell me whats wrong with a Burger that's drips all over your hands!!!!
You tell me what is wrong with it and I will tell you how many places have you gone to that does?
I have been a Teddy's fan since they have opened in Kapahulu. The food and Burger have stayed consistently the same with there Burger throughout the years!
Value wise for the combo's is really a good deal compared to the other specialty Burger Joints!
Ok.Maybe there garlic fries is just a seasoned thing but I do enjoy it, because I know what I'm getting every time I order it.
Why I like Teddy's Bigger Burger!
A HOT!!!! JUICY Burger!
Drink refills without paying a large price.
I LIKE THAT FEELING OF JUICES DRIPPING DOWN MY HAND AND I CAN'T DO A THING ABOUT IT BUT EAT MY DELIOUS BURGER!
Is it Hot today? Who Cares! Let eat some Shave Ice!
Are looking for a place that serves really fine shaved ice? This is the place!
I love to get a bowl with azuki beans and ice cream...Yum!
Know what your going order before you get to the window, line moves pretty fast.
Located in the back streets of the McCully District.
I always seem to end up in this food court once or twice a month and like always when I crave some quick simple Korean BBQ I come here. I like to order the mini plate because I don't like to eat left overs...The mini plate comes with 2 sides ! scoop rice, where as the regular plate comes with 4 sides and 2 scoops of rice(I can't finish a Regular plate). Meat Jun,Kalbi,BBQ Beef,BBQ Chicken,Curry Katsu all "Yummy" ,Spicy Pork was all right (Not hot enough for me). All of the vegetables side are pretty tasty but somehow I really really like strange looking fried potato salad. But thats me!
I eat anything and everything. :)
We stopped at Market City Shopping Center and decided to give Papa's Burgers a try.
I love trying different Burger Joints and walking inside I thought what a nice decor inside. The menu offered a nice variety of burgers, so I ordered the Thai-Burger and fries.
Thai Burger: Shrimp and Pork mix patty, carrots, sprouts and spicy sauce(IMO Not Spicy enough). Patty was cooked well, but somehow all the flavors and texture just didn't excite me...I give it 3 Stars
Fries: Nicely cut, large basket,Dipping sauce very good..3.5
Good Service, Parking Shared.
Might give Papa's another go around and try something else..
Thanks Ed L. for reminding me that I had to write a review for Toshi's after reading your Toyo Sushi review. Well Toshi's is located on King St, across O'Sung Auto Body and the Kalihi Post Office. Parking is directly in front and it's all about timing..get or no more..
The food is Okazuya..Basically the same food items as other Okazuyas go. But...But..Yes BUT..The Fishcake,Shoyu Chicken and Fried Chicken is what I crave for!!.
Fishcake is so simply made, but so Ono!
Shoyu Chicken is how I wish mine came out when I cook!
Fried Chicken..Now this not your typical fried chicken, it's almost like a baked chicken with a charred skin. If you can't picture yourself savoring the taste of this...then 7/11 is on the corner..lol!
Toshi's opens pretty early for those who want to pick up food before work.
Old School Okazuya's Rule......
Based on recent reviews I decided to check this bento place out. Drove down Makaloa Street and found the small establishment. Looking at all different items they offered on the outside window. I ordered the SP1 Broiled Salmon & Mochiko Chicken Bento $7.45 also the Miso Butter Fish Bento $10.95. Both bento's included a bowl of miso soup.
The young gentleman taking taking the order was very polite and friendly but did take awhile to take my order. Also I might note that communication wasn't to good between the front and the back kitchen. So what I thought was going to be 10-15min wait, took like 25minutes.
I was excited to eat bento anyway....my thoughts about the bento's
SP1 Broiled Salmon & Mochiko Chicken:
Broiled Salmon was kind of bland,(if they included a lemon slice it would have helped).
Mochiko Chicken was pretty good, cooked nicely.
Miso Butter Fish:
Butter Fish was very good, cooked perfectly (Can't beat K.Azama's one though OMG heavenly good)
The gobo and other side in the bento were very good. Miso soup was just ok.
Parking is tight and I think I'll call in the order next time...Will try here again!
If there is poke and pupu's in Heaven...then it must come from Alicia's Market!
Roast Pork,Steak,Char Siu ,turkey tails and many many more meats.
Poke galore! Every kind of poke you could want (I love the wasbi masago poke).
Pastele,Hawaiian foods and plate lunches to order.
Best boiled peanuts! Hands down!
Pre-made sashimi and assorted pupu plates for sale.
Too Many Items to list!! (Sorry my mouth is watering now!)
Fast and Friendly people that are very helpful.
Alicia's Market is your one stop store for your PARTY NEEDS!!!
When do you go to KFC?
When you are craving for some fried chicken?
When you have to bring something for potluck?
When your too lazy to make something for the animals at home?
For me..It's when I have a groupon or a Hot Deal coupon or when the Mrs. says... Musubi and chicken sounds good Ya!(Guess who got to make the Musubi's? Yup! ...Oh and pick up the chicken..Yup!)
It's seems like every time I go to KFC it's more and more expensive...Mmmmm?
Friendly staff behind the counter.
What can you say about a place that sells Ham?
I can say that they do it to perfection! Not only does Honey Glaze Hams sell their famous Hams, but they also do sandwiches and soup as well.
I frequent this place and have never wrote a review till now. It's hard to believe that there is so little reviews about HGH and yet they have been around quite a while.
I'm not going to review the 'Whole Ham" thing. We normally go there to pick up soup and sandwiches to go.
This last time I came to HGH I ordered the Ham on a French Roll and Portuguese Bean soup. The sandwich like always stacked with tender slices of perfectly cooked moist glazed ham. Biting into the sandwich you can just taste the sweetness of the ham and combine with the saltiness of the portuguese bean soup makes a great combination. They also have Turkey sandwiches.(For You Non Pork Eaters) yelp.com/biz_photos/TKoQ…
They also sell soup mixes for those leftover ham meat and ham bones. yelp.com/biz_photos/TKoQ…
Friendly service and Parking available in lot.
Just a note if you never been here. West bound on King St it's the 1st driveway after The Humane Society.
Have a Hammy Day!
We came here before going to the Pacific Ink & Art Expo. I must have past Harry's Cafe hundreds of times and really had no interest in eating here till I read Anthony C. review on this place. So I thought what a perfect time to eat here since we going to the Expo. (Thank You Anthony C. for your review! Spot On!).
We found parking on the street and walked in to Harry's Cafe, I looked around, the counter has some stools open but decided to take the open table in the corner. We seated ourselves and soon were greeted by our server. (I'm mean fast when I say soon). She took our order for water, coffee and said she would be right back. Now comes the fun part...which to me is cool..the food menu is spread out all around on the walls! yelp.com/biz_photos/Z0YJ…
Of course there is a stand holding a board with the Specials written on it.
This cafe is a throw back in time and I felt so comfortable, It was like eating in somebody's Moms old house in Kaimuki/Kapahulu area. ( If you can relate to that)
I order the Lup Chong W/2 eggs and fried rice $7.75 yelp.com/biz_photos/Z0YJ…
I really enjoyed the sweetness of the Lup Chong and how it was cooked really well.
Fried rice wasn't loaded with all the goodies but I finally found someone who puts the same amount of oyster sauce as me! I mean finally!
The other dish was a scrambled eggs and rice w/Portuguese Sausage.
The eggs were scrambled well as request and the sausage were very tasty.
Finally the Service: 5 STARS (If I could give her 6 Stars I would)
It has been awhile since I received such great and friendly service. I should use the word Super Attentive for this server! Awsume!
I'd be a fool not to come back here again and eat when I'm in the area!
Thanks again for your review Anthony C. ( you too Misty P.)!!
Whats is so Special about W&M Bar-B-Q-Burgers?????
I have been coming to W&M's since I was small and when they were located originally on the corner of 9th Avenue and Waialae. The burgers have never changed and always made me come back for more. Granted you won't get your all natural beef hamburger here. What you are going to get is just a simple damm good tasting Hamburger or BBQ Rib-Eye Steak Burger!
Simple Menu: kuromoto.com/gallery/wmb…
Expect a wait when ordering...
Parking stalls are limited and tight.
Adventured into the Makai Market Food Court again....
This time I chose to eat something from Paradise Cafe.
PC sells salads, fruits, muffins, cookies, soups and sammies. yelp.com/biz_photos/oPtz…
I have purchased cookies and muffins from PC before. All which were pretty good...Not great but good..
My 2 stars is for first of all how they greet customers: I walk up to the counter after looking up at the posted menu items. The girl behind the counter doesn't say a word....Mmmm should I start using hand signals or do a Jedi mind trick....*_* "I want to order a beef dip sandwich" "You want to order a beef dip sandwich" OMG! It's working..not really..lol! ,But I should have stop when I asked her my choices of bread.
They only offered White, Wheat and Panini bread..I was looking more for a french bread or a baguette..I SHOULD HAVE STOPPED MY ORDER....
*Beef Dip Sandwich : Roast beef thrown between two slices of bread with a instant add hot water "Au Jus" !...fail !!!! I should have told them to add more hot water because it was a little salty, put in the meat in Au Jus and bought rice...lol! yelp.com/biz_photos/oPtz…
This review is strictly for the service I received that day and the beef dip sandwich.
"Livin in Hawaii but "No Paradise found today"
This small Korean Restaurant on Piikoi Street was what the doctor ordered for me today..
We stopped by Chodangs after reading about their food item specials which run daily from 7am-1am. and a couple of dishes.
*Yukkyejang( Hot shredded beef soup) $5.99 yelp.com/biz_photos/Ummf…
* Meat Jun $4.99 yelp.com/biz_photos/Ummf…
Yukkyejang, Meat Jun plate along with rice and the small sides dishes were just right for a quick bite to eat, not wanting to get over stuffed. The Yukkyejang was hot and spicy..Which was perfect for my head from drinking till late the night before. :)
For the Meat Jun, I have had better before but for $4.99! Mama didn't raise no fool!
Service could have been a little better but it didn't really didn't bother me..I was here to eat and make my head happy!
What there's a Gordon Biersch near Gates 27 & 28 ???
Hell ya there is!!
They have 4-5 GB draft beers on tap and a full bar.
GB serves breakfast till 10:00am.
Soups,Salads,Sammies,Crab Cakes and of course those Famous GB Garlic Fries!..
So whether your flying out early or late it good to know that GB is here to satisfy thirst or hunger needs.
Aloha! Have a great safe flight!
Shhhh! Let me tell you a Secret about Secret Pizza....
*Their White Pizza is off the hook!
*Crust? Crazy Crispy Crust! Crunch with every bite!
*SP is located on the 3rd floor of the Cosmo
*SP is open till Mon, Fri-Sun 11 am - 5 am Tue-Thu 11 am - 4 am

I had to stop by Rocco's on the advice of Nelson Q. ..Now that's some LV Yelp love!
Walked into Rocco's NY Italian Deli and was greeted right away,Oh man I am loving this place. Whats is not to love about a place filled with Huge containers of Olive Oil,Specialty Can Goods,Meats and Deserts. I felt like I was warped into a deli in NY.
The atmosphere in this place is so relaxing, there's just a feeling of happiness I get when I'm in a place like this..Anyway back to food..
I order the Pastrami & Corned Beef on rye. yelp.com/biz_photos/rocc… Also the homemade chips yelp.com/biz_photos/rocc…
If you ever saw Man Vs Food that is how I felt like when the sandwich came out. Holy Shitzz! The combination and flavor of the two meats was just heaven, add the wonderful chips and washing it down with a cream soda...What can I say but Awesome!
TODAY MY FRIENDS..MAN WON!! I ate the whole thing! (I felt light headed after though..lol!!)
Will be back to try more!
