Okay let me say you should go, it is an iconic piece of Americana.
Dear Lord though, 2 plus hours of waiting for maybe 15 minutes of viewing St. Lewis.
The elevator up was the coolest part.
Your wait will be long, go on a weekday morning!
Beautiful view on the docks, in Forest Park which was amazingly beautiful and action packed. The beer was cold and they had an updated pub grub type of menu. It was good food, more like A-ok not great. The service was A-ok too but the location pops it up to 4 star experience. If it were a sunny summer Sunday this would be the place to be in St. Louie!
We squeaked in early on a Friday evening and everything was beautiful.
The service was attentive although a little confused on timing.
Timing is super important in a tapas setting.
We ate a lot and drank a lot, the sangria was delicious everything was fresh.
I swear to god that I ate enough plantains and salsa to turn me into a plantain!
They were freaking delish!
The food was great too.
We had Peruvian about a month before this in Chicago and we were painfully disappointed, we were thrilled by Mango.
Thanks St. Louie!
This was truly the highlight of our trip.
Beautiful, amazing, informative, great guide and just plain fun.
The small child loved it and so did we, it is a do not miss experience.
It was expensive be prepared to throw down some cash but it was 100% worth every penny.
I recommend this to everyone, it was just as I remembered from my childhood maybe even better!
I am giving this place a 5 star review.
We had the awful fortune of ending our little vacation getaway to St Louis over Easter weekend with the small child having an appendix attack. Yes, the morning after Easter, in an unknown city, my 6 year old son needed an emergency room. We were in Forest Park the day before and we saw the sign for St. Louis Children's Hospital
Let me just say one thing to any parent, if there is a children's hospital 20 minutes away or a regular hospital in your back yard ALWAYS, ALWAYS bring your child to the children's hospital unless it is a life or death situation.
Now, let me tell you what I thought of St. Louis Children's: It was the best staff I have ever experienced in any hospital. They were truly amazing. I would recommend this hospital to anyone. They were so child focused and parent inclusive it was truly amazing!
Small child had the surgery and they were kind, thoughtful and caring from beginning to end.
Thank you St. Louis Children's for taking such good care of my son.
This is it, the one thing in St. Louis that we wandered around to find that really did not live up to the hype.
It was an interesting experience, I have never seen a store front quite like it, it was large you walked through a room to get to another room where there was one counter with one person and a menu of gooey butter cakes. There was no cake display, they were all in back I guess. All this space and not a product to be seen. The setup looked like a front for some other perhaps not legitimate business; think bookie or massage parlor. Really strange.
We ordered an original for our $11.00 and left.
It was tasty but it tasted a lot like the metal pan it was served and probably cooked in.
Anyway, it was an experience!
You were open so we went.
As weary travelers looking for an open restaurant on Easter night in downtown St. Louis we were super grateful you were open. We shall make no complaint about the super overly taxed server and bartender running the restaurant on the holiday night. We were again glad you were there, even though we waited and waited we were glad to finally receive our decent Irish fare.
You were truly a life saver and a-ok thanks for the nourishment!
The cocktails and food were really delicious. We went twice in our 5 day stay in St. Louis. We loved the pizza and the appetizers. It was very pricey for pizzas but they had great happy hour specials. Service was excellent.
I would go again in a heartbeat.
We were driving to St. Louis and we wanted to stop for lunch, I of course hopped on
Super Yelp and found this place in our states capital a little ways off the highway.
We got lunch that was tasty, nothing to die for but good solid café lunch. The place oozes charm and is an amazingly beautiful old mansion, that was worth the stop in itself. Well let me tell you why you should get off the highway and go: THE MACAROONS!
These are the best macaroons that I have ever had. Just writing this is making me want to drive 4 hours to Sprinfield to get some. I have to tell you I have had some serious macaroon experience on the other side of the pond and I stand by this statement these were hands down undisputedly the best!
So glad we stopped!
Well Thanks to Cakes by Carlos I really am no longer a size six! Kidding, it really isn't their fault that they put a serious dent in my will power. They are friendly, welcoming and they really know their stuff, which is CAKES! Crazy good excellent technique resulting in beautiful and delicious cake. I am almost a regular and I have to say they have really earned my 5 stars. My whole family is hooked!
Even my least favorite cake in the world, red velvet tastes good. Maybe they have a secret ingredient, like maybe sugar:)
