We experienced the same as reviewer Vanessa this weekend - although the new owners were trying they missed the mark. I have been in the F&B business for over 30 yrs and it is pretty easy to tell when a place misses the mark. The food was just OK - the starter of coconut shrimp was very good but the BBQ Brisket wasn't. Tough, dry and stringy. The shrimp and grits had great potential but once again was missing the mark. A large bowl of grits with lightly blackened shrimp on top. The grits should have been made with some chicken stock for added flavor but instead were quite bland. The food did come out from the kitchen quite fast.
The worst part of the night was we were seated at a table in the back of the restaurant near the restrooms. Every time someone opened the back door, we got an overwhelming smell from the restrooms - they must have put in new odor control items in the restrooms but they always smell like an institutional urinal cake and that is all we could smell - not very pleasant when trying to eat mediocre food. (or any food for that matter!)
With some guidance this place has potential but without the proper leadership I'm afraid this place won't last.
Fantastic restaurant! I was in town on business and my associate recommended we go there. I am a CIA grad w/ 20+ years experience as an Executive Chef. This was one of the finest meals I have had. There was attention to detail in every aspect of the restaurant. I loved the "Crunchy Veal Chop w/ Rocket and Heirloom Tomato Salad" All 4 of us loved the meal! I even called the restaurant the next evening to thank them for such a wonderful meal.
I was in LA on business and extend my weekends. Spent Saturday in Santa Monica and stopped here for lunch. Very disappointing! As mentioned in other reviews, the toppings looked and tasted old and the greens were not fresh at all. They stress huge salads but the size doesn't matter if the ingredients are terrible. The dressing I had was very bland and didn't do a good job of making up for the tasteless ingredients.I will not go back.
WOW! The only thing that surpasses their customer service is their cupcakes! I was hosting a large party and called SWEET to see what they could do for me. Since I was never at their shop (heard through word of mouth) I didn't know what to expect. I called their shop numerous times to get information and place my orders. Every interaction was a great customer service experience. I purchased 50 large cupcakes (individually boxed), a few dozen minis and 1 JUMBO cupcake. Everything about the order was perfect. The delivery was on time, the cupcakes tasted fantastic and the individually boxed cupcakes were perfect! They would transport well without tipping over! First Class all the way! I highly recommend this store to anyone! It was so good that I'm going to drive over next week to have some for my family and I love all the way in Longwood!
I was in town for the week and happened upon this place on my first day and ate there everyday! Fresh greens with assorted toppings - you create your own salad and it's tossed with homemade dressings! Yum! I loved the tuna and chicken salad wraps. Chicken salad with apples, pears, dried cherries.... The Chef owner is great and will custom make a salad for you!
