    Hello

Does anyone know any churches that offer adult confirmation classes?  I was baptized as a child and was never confirmed.

I heard there were some places that you can get confirmed in a month or two

    Thanks

usually confirmation classes are 2 years long. i went through a confirmation class in less than 10 weeks, but that was with a catholic center in college (not near here).

That's a good idea.. you should pitch that to all the churches in the area! I'm gonna admit that I'm glad I got mine when I was in middle school. After 10 straight years of Sunday school! This isn't any help, but my mom once told me her friend got confirmed in the Philippines in one day! All she had to do was get interviewed by the priest, I think.

Well, here we are.   All you need to do is go talk to the priest of the church you have been going to 'religiously' since you've been baptised and lay it on him.

Wait.  You're a catholic?  OK. Then the priest who you visited every Easter and Christmas mass.

Wait...  You're a California catholic?  OK then......

You need to start communicating with churches.  Consider this.  If you really don't know anyone in the religious order to ask, perhaps it really doesn't mean as much to you as you thought.   Sorry for the cold water.

I kinda agree with John looking for a quick way out or an online class to complete your confirmation shows that it is most likely not that important to you...So why even bother? so you can have the catholic wedding in the church...I think it is worse to pretend to be something you aren't.

IM not judging I did all that traditional stuff when I was little since my grandparents were catholics and it was expected of us...but I can think for myself unlike when I was 6 or so...

    @ Shelia

It's not about being able to think for yourself...It's about having a drama free wedding

Confirmation isn't important to me at all.

@ John I never said I was a good catholic or consider myself catholic at all, just doing it for the grandparents' sake

The church classes start in September, and confirmation occurs in May.  I don't think that you can jump in half way through the process.  You have to wait until September.

    I'm in the same boat.

Technically I'm Catholic.  In real life I'm a GODDAMN pagan !   But I have 3 of the 4 sacraments and really, really, want the 4th! It would be like the final feather in my infidel cap!

2 years! Damn! I just want to finish want I started. How is it that accepting Jesus into your heart is instantaneous, but getting confirmed takes 2 years?  I got a pilot's license in 10 months and I'll bet your sweet Catholic ass that it was way more involved than any confirmation class. Hell, Army Basic Training was only 10 weeks ! and that was tough as hell.

2 years for Confirmation..... What a crock!  I'm going to bribe a Bishop. Maybe if I wear tight pants he'll do it fast and I can run away before he tries to unbuckle my belt.

Emma your best bet is to contact the Priest that will be officiating your Sacrament of Marriage in the Catholic Church. On February 25, 2009 is Ash Wednesday- the start of the Lent Season. You probably will be placed in a RCIA group (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), take classes & hopefully be confirmed by Easter. There are many Catholic Communities here in the bay area and I'm sure one of them will be willing to help you.

On another note, the Sacrament of Confirmation is what Catholics go through to openly to confirm our belief in Jesus Christ.

@Emma  I didn't mean to imply I was a good catholic.   Quite honestly, I've met few 'good' catholics.  My relationship with my God and Jesus are mine just as yours are yours.  Your grandparents need a truth.  Tell them you love him and he  loves you.  Tell them you will honestly work on your relationship with your religion as the time available permits.  Once you are later confirmed, you can always go through another ceremony for your grandparents (and for you if you want it).

I am not merely commenting in a thread.  If I can be of help, message me.  The honor is to serve.

I believe you should do what makes you happy Emma, not necessarily what you think will make your grandparents happy.

    Hi Emma,

You can call/visit Our Lady of Peace church and speak to Barbara.  (408) 988-8908. A few of my friends took accelerated classes to prepare for marriage or just to complete the whole process.  It usually takes about 6 months.

St Francis of Assisi in the evergreen area in san jose.  I think their program just started, but you can try to talk them into letting you join in late. If you start now, you'd be confirmed by late april

I live in Texas, and I just signed up for Adult Confirmation classes. The ones that were offered around this time were 5-6 weeks. My friends who were confirmed (not by CCD classes as a child) said their course was 6 weeks too!
