Theres not many late night diner options around other than Dennys. Brians finally brings that 24 hour east coast diner feel to sd. been here a handful of times and the food was great every time. great service. giant club is great. chicken and waffles are bomb. cant wait to try something new next time.
as far as diners in san diego go theres are few good options. nothing really that good and def nothing that compares to diners on the east coast. went in before a movie on a fri night. dead at 10 pm. 2 or 3 other tables and still took 5-10 mins to get drinks/order taken. food was bleh. wouldnt recommend or go back. Dennys/Marie Calendars is the same type of food but way better. i wouldnt say the waitress was rude, more like uncaring. you could tell she hated her job and couldnt wait to get off the clock. over all back experienced. one of the few 1 stars ive ever left on yelp.
as far as liquor stores go, this place is the best in this neighborhood. both guys are super polite, know the prices on all their items and have the best prices ive found. i always get a "thank you" when leaving which is rare for most stores, let alone a liquor store.
as far as the bums outside, they do a good job of keeping their door/area clear, being from new york city im used to the aggressive panhandlers so im not that bothered buy it. theyre doing some new freezer work so its looking like theyre going to have even more cold/chilled items in the near future.
best liquor store in town.
ive gone here twice in my life, both times ive gotten nothing but attitude from the guy behind the counter. different guy both times so at least its not just ONE rude person but the whole store. always starts with an attitude about me being of age, even after presenting my CA drivers license (im 27 btw) i dont mind my id being checked, i mind being asked if its a fake and given attitude when he believes it is a fake. then i made the mistake of using debit and hit the wrong pin number and he got an attitude claiming that now he has to pay a charge. i asked him what his problem was and he said something in another language so i told him to keep his shit ill go to one of the other 20 liquor stores in the neighborhood. he tried to tell me if i came back hed call the cops. GREAT customer service sir.
its not exactly a monopoly on liquor stores in san diego but this guy acts like his is the only place in town. i said i wouldnt go back after the first time, gave it 6 months and late on night decided to stop in and buy 2 beers and got the same attitude as the first time and not even a thanks when leaving.
worst liquor store ive been too, asshole behind the counter. and not even competitive pricing on most items. no thx buddy. not sure how this store has an A health rating when theres bugs on the ground both times ive gone in, shelves covered in dust and just in disarray.
good to know he treats his own store the way he trest his customers.
ill drive the extra 5 mins to go to Kings Liquor by Ralphs or Rosewood liquor off briarwood. both guys in those stores are polite and treat customrs as customers, not as annoyances.
4 stars for getting everything i ordered right every time. never had a complaint about this Jack in The Box. the only problem is hte long drive thru line sometimes. seems they have a higher DEMAND than they can supply but still a great JATB.
first vons ive been to where the rating was less than 3. but now i see why.
awful store. the only reason i waited on the line and didnt walk out is because they had TWINKIES, and me buying them = me winning a bet with some friends. otherwise i would have walked out. 2 lines open at 9pm on a FRI night. then another opened, and took whoever went first, EVERY other store takes the next customer. after 18 mins in line, with only 2 people in front of me, i finally got to pay, and the cashier didnt even say sorry for hte wait (at my job if check out takes more than 5 mins we say sorry, as an employee u just get used to saying it, this cashier (whose name tag said Supervisor) didnt even care enough to say sorry you waited for 30 mins. for a supervisor she talks way too much when the liens are backed up, when its slow, i agree, engage and make friends with your customers, when 3 lines are open and each line has 10+ people, shut up, and get your lines down. ill never return to this store. not worth the hassle.
well lets first say. working retail sucks. most of the time its a job ur just working to pay bills and get to the next step in your life. that said this Zumiez has some A+ employees. Tillys is the only store where u actually get greeted as you leave and enter EVERY time. this Zumiez is the next closest thing. Employees actually seem to like their jobs which is rare, and it shows. its rare to talk to an employee at a retail store, even less rare to actually have a conversation with one. Josh at this store is a super nice dude who seems really into the brands the store sells. nice guy who will gladly talk to you about the brands they sell.
