I went here for lunch today and I was very pleasantly surprised!! I am always a little wary of any place in the quarter that looks too "touristy" or has plated samples of the food displayed under saran wrap on the host podium out front - I mean come on! BUT just recently I have heard some great things from some of my more discerning friends so I thought I'd give it a whirl! I am so glad I did. Great atmosphere! The space is really open with a lot of light and all the french doors created a nice cross breeze even though was 95 degrees outside! Very pleasant and relaxing. It's a perfect people watching spot. I sat at the bar and had a lovely conversation with the very attentive bartender then I ordered the Spinach Salad with Blackened Scallops and I dare say it was EXCELLENT!
The only complaint - there are no special lunch prices and they don't have a "Happy Hour!" :(
I know that this place has been around forever and that it's a local spot and something of a New Orleans "staple" or so I am told but I was highly unimpressed. The location is spectacular and the service was very good but the food was uninspiring and just blah... It was worth going once to try something new but I will not be going back again and I don't recommend it unless you are totally out of other options.
This place was recommended to me by the shoe shine guy who works on Royal St across from the Monteleone. I accidentally went the the place up the street... BIG MISTAKE! When I finally made it here I was so incredibly impressed. Not only are they professional, they are also fast AND fairly priced! They have now repaired 8 different pairs of my shoes and done a fantastic job with each pair! Everything from Christian Laboutin to Jimmy Choo to Cole Haan! They are awesome!
Oh, and I almost forgot! I had a fabulous pair of zebra print satin stilettos that had become dingy, and several shades from their original lustrous white, after all of my fantastic nights on the town. I brought them in for a heel repair and they suggested a shampoo. My beautiful shoes are as good as new!
My first time at Bar Vin was almost as magical as the first time Veuve Clicquot touched my lips. I was so overwhelmed when I stepped into this charming little slice of heaven that I could hardly believe my eyes. I never could have imagined that something so classy, unique, and CLEAN could exist two doors down from Bourbon! The gorgeous decor carefully selected by Patrick himself is comfortable and welcoming and for a moment, I felt like I could have been at a lounge back in Beverly Hills. From the baby grand piano to the Veuve Clicquot ice buckets... and is that a Veuve Clicquot shopping cart???? I am hooked!
I am now a regular and I like to slip in for a glass of wine (or two) after work. The bartenders are friendly and more than accommodating and the people I've met tend to be classy, professional, types and each time I've been in I've made a new friend or two. The wine list is excellent and let's not forget the Chopin MARTINI'S! One of the few bars in the New Orleans where they understand that the best martini's are made with potato vodka!
Bar Vin... Where have you been all my NOLA life???
My favorite restaurant in the city! The filet with the buerre blanc sauce is UNREAL! The lamb is to die for! The baked brie app is just awesome! The wine list is really good too. It is one of the few restaurants with a really good Pinot Noir selection. The ambiance is intimate and romantic and the service is wonderful as well! I could go on and on.
The staff here is wonderful! The doctor saw me quickly and they were able to do my follow up for me since my doctor couldn't fit me in right away. Great service. Great Care!
I thought this place was great!! We sat outside and had a light dinner and margaritas while a live jazz trio played. Everyone is right.... the margaritas are outstanding!! I was highly impressed with them! The food was typical mexican and as good as any other mexican restaurant in New Orleans (if not better for some dishes.) I mean, let's face it, we are not in Arizona or Southern Cali here people!! I loved it.
I will be going back soon and I suggest that anyone who wants to have some good food, great margaritas and rockin' live music, needs to check this place out!!
I was referred to Dr. Garret after going to and Urgent Care. I had a condition that was more painful than anything I possibly could have imagined. She was very kind and had a warm, pleasant, bedside manner. She was extremely empathetic to my condition and listened compassionately to all of my complaints. She is, honestly, one of the best and brightest GP's I have seen!
You would never know when passing this little shack on the corner of Tchoup what treasures are waiting for you inside. The casual, laid back, atmosphere is very comfortable and the food is simply to die for!!
If you come to New Orleans DO NOT miss Dick and Jenny's!!
The escargot and mushroom appetizer is one of the most fantastic dishes from here to Paris!
