My brother took us here for lunch on our last day in Dallas. After a long weekend of binge eating, I really didn't think I had any room left for all-you-can-eat Brazilian BBQ. I surprised myself. I had each type of meat that came around. The meat was very flavorful. I really like that they offered different varieties of the picanha; traditional, garlic, and spicy. Spicy picanha was my favorite. I had 3 servings of it.
At the end of the meal, I checked out the salad bar to see if anything was worth going to the gym for. I'm so glad I did because their chocolate & passion fruit mousse is heaven.on.earth. Even with a full stomach, I would have devoured the whole serving size bow!. Too bad there was only half a bowl left.
Overall, the food, service, and ambiance is comparable to Fogo de Chao and Texas de Brazil. The salad bar might be a bit smaller, but that really isn't an important factor for me. I would prefer to come back to Rafain's for 2 reasons; 1) the chocolate & passion fruit mousse and 2) the spicy picanha.
The juicy flavorful shrimp over rice with crab salad was just divine! This was easily one of my favorite meals on the island.
With a party of 6 in tow, we tried all the flavors. They were all good, but I enjoyed Spicy Pineapple the most.
I didn't want to wait for my next Maui trip for more, so we came back for 2nds before departing.
This was a must try for us when we discovered they combine your choice of homemade cookies and ice cream flavor to make an ice cream sandwich.
I LOVE tropical flavors, so I went with the Hula's Delight cookies (Coconut, Mango, Pineapple, and Mac Nuts) and coconut ice cream. It was heavenly!
I tried some of my niece's lychee ice cream and it had bits of the fruit in it. It was also really good.
I wish they had bite sizes so I could have tried other combinations.
On a last minute trip to Vegas, we were only able to get a deal at Luxor. Once we checked into the room I was very underwhelmed. I couldn't believe Priceline ranked this hotel 4 stars!
I expected the old decor, but the beds had motel type comforters with the fuzzy blanket underneath and only 2 flat pillows per bed. You can also feel the springs in the mattresses.
The hotel also charges a $15 resort fee which gets you 2 bottles of water/day, internet (cable plug), and newspaper (for pick up).
The pools are nice and good sized.
This hotel will suffice if you just want to be on the strip and don't care about where you sleep.
Chateau Margene was my favorite stop on our Paso Robles wine tasting trip. I enjoyed every wine on the tasting menu. I could have swirled the 2006 Paso Cuvee bottle all day for the aromas. This location just opened in November of 2009. The service was warm, friendly, and even attentive for a busy Saturday afternoon. We purchased their Pinot Noir to enjoy in their back patio area which overlooked the pond.
Our trip included all the great wineries listed below, but this one stood out to me.
This has been my go to place for Bun Bo Hue. They have a great menu selection, but I haven't been able to pass up on their Bun Bo Hue to try anything else. I've had Bun Bo Hue at popular places in San Jose and Santa Ana and theirs is ranked up there.
This restaurant is everything you expect in its category. No frills, fast service, and good food.
Thank goodness for YELP. I wouldn't have discovered this restaurant without all the good reviews about it.
I love tastings of different dishes when I dine out. Ichiza has quality tapas size dishes at very reasonable prices. For those reasons, this is now my favorite Japanese restaurant.
The BF and I shared:
yellowtail, salmon, mackerel, tuna, albacore sashimi combo
grilled smelt roe - fellow yelpers influence :)
fried oyster - I was craving the fresh oysters, but they were out :(
shrimp fried rice
The sashimi and uni were very fresh. After reading some of the reviews, I had to try the smelt roe. I didn't know how to eat the smelt roe, but shared the dish with another patron at the bar and watched him eat it first. It was tasty. All the dishes we ordered were yummy! I will definitely come back here on each Vegas trip.
