...and then all was right with the world.
I have the utmost respect for Tigelleria- the people who work there and the owners. Why? Because they truly care about your dining experience and believe in the quality of their product/service.
After my friends and I had an awful experience here during the winter - I was contacted by Tigelleria (yes, they cared enough and were able to do a little (appreciated) detective work to reach me) and asked to come back in so that could right the wrongs. It wasn't until this past weekend that schedules permitted, but I am SO glad I did. My Saturday visited boosted my confidence in Tigelleria and made me a believer again in the wonderful dining experience that can be had.
And so, we imbibed prosecco and wine and dined on the SPQR with a few add ons. You MUST try their apricot spread as well as their pear spread. dynamite!
Next up - the pesche al pomodoro (my FAVORITE seasonal salad here) and caprese salad.
Two of us got the pappa al pomodoro and my other friend chose their duck. If you are not afraid of bread - do try the pappa al pomodoro. It's like an Italian version of stuffing and actually quite light. The petto d'anatra al vincotto was great. Thanks to Mandy F for sharing a bite!
By this time we were verging on full - but the pesche melba on the dessert list looked so tempting. It arrived and wasn't quite what I had envisioned - but it was pretty good. I only had a bite of it... ok, I had a few bites :)
Also, do try their homemade limoncello. It's tart with just the right amount of sweetness.
I'm so happy we went back.
Whether it be risotto, butternut squash ravioli's or the osso bucco every dish here is plated extremely well and pleasing to the palate.
Cocktails here are phenomenal and the wait staff is great.
I recommend this dimly lit yet warm restaurant for any special occasion or just to treat yourself to an excellent meal.
Great family owned restaurant. I've been going to Fiorillo's for just about 8 years now... and have always had excellent experiences. Their chicken rollatini is phenomenal... my favorite dish there. They oysters are also really good...
Granted it was the same weekend as the Union St Fair.... but the guy who might have been the manager was extremely cold and gruff. Apparently they weren't serving glasses of wine a la carte....... so we ordered some salads and two entrees. Talk about an up-sell. The staff, with their seemingly fake Italian accents were still fairly pretentious.
My first experience with Cafe Rosso & Bianco was so-so. We were seated up front toward the open cafe seating... but felt squashed as we were extremely close to the table of 6 next to us. I suppose ask for a booth seat if you don't want to feel like sheep grazing. The waitress was overwhelmed by how busy her section was, and while nice, was really slow.
The menu had some unique salad options and your basics as far as pastas are concerned. Overall, I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars.... because while it wasn't that spectacular, I'd return to try out their pizza.
I despise Maggiano's. Think Olive Garden, upgraded. If you're into unauthentic Italian dishes... knock yourself out. The only plate I found worthwhile is the chicken saltimbocca. Other than that.. it's simply overpriced glorified nonsense.
meh. Nothing to write home about. I mean, it was tasty enough, just not spectacular. Ordered the combination pizza and a Hawaiian. The combination needed more sauce.. or tomatoes or SOMETHING. It was also cooked a WEE bit too long, making the crust nearly unpleasant to chew.
