Love it! Going back tonight. This reminded me of old Hollywood. During the time when you would see Sinatra, Dino, and Debbie Reynolds at the piano bar. The food was excellent and for the price you can't beat it.
Picture it - You walk in, lights are dim, oil paintings of half nude women on velvet, piano located middle/back, usually someone singing, and people dancing to the oldies. People watching at its finest.
I lived here my entire life and was introduced to this hidden jewel not too long ago. I can't wait for a happy hour. I love the part where the salad is served in a large bowl and you can serve yourself. Every meal I have had whether it be steak or chicken as been great. Also, once you attend a happy hour at Albie's you will leave feeling fulfilled.
Anthony's has sentimental value for me. With that said the last star is dedicated to my father.
I grew up going to Anthony's and now that I live a couple of miles away I keep returning. The seafood is always fresh, clam chowder is yummy and the appetizers are always worth coming back for. For some reason the bar area reminds me of a fishbowl when you enter.
This was my dad's favorite place to go. There is a huge lake that resembles a lagoon in the back and we use to feed the ducks from the time I was little until I grew up. I finally went back after my dad's passing in January and it brought back wonderful memories.
Thank you Dad for the memories (I miss you) and thank you Anthony's for never changing.
I have to say once I found parking I had worked up an appetite. I am not kidding when I say I parked across the way by Target. Even though it was crowded we were seated pretty quick. Our waitress was nice and friendly and seemed to time the visits to our table just right. None of this "Is everything okay" right in the middle of a good yapping session. The BBQ chicken pizza was Yummy in my tummy and we had some of the best margaritas.
I am not always that thrilled with chain restaurants but Bj's is definitely an exception. I think Bj's would be great with a group or family. It may be too loud for a first date. However, if you don't want to get too intimate go ahead and try it. Who knows? If it doesn't work out you could probably go into the bar area and meet someone else.
I found out about Beef and Bun one night while at a friends house, She yelled to her husband "How about Beef & Bun honey" I said "Excuse me" We both started laughing and she told me it was the best place for burgers, fries and shakes. She wasn't just whistling Dixie. Next thing you know "Ole Jed's a Millionaire" I was mowing on a chocolate peanut butter shake, juicy bacon cheeseburger and yummy fried zucchini. I must say this might not be the place if you are watching your diet. But honey, once in a while we all have to let our hair down and live a little. In fact I think I'm going to venture over there right now. See ya!
This is my favorite place to go for many reasons. The food is delicious, the happy hour is reasonable, atmosphere is relaxing, the drinks are made just right and for me it is close to home. Wednesday night is ladies night and bottles of wine are half off. Friday the place is packed but well worth it. The fish tacos, calamari and spinach salad are my favorite. If it gets too crowded inside you can also find seating outside in two areas.
If you go to the website provided below and sign up you can receive some great offers. Free appetizers on birthdays, 1/2 off coupons and Meet at the Brig information which tells you when each Brigantine restaurant is having a special event. (good for all locations).
I also want to mention TV's in different locations of the bar for those of you that don't want to miss any sports/entertainment events.
This is great food, Friendly atmosphere. Been there a few times and really enjoyed it. Really interesting cuisine but comes together to create a really good dining experience.
There was a table that was located by a candle that had melted over a portion of the table. It was called "The Candle Table". You should ask for this table when you go.
Oops! minus 1 star because I dropped my napkin and I cannot find it because it is so dark. I am not joking, the candle did not give off enough light to locate my napkin. Here I am looking under the table to find my napkin. "Waiter, can I have another napkin"? Wow! that waiter was fast. Napkin within seconds.
Bartenders made the best drinks and the service was one to write home about. Can't wait to return.
I won't begin with the obvious "Punk Rock Denny's" because I will leave that to the other yelpers that are more familiar with it.
Ask for Kelly..She is a great waitress. Always smiling, happy and quick. Anyone who can smile while waiting on this cow herding group ranks high on my list.
The cappuccinos are the best and what is it about the house dressing? Forget the catsup, I'll use the dressing for my fries. Service is quick and the atmosphere is always pleasant.
For those of you that like to try and win stuffed animals they even have the best claw machine, animals are loosely fit. With sheer talent I've even walked away with two.
Denny's on any good morning or evening night will always be "Moon over my Hammy" okay.....a little cheesy!

Apple Nut Bread, Raisin Bread, Potato Bread...My favorite Jalapeno Bread...Yummieee!. They have cookies, pies, fruit bars and will even ship your purchase to that lucky someone. I love this little store. While I sat outside eating my bread and drinking my mimosa it sort of reminded me of an old western. Especially when I saw the cute guy from the back walk up saying "can I help you?" Reminded me of Little Ben from Bonanza. OMG!!!! How many drinks did I have!!!!
Well we were all full of bread and journeyed our way into the town of Julian. That doesn't mean we didn't stop on the way back for yet.....More bread...Please try it...It was good even without mimosa's

YUMMY! I just went in again to order another cake. I can't begin to tell you how many cakes I have ordered here throughout the years. I ordered my first wedding cake years ago to follow-up with a cake for my divorce party 7 years later. Since then Flour Power cakes have seen me through at least 4 birthday's of my own, 3 cakes for surprise parties, 4 children's birthday parties, baby showers and yes another wedding. I have never had a negative experience. The employee's are helpful and they can make just about anything imaginable. Also, If you want something different they make some great cookies, pastries and cupcakes.
If you are getting married there is a private room at the side where you can meet with a coordinator and sample different flavors. Most of the time you can order the week before and pick up on Saturday between the hours of 9am-2pm. Looks like I will be there once again.
I may have only had sangria this time around but it was some good sangria. The waitress was friendly and very accommodating. She brought some great bread with garlic/pesto but I want to apologize to any Yelpers in attendance if I made your hair go back as I talked.
Thanks Joe C for putting this together and here's to many more get togethers in the future: ***clink clink*** with my sangria glass.
I am so glad I made it to this event...And what a great party this was. Bite made me want to come back for more. To think I was feeling nervous about walking in and not knowing what to expect. Everyone was very nice and easy to talk to with. Can't believe two hours went by so fast. I can finally put faces/personalities to reviews.
The appetizers were great and the champagne kept pouring. Of course it wasn't as if I didn't keep walking up to the bartender asking for more to be poured.
Thank you Bite and Yelpers for making this event so special. I noticed how friendly and accommodating the staff was and can't wait to go back and try out more.
I will start with my experience pre-party and finish post-party.
Next Saturday we are having a birthday luau at our home. One of those parties that begins with 15-20 people and has now grown to 70-80. In the past I have always thought I could organize events and everyone would have a great time. Before I continue I would like to say that L & L Barbecue was the one positive decision up to this point.
It all started when I decided to try Oriental Trading Company for the decorations. I was so excited to look at the pictures and see the Hawaiian shirt invitations along with the blow-up palm tree cooler, limbo rock kit, party bags and gifts. I ordered on-line and within 3 days I had my shipment sitting on my front door step. My kids and I opened the boxes and I was shocked to see the invitations being miniature of what I saw in the catalog. I tried to stay positive for my daughters sake because she was so excited to go through the box. The Limbo Kit consisted of wood you put together. However, we had to take a saw and nail file to get the grooves correct for the poles. Holes were in the palm tub (new one is on its way) and the gift bags that looked big enough to hold a beach towel were big enough to hold my MAC tube of lipstick. Oh well..I tried.
Next came the invites and who was coming. Since this was adults and children. My daughter made her list and after finishing the invites decided if this friend came she would have to invite this one and if these two were there the other one might be upset. That ordeal lasted until we went back and forth to the point where I was frustrated and she started crying. During this time my 4 year old had retrieved the envelopes and wrote H's with pride all on the front in back.............
........Two days later I decided to choose the food. At first I thought it would be fun to make bbq/katsu chicken, salads and rice. I even had a vision of a pig roasting by poolside. ( I know....and I would also be the one to hang it up). Reality set in and I realized it would be easier to have it catered. I called two different places before L&L and let me tell you, the first place I called had a girl blowing her nose throughout our entire conversation. She stated that delivery could not be guaranteed on the day of the event so pick-up would be my best bet. The second place I called had a gentleman pick up the phone and yell "just a minute" as someone was arguing back and forth about an employee having to leave early for the day. Not to mention I was put on hold for over 5 minutes.
Finally L&L to the rescue. Living in Fletcher Hills there are numerous locations so I thought I would try Santee. I called and heard the most pleasant voice on the other end. I was speaking to Kelly, the manager. Not only did she email me the menu but she went over every food item, quantities, presentation and price. Our conversation
last ed for about 15 minutes and she suggested set-up ideas and even said they could deliver... no problem. Once I got off the phone and reviewed the menu I called back and spoke to Sherry. She was just as pleasant and helpful as Kelly and made sure I was completely satisfied before hanging up.
Our party is 4/19th so after it is over I will write more about the food and the service. i just wanted to start this while it was fresh in my mind.......................................................to be continued....
The party has came and went and I still love L&L BBQ. The food was yummy, delivery was right on time and I even received a follow-up phone call from one of the managers (RICHARD). I think Richard oversees some of the L&L BBQ's and was very nice and polite. The best part was he acknowledged my YELP review and gave me his direct line in case I need any help in the future. I thought that was a very nice gesture and I will definitely be coming back to L&L.
LIDO'S. So much I could say....and the memories to go along with it....
I started going here in high school. It was the place to be after Friday night football games. In college I would gather with friends and have pizza and beer, and now we take the family here for Friday night dinners. I've heard some people say the pizza is too greasy. However, to me it is one of the best. Lot's of cheese and the sauce is to die for.
The best thing about Lido's is if you are seriously hungry you will immediately get cheese, crackers and pepperoni to snack on. If you run out they will generously bring you more.
I provided a link to check out. You will notice they have prices from their opening in the 50's comparing it to the prices of today. Imagine if we could see the same comparison with gas prices...........
Here's to Lido's! May you be in business for another 50 years.
I am glad I made it to this event. I can honestly say I thought the food was yummy, the drinks well made and Yelpers make great company. I brought my friend who recently joined Yelp and she was glad she did after meeting so many wonderful people. Marisol has a huge smile and was very welcoming, Abigail I loved it that you were taking pictures and dancing on one of the cubes, Bill that was very cool that you had your daughter with you, Alisa has a way about her that makes you feel at ease, Caroline is always so friendly and it was nice to put faces to reviews of those I just met. Ruggy, thanks for all you do.
We were discussing one thing...Could you imagine that being your wedding reception on the other side of the pool with the loud blaring music while people walked around with assorted hats. Let's hope their photographer didn't get any fedoras or condom hats in the background of the photos.
Wait a minute...for a second I remember dancing in daylight....
.....Once again another fun party!
Why haven't I seen this before? I literally almost ran the light because I was so busy checking out the swanky drive-thru Starbucks.
Listened to the radio and traffic was backed up. Took Lake Murray Blvd. and lo & behold there it was! Jed..I struck gold! No more waiting in lines before work, no more having to get out of my car. All I have to do is pull in, order and go. Let me mention the looks of this place seem to be somewhat retro. Very cool!
To be honest with you I have never been a huge Starbucks fan. However, this location is now my new best friend in the morning.
Can't wait to go back! Everything about this restaurant I loved. I am quite picky when it comes to seafood so this was definitely the place for me. Reminded me of old Hollywood upon entering. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was outstanding. Started with champagne and the large seafood appetizer. Everything about this appetizer was amazing. Shrimp, oysters, crab legs, and everything was so fresh. I was so full that once my entree came around I needed to take it home. Oh by the way, the crabcakes were great in the morning.
East County needed a Riviera Club. We were at the Brig and a friend told me about this place and I am so happy he did. So far La mesa/East county has the likes of the Charcoal House and Norma Jeans. As other Yelpers have said "The drinks are strong" Understatement...."THE DRINKS ARE STRONG: One vodka with a splash of cranberry sent me into a kamikaze down spin. Service was quick and the overall atmosphere was good. Great way to begin 2009!
I needed a place
A place of my own
A place to entertain
Where I had my own phone.
No drinking and driving
A place very near
To have a mixed drink
Or some wine and some beer
This room was for storage
which was part of the garage
It was built on a slant
however quite large
We ripped it apart
Oh what a sight
We put down the carpet
And made it real bright
I did it exactly
how I thought it should be
It has my computer
also a TV
"Tiki Lounge is the name
Of my much needed space
When some rest is much needed
While living this race
My friends come on over
before we go out
We kick back and talk
It's pleasant...no doubt
So please see my pictures
My room comes alive
With colors and pillows
My quaint little dive.
What is it about this place I love:
First and foremost just driving to this restaurant makes me feel good. I call it one of those "Feel Good Restaurants". The view across the harbor is just amazing as people jog by looking as if they are extras in the opening credits. Right when I drive up I get a settling feeling of the atmosphere around me.
We came here Sunday for brunch. The presentation was amazing. It reminded me of a cruise and looking out at the water. I had eat and peel shrimp, which by the way I could stay with this and be happy, Great salad bar, omelets, enchiladas, veggies, excellent prime rib, a dessert set-up to die for and of course I can't forget the mimosa's. A little bubbly never hurt anyone, except of course you wake up after indulging the night before.
The cost was $26.95 which I thought was reasonable. I've been to places which cost double and wasn't half impressed. If you get a chance go outside downstairs and take a walk around. The scenery is beautiful. Please be careful if you feel a breeze. There was a lady looking over the side and the wind crept up to show her polka dotted panties.
This was a great experience and I can't wait to go back and try the lunch buffet. For that matter I would like to go back for happy hour. Up top in the bar area looked like lots of fun.
Dear Yogurt Express
First off I couldn't believe how inexpensive your yogurt is. This is even with the candy bar crunches that weigh your yogurt down another %. I love the fact that students receive an additional 25%.
Now on to your flavors, I was watching my waistline recently and noticed that your Wow-Cow has about 40 calories/serving. I would have never known it was sugar free if it hadn't been for the posting above the flavor. Now that I am back in business and eating big I love the Angel Food Cake as well as Snickers and Ghiardelli chocolate. The thing here is all your flavors are better than frozen yogurt. I just wish I knew the extra additive that is mixed in to make it so good.
I also love the fact that Yogurt Express is also no-nonsense. I downloaded my own yogurt so easily so I didn't have to worry about someone doing it for me. This also worked well for sampling because I could go at my own pace and try all eight. Oh, by the way sorry Yogurt Express for looking like such a pig, however, I did end up buying 7 mediums with topping.
Yogurt Express you added a little kick to my walk as I exited your place. Thank you for being so nice, clean and welcoming and I will always be returning.
Absolutely FABULOUS! These are the two words that come to mind when I enter The Zodiac. Take the escalator to the top floor of Neiman Marcus, go straight back to the right corner. My manager had my baby shower here over 5 years ago and it was the perfect place for an event. I hadn't been back until that same manager, which is one of my closest friends took me here last week. They start you off with some yummy pastry bread with different types of butter. You have to try the different champagnes, definitely a champagne sipping atmosphere. Please request outside seating on a gorgeous day and you will be in your realm. Get this, matching napkins to match your attire. What every fashion diva dies for! Oh and did I mention the champagne! I ordered the best Chef salad to go with my bubbly. The staff was so pleasant and the absolute best and did I say the champagne was extraordinary! Hopefully you will feel the same way once you leave....Absolutely FABULOUS! And remember....champagne!
"Always! thinking outside the box."
