I just had lunch at Postino (review coming soon) and as I was driving through Arcadia, I was thinking how much I love that neighborhood. I used to live there and I miss it... great restaurants, access to the Canal, cool unique homes (both old and new), and more!
What is your favorite neighborhood in the Valley and why?
I enjoy an occasional drive-by through the Willow, Coronado, and Palmcroft districts. I consider my neighborhood to be the buffer zone that separates theses cool places from not-soo pretty side of town.
Hmmmm...I love Sun City. I really do. I'm glad my folks live in a clean, safe 'hood! I love Willow and I love Central Avenue, construction and all. I love Central as you head north from my place. Like Anytown USA! And a shout out to my former 'hood, DCRanch. Yes, it got to be a bit boring for me, but what a beautiful place to call home for a year of my life. And Oldtown. Sorry Scottsdalephobes! I love walking around Oldtown.
I love the Northern part of Central Ave as well. Often if I have to go up the PV area, I will take Central all the way to Mountain View. Of course I love Melrose and the shopping. Willo and Coronado, too!
I love the ghetto crackhouses in my neighborhood, which is in the warehouse district once known in Phoenix as "the Deuce". Our ghetto crackhouses are way cooler than the crackhouses in trendy hoods like Willo and Roosevelt.
I too love Central Ave area from Dunlap to Bethany Home. I grew up between Northern & Dunlap just west of there. It is my hood, and I love it. I am also in love with my current neighborhood which in in the Old Town area. I love biking to all the great places in Old Town!
Lastly, I am also a big fan of the Arcadia area Gabi referred to, it is in my work hood.
Gabi, I'm with you - I love Arcadia. If only I could afford to live there... not only is it beautiful, it has some history to it and it's close to downtown Scottsdale, not too far from the freeways, downtown Phoenix, etc...
