We were on our way down the 5 to Corvallis and decided to get a bite to eat. What a pleasant surprise to find this place! The three of us had different entrees and we loved each bite. The server was helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Service is quick, food excellent, everything is clean, and the interior is nicely decorated. We unanimously agreed that our next drive by Salem would have to include a stop here!
With 2700 reviews and an average of 4 stars, we had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately, it was just ok food and very loud. We arrived just after it opened, so there weren't a lot of people and we could easily hear each other. By noon, it was about 2/3 full and loud. I can't imagine how loud it would be with a full house!
Pluses: it was clean and the food to the table was quick.
I'm sure many others have said something similar, but I have to say it anyway, "Stellar Coffee is simply STELLAR." We travel quite a bit and are always in the mood for some good morning coffee or espresso. The majority of places are either so-so or a big disappointment, but not Stellar.
My first impression, as I walked through the door, was that this place was clean and comfortable, like a great place to settle in for a cup of coffee. The woman at the register was friendly, helpful, and patient while explaining the food ordering method. The other woman working was equally lovely. I felt like they were genuinely happy to see us.
There are breakfast and lunch items on the menu. I don't know if there is a different menu for the evening, but what I saw on the menu would work just fine for dinner, too. You can order one of their preset menu items or totally customize a meal. My husband had a breakfast sandwich and enjoyed it. I customized a breakfast sandwich by switching out the bun for greens. It was freshly made and delicious!
The next time we go through Roswell, we'll be stopping at Stellar!
We saw the sign for this place when we happened to stop at the gas station next door and decided to check it out.
There were lots of Cajun offerings but all of them (unless I missed something) were breaded and deep-fried. Now, I know that is a typical preparation for Cajun food, but it isn't the only way to cook Cajun. I don't eat deep-fried, breaded food, so that meant I needed to look for something else.
Surprise! I found fajitas so ordered beef fajitas (without tortillas or rice) and steamed veggies (broccoli and zucchini). The flavor of the fajitas was excellent, but the beef was tough and chewy. Cutting it into small pieces made it edible. The broccoli was tasty but the zucchini soggy and flavorless.
My husband decided to go with the deep-fried, breaded catfish plate. He was disappointed, saying that the breading was greasy and very thick (though flavored nicely), and the catfish hiding inside of it was minimal. He wasn't that pleased with the sides, either, and ended up eating half my veggies.
The server was helpful and very nice and the place was clean. Beer and wine are available. Wine comes in small bottles. I don't recall the label but it is a cheap one so I didn't try it.
Bottom line: If you like breaded, deep-fried Cajun, you'll probably like this place a lot.
Best thing about this place was the server, who was very nice. Beyond that, the menu is pretty limited with not a spec of fruit anywhere on it. It's basically meat, eggs, and carbs. Coffee was hot but burned flavor. The quality of the food? I'm not a fan of either IHOP or Denny's, but both of these places offer food that is world's better.
