B-Dama moved but the food is just as delicious as its former location* and a little bit cheaper even.
It's not quite as cozy as its former location on Piedmont, but it's still a great spot for fresh sashimi, soothing udon broths, and expertly grilled fish and things.
Welcome to Old Oakland B-Dama! I hope you like your new home.

Super fun store to explore! There's so many goodies crammed into this small store including great gifts like t-shirts with sea monsters and super cool moleskin notebooks. Plus, all proceeds go to an extremely worthy cause: 826 Valencia's field trip and tutoring programs that work to get students aged 6 - 18 excited about writing.
The staff is also super friendly and volunteers get a 15% discount if you need more incentive to volunteer with this fantastic organization.
Deschutes doesn't seem to need another 5-star review, but I really wanted to leave one because of how extremely kid-friendly they are. I was so pleasantly surprised with how accommodating they were of my baby nieces! Even though it was a Saturday afternoon, they gave us a big, spacious table and didn't rush us at all. They also provided crayons and paper, a plastic cup with a straw for water, and thought to ask if we wanted her kid-sized pizza brought out with the appetizers. Just stuff that I wouldn't have thought was important until my nieces came along.
Of course there's tons of perks for adults too like great beers (even a few that are brewed in-house) and tasty food. Would love to come back next time I'm in Portland (with or without the kiddos).
The Levi's store and I got off to a rough start, but it ended up being one of the most pleasant shopping experiences I've ever had. First, I didn't know how to open the door (it's tricky!), then I didn't know that this location only sold men's apparel (yeah...I probably should've known..). However, I truly enjoyed my experience shopping here because of Michael. He was amazingly helpful, genuinely funny and really honest. He helped me find a pair of jeans that fit me perfectly and are comfier than any pair of women's jeans that I own, though not before telling me that one pair that I tried on looked like "old dad jeans." :)
Overall, a fantastic store with super friendly and helpful customer service.
Solid burgers with a plethora of free toppings including sauteed mushrooms and fried onion strings. YUM! Plus, the buns certainly tasted like they were freshly baked and even the whole wheat bun was very soft and moist. Service was really fast and friendly despite the long line.
The fries and milkshakes were also deliciously satisfying and everything is very reasonably priced.
For vegetarians, they offere a black bean veggie burger that's quite tasty! It's a much more substantial option than a grilled cheese from In-N-Out.
Five stars for great beer selection, friendly service, and really delicious food made with seasonal ingredients at reasonable prices! Hooray! Make sure you try the fresh baked bread with the complimentary balsamic vinegar and oil. It's quite unique and super tasty.
The taproom and restaurant is a beautiful space. The outdoor patio is quite lovely though as you can imagine sometimes it is still rather warm out there despite the shade.
I haven't been on the tour yet, but hopefully one of these days. :) I've been to the Big Room for a private event though and it was the perfect venue for a rambunctious party. I imagine it would be a phenomenally intimate concert venue!
What a beautiful space to visit for free! It's really interesting to see all the great work that the foundation is doing. They are certainly coming up with some creative ways to tackle some incredibly difficult problems.
I think it's also a really great place to take children and young adults to teach them about volunteerism and inspire them to want to use their skills to help make a difference. There's a bunch of thought-provoking interactive workstations including a nifty quiz to help you figure out your strongest skill.
Definitely worth a visit! Did I mention that it's free?
I've been back to the Barrel Room multiple times now and have tried some wine and loads of the amazing food. Chef is truly gifted and everything I've ever eaten has been fantastic. Unfortunately, it's hard to recommend specific things since the menu is always changing. But I have full faith in the chef and would happily eat anything he prepares.
If you hurry, you can try some of the jamon from Spain! It's awesome.
PLUS, if you like the wine you tried, you can buy it from them at RETAIL prices!
Beautiful, beautiful space. I'm so happy to see someone finally make use of this beautiful old building. And what a great use!
Much like other Blue Bottle locations, the wait can be a little long since they're making your delicious cup just for you. Here, they also have fantastic pastries including a pretzel roll filled with gruyere cheese. Yum! It was absolutely delightful!
Plus, the affogatos feature Ici ice cream so you don't have to go all the way to Elmwood for your Ici fix.
Welcome to the neighborhood and thank you for breathing new life into the W.C. Morse building! I've been waiting a long time. :)
PS - It is true that there are no outlets or wifi and not a ton of seating as some people have mentioned. But that's okay with me! Just leave your computer at home and enjoy this beautiful spot.
