Hey gang!  Just wondering if any of you know of a STORE that sells fresh Cheese Curds.   I know that Culver's and Tony's sells fried Cheese Curds but I'm trying to track down the uncooked/packaged variety.

Unfortunately I don't know of anyone here in the Springs, I'm sure there is someone who does but. . . .

I haven't ordered from them in a long time but their curds were fabulous!  Especiallly the garlic, but I don't see the garlic curds on their website so maybe they don't sell them anymore.  Good luck on your curd quest.

King Soopers on Academy/Austin Bluffs carries cheese curds.  You can find them over by the deli, in the import cheese section.   I've purchased them in hopes that they were as good as the squeaky cheese Wisconsin deliciousness, but they're just mediocre at best.

@ Emmy, thanks!  I'll check them out.  You're the first person to even know where to find them locally.  My northern friends have said that you can microwave them a couple of seconds and make them squeaky again.  We'll see.

I'm curious to know if that works.  You'll have to update the outcome!

Emmy, you are absolutely right.  Those "cheese curds" were total crap.  I shouldn't have bought them because it looked like they had melted or something.  Then they were super super soft.  Not a single squeak.  My wife tried one and gave me the other half of the little curd.  I put them in the freezer and will see if that will firm them up.  We shall see.

That's a bummer about the cheese curds.  I think I would rather eat cheese wiz before eating those crappy curds.

I paid a visit to the King Soopers on Uintah today.  They have a great import cheese section!!!  If you love cheese, the Gran Cru Gruyere is highly recommended!!!  Anyway, I saw they they had a different brand of cheese curds called Hennings.  They looked much better that the other brand.  They're located in the back cheese case near the deli.  I didn't buy them this trip, perhaps this weekend!.

Thanks!  I might give the Hennings a try.

If you don't mind driving 2.5 hours, there's cheese curds at the Cozy Cow Dairy in Windsor, CO.

Tim- this topic got a pretty big thread in Denver recently. There's a local dairy in Longmont that sells them and has them at a local brewery

@Jen, weird.  I called them and they said they don't carry them.  But I want the squeaky kind anyways.  I guess I'll have to take a permanent Lent fast from them. :(
