We had Sugar Mamas provide cupcakes and a cake topper for our wedding.
We had a free tasting of 6 cupcakes, and they were delicious. Olivia (owner) was extremely honest and hospitable and designer (forgot her name) was extremely flexible in how we wanted our cake to be designed.
The flavors we chose for our wedding were Southern Belle (red velvet), Odd Couple, Elvis, and Champion Carrot. They were a hit with our all of our guests with many people asking where we got our cupcakes.
We could not have been more pleased with both the cupcakes and the service.
We had Kristin from YWYW and she was awesome. My fiance and I were trying to plan our wedding from China and Kristin was literally a lifesaver. The month before our wedding she contacted all our vendors and sorted out all our contracts. She also contacted any of our friends we assigned as helpers and made sure they knew what to pick and where to be.
During the wedding day, she coordinated with all the vendors, the wedding party, and still got us food, water, etc. Whatever we needed, before and during the wedding, she helped us complete.
Lastly, she was extremely professional while being very friendly. Most of all, she wasn't overbearing or too forceful of people, which some coordinators can be.
My wife and I set up a group rate through a hotel contact. We agreed upon a rate of $135/night with free parking.
The day we checked in, the lady at the counter was extremely rude because she said we did not check on in Friday (we had changed our reservation from Saturday-Tuesday instead of Friday-Tuesday 2 weeks prior). She said that the hotel was full and the only reason she was considering giving us a room was because we were dressed up (we were still in our wedding attire). She then said you should bring a confirmation email from the hotel. I told her I have one and pulled out my phone with an email from our hotel contact. After she saw that she was much more polite and got us our room for $139/night (still not our agreed upon rate of $135/night)
The room was decent. You could probably stay at a nicer hotel for the same price further away from 6th. Pretty much the only reason to stay at the Sheraton is so that you are walking distance from 6th st. (which was not a perk for us considering we just got married). Parking lot was full on Saturday night - we had to find street parking next to the hotel. Also while trying to find parking in their lot we encountered a few drunk people, one of which decided to pee in the lot right after she got out of her car.
We found out, after we checked out, that they had charged our guests $171/night. Still disputing the room rate with them.
Nothing spectacular about this hotel. Personally, I'd probably stay at the W or the Hilton next time.
I am a UT Grad, not a one-time visitor of Austin.
The food was good for fast food. It's all about the chicken fingers, as the name suggests, and the service was nice. They charge for extra Cane sauce but the guy was nice enough to give us a couple of sauces for free. Place had a really nice college feel which seemed out of place in Sugar Land but a good change.
