Saturday's brunch is brought to you by the letter B. I had brown sugar bacon, buttermilk pancakes and bottomless mimosas. The brown sugar bacon was so delicious. I wasn't crazy about the pancakes, but I think that was just my taste preference. We kept our waiter busy with the bottomless mimosas, so much that he finally brought out a carafe. He was super sweet!
We were going to sit outside, but the sun was beating down just a little too hard so I was afraid of getting sunburned. We sat inside at the big garage door window so it was like being outside without being outside. When we saw a baby's diaper being changed at a table outside we were grateful for our decision to be inside with out the window open. WTF parents?
You know you had a good time, and like a place if you stay for over two hours. I'll definitely be back.
This is a great brunch place, and good place to watch football. That's if you can get past the horrible parking, and all of the kids. They have $10 carafes of mimosas or bloody marys. They are not bottomless. I had the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit, and it was so yummy. Cheap too. Bonus that they have TV's on the patio to watch games. The crowd on the patio wasn't as enthusiastic as the crowd inside, though.
PS - they have 1/2 priced food after 4 on Tuesdays.
Finally checked out their Saturday brunch. I was so sad I didn't order the biscuits and gravy, but luckily it's enough food for two people so I got quite a few bites of my friends. The biscuits are so fluffy. The gravy with Jimmy's sausage is just so good. Best breakfast item I've eaten in a while.
I'm here spreading the Ellen's love again. I just adore this place, but the service has been s-l-o-w a few times, so don't come here if you are in a hurry, but with bottomless mimosas I plan on camping out for a while anyway.
I'm so unoriginal and have stuck with the breakfast each time, but it's because I love it so. The hash browns especially. On my last visit my friend ordered the chicken fried steak with fried okra, and of course I had to try both. O.M.G. I'm not even that big on CFS, but this shiz was the shiz. I'm not sure what type of breading they used on the okra, but it was different, kinda cornmealy, but good.
Word is definitely out on this place. It was packed this past Sunday, but luckily for us there was an open table at the bar so no wait. Woot.
PS - last couple of times I checked in on yelp got 10% off.
Aw poor Old Monk, can't believe I have never updated my review from 2009, and why wouldn't I have given them 5 stars back then? It's still one of my favorite pub style places. Just discovered their Saturday/Sunday brunch menu, and the good is as delicious as the rest of the food. I noticed they also will let you valet with Fireside Pies, which is awesome because that parking lot can be a bitch.
