I give Barrio star at least 4 stars. My wife and I went with a restaurant.com certificate on a Saturday night around 8:45. The place was moderately busy, but not swamped . We ordered a Dos Equis and Margarita (or two) and they were served in about five minutes. Or plantain, avocado and carnitas app was delicious, very flavorful, but took 15 minutes to show up - no big deal. We ordered an assortment of tacos (you can mix and match) which were all really good - especially the steak tacos. They are three small tacos but come with rice, beans and cheese so enough food. The service (Sergio) was outstanding and friendly. The ambiance was solid. Overall, we were really happy we decided to try it out. We will go back.
As the son of a M.D., I had treated long standing low back issues through traditional western medicine - without much success. My wife and neighbors suggested I broaden my horizons and try Dr. Johnston. I have been going now for a couple years and my back problems are so much better. What I especially like is that I can maintain my back health on a maintenance schedule - rather than crisis after crisis. Dr. Johnston is very effective and effectively communicates what he is doing and why he is doing it. His office is both professional and personable. Glad I listened to my wife.
Just happened to walk by this place while walking down NW 21st street. What a great find. They were able to fit four of us in for dinner. We waited next door in Bar Mingo - which is their sister bar / tapas place next door (also really nice place) Front of the house people were really nice and kept updating us as to our pending table. When we sat down, waiter was attentive but didn't hover. He made a few recommendations - which we took. Best meal of the night was Sugo of Beef Penne Pasta - tender (short rib meat?) and tons of flavor. Also had roasted beets salad and pizza special (sweet peppers) All in all, great meal, really relaxing place and the people who run it are friendly and personable
This is the fourth time the past three and one half years that my wife and I have stayed at the Hotel DeLuxe. We really enjoy staying there. The front desk staff and valet staff are always personable and professional. They even went out to make sure my car was locked at midnight. The property is updated old school if that makes sense? It is very well maintained and exceptionally clean. The Driftwood Lounge in the lobby is a great old school bar with good food and great drinks. It is small and intimate. The King Feature rooms are great with a bit of a seating area. While the Queen and King Deluxe rooms are a bit tight, they are bright, well appointed and the beds are awesome. The location is only a few blocks walk from the Pearl District and downtown bars and restaurants (Grassa / Clyde Common / Gruner / Raven & Rose etc. - and much more quiet. Will definitely return.
My wife and I, and another couple, took the food tour of Pike's Market with Santori on Sept. 9, 2013. We have done food tours in DC and NYC - this one was the best and a really great time. Santori was funny and full of useful and interesting information. You could tell he liked his job and people. He took us to 7 or 8 diverse places - no repeats. We were given food samples and a story (and jokes) at each location. The Pike's Market tour didn't involve too much walking or stairs. I would really recommend Savor Seattle (and Santori) Everyone in our party felt the same - wonderful time.
Went last week and the pizza was well prepared and the place well run. Chees pizza only $6 and a pizza with a couple toppings $8.50 or so. Pizza only takes about 4 minutes to prepare. Pizza with cinamon and sugar was a hint overcooked. When it gets beer, will reach 5 star potential. Will definitely go back.
Recently went back with my wife and the place is still great. Wife had the Cod special and it was perfectly cooked. I had the Bistro Filet, which isn't actually a filet but is their version of Steak Frittes. I asked for medium and it was spot on medium. Very flavorful. Chef is great no matter what you order. Appetizers are unique and tasty. Always like this place everytime we go back.
Went here today for the first time and it was excellent. Thought it hadn't opened yet buy it is the space nextdoor with the paper in the windows. :-) Ordered the small soup (mushroom and brie) with a half pannini sandwich (turkey/cheddar/green/ blueberry preserves [sweet and savory] combo for $8 and it was delicious and plenty enough food. The soup had an unreal creaminess but not heavy. The pannini was awesome - grilled nicely and top quality ingredients. Was surprised how much I liked the blueberry preserves as I am a picky eater. People were really nice and friendly and the premises are comfortable and clean. It has a couple decks and parking in the rear. Is definitely in the food rotation.
I took my wife to dinner for her birthday on 7/31. Wedge salad was classic and good. Lobster bisque was hot, tasty and had a touch of goat cheese horseradish sauce as well as cayenne pepper for a little bit of bite - not bland like most. Our seafood (scallops, king crab and australian lobster tail) was perfectly cooked. Our waitperson, Ivan Bunster, was personable and professional. He really added to the meal. Nice atmosphere and the people seemed to care about putting out a great meal.
This past month I have left three e-mails and three voice mail messages with the owner, Vicki. She has not returned any of my communications. Wanted to stay with my family for my 50th birthday but will look elsewhere. No idea if its a nice place to stay as they refuse to answer my inquiries. Being rude is not a professional way to run a business
