This place is incredible!!! I know of no other self-serve frozen yogurt places in Connecticut, so it's automatically the best of its kind. The decor is so cute, very reminiscent of a kid's coloring book. And the yogurt... oh goodness. The cake batter flavor tastes pheNOMenal, especially with the cheesecake bit toppings. The price is right, too, at only 50cents per ounce.
What a great place -- I can't wait to go back to try the red velvet cake flavor!! :9
I have a helluva time choosing what I want every time I go into Mozzicato, as the selection is ridiculous (in the best way possible). I have tried the cookies (the amaretti are delightful!), pastries (they have some kind of lemon ricotta pastry that was simply per. fect.), and the tiramisu (unfortunately, nothing to write home about). Because it's Easter season, they have rice and ricotta pies available, so on my most recent visit this past weekend, just had to get one. Rice pie is my absolute favorite.
The pie is infused with an overwhelming lemon flavor. It was delicious, don't get me wrong, but I prefer citrusy undertones instead of having it dominate the flavor of the pie. It did not stop me from having two slices, though.
My suggestion is that you must try this bakery! There is something for everyone, and more often than not, you can't go wrong.
In my opinion, this is the ONLY Sundae School location that counts. The one in Harwich totally gyps you on the sundae (they don't even come in a pretty glass -- they give it to you in a stumpy ol' plastic dish!) and it doesn't have the charming interior like this one. I've been going here every summer since I was a little girl and it has become a wonderful and unforgettable family tradition. They have great ice cream and a great, cozy atmosphere (how can you not love that quirky nickelodeon?!) -- definitely a must-see on the Cape!
Try the Pirate Pandemonium flavor, or if you're feeilng really indulgent: a mini split with two scoops of coconut topped with blueberries! All I can say is YUM!
Three words: best. cannoli. ever. Don't expect to get a seat though! This place was jammin' when I went and no one looked like they were getting up any time soon.
Next time I return I can't wait to try the red velvet cupcake and/or whoopie pie!
I just love Dish N Dat. The atmosphere is really cool, sort of a throwback to the diners of yore, the menu is huge (I can literally never decide what I want), and the food is creative and tasty. I recommend their burgers: the day after Thanksgiving burger is such a unique and delicious idea! I have never had a problem with the quality of the food or service. There is a lovely woman who often works as a hostess and a waitress who never disappoints. She's friendly, prompt, makes the customers feel really comfortable, and anticipates our needs every time we're in.
We got 15% coupons the last few times we were in, not that we would even need an incentive to return... definitely one of my boyfriend and I's favorite restaurants! Can't wait to try the fried mac & cheese.
I love a cute little tea house, and Tisane is the best one I've found in the Hartford area... one of the only ones that really fits the bill, actually.
They have a nice selection of teas, though it's not as extensive as I might wish. The prices are incredible -- a huge cup of masala chai with steamed milk for less than $2! You can't beat that.
I cannot say I've ever eaten a meal there, but the desserts are delicious. If you're a chocolate fan, the warm chocolate brownie a la mode is the way to go -- I prefer the vanilla lemongrass creme brulee, it has amazing flavor. I have yet to try the peanut butter cup fondue and the bontons (chocolate filled wontons... yes please!!), but I can't wait to!
The atmosphere was nice enough, appropriate for a romantic dinner, I'd say. The food at Luce is quite good, but honestly nothing to write home about. I ordered the sea scallops when I went and the pomegranate reduction was a bit overpowering, actually. I wasn't too impressed with our raw oyster appetizer either. It was just very meh... up until dessert.
The reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 3 was because of the absolutely deLICIOUS ricotta cheesecake I had for dessert. It was faaaantastic. I would go back just for that. I don't know where they get it or who makes it, but major kudos to them!
When my monster of a sweet tooth attacks, my go-to ice cream place is Praline's. It's in the neighborhood and they have an impressive selection of good ice cream at a good price. They offer soft serve and a variety of sundaes, smoothies, and other ice cream treats for you and your family, the dog included!
I could write a glowing review of Praline's homemade whipped cream alone. It's delicious, as good as my grandma's (but don't tell her I said that), and the selling point of their sundaes.
I'll always prefer Rita's frozen custard to Praline's, but if I'm in the mood for a variety of flavors and toppings, Praline's is the way to go.
