I don't often give out 5 stars, but this place deserves it! My 2004 Toyota Echo needed some exhaust work done - and the Maryland State Inspection. Last week I got a quote for the exhaust system that was almost $1400, so I decided I had better get the inspection now and find out what else I needed - and decide if I was even going to keep the car at all.
David at the desk is helpful, courteous, and honest about pricing and how long the work will take. When my inspection came back he told me what the car needed, and even told me which of the repairs were simple enough to do at home and save a few $$$ - even double-checked when I said I'd rather just have the shop do it. And when I said I was going to get my tires from Costco he was honest about whether or not he could match their pricing, and didn't push me to get them from the shop.
The waiting room is clean and pleasant, all the mechanics are friendly and courteous. Best of all, I came in expecting to need $1500 or more of work and they told me all I needed was a gasket and a few other minor repairs - less than $300 total including the inspection!
The inspection here is $80 - more than some other places, I know. But because I had the repairs done here I didn't need to get a second inspection to prove I passed - and the repairs were done on time, when they said they would be. I'll be coming back - and would recommend them to anyone!
This cozy cafe has all the charming touches you could hope for, plus organic ice cream made in-house. The pie we ordered was great, and everything else we saw looked fresh. The owners took over a 100+ year old shoe shop and kept signage, etc. and made it their own.
Really good burgers, great fries, and awesome milkshakes with actual made in-house whipped cream - none of that fake stuff that comes in the aerosol cans. Even better... when I talked to the manager, DJ, about a minor concern, he was awesome. No restaurant is perfect, but a restaurant that knows how to deal with customer problems will always get me to come back. Note for my Chicago peeps: Chicago location opening soon!
I can't recommend this place at all. "Memphis pit BBQ" implies BBQ - and smoked meat. There was no sign of smoke anywhere on our 5-meat sampler plate. The beef brisket was so tasteless and texture less I think it may have been boiled. Pulled pork and chicken were slightly better - but I've had more flavorful chicken from costco's rotisserie.
Positives: Alex, our server, was great; good sides - the hush puppies were really great... and a huge draft microbrew for just $7.
Maybe I'll come back - and just order beer and hush puppies.....
Fresh, flavorful food with options for everyone - vegetarian, vegan, meat-eaters, gluten-free included. Don't miss the flavorful jams and spreads made in-house, or mimosa options way beyond the usual oj. Outdoor patio seating, friendly service and generous happy hour specials make it even more inviting - don't miss the cooler by the door for dips and spreads to take home.
I think they've gone out of business?
We've used them for several years for my work, and they've mostly been great. Sometimes slow, but always reliable. About a year ago it started to go downhill. They notified us that we hadn't been billed for all our past services - some of which were a year prior! I started to have a hard time scheduling pick ups. And recently, I couldn't get through to anyone at all - nor can our accounting department!
I hate to do it, but I'll have to start looking for a new cleaning service. :(
The #1 reason to come here is the outdoor dining area. Once you step outside, you'll forget that you are just minutes from the Loop. High walls and lots of trees almost completely disguise the busy city intersection, leaving just a sliver of skyscrapers and sky showing above the wooden fence.
Food here is good, sometimes even excellent - but once you've have the peach salad or the porchetta sandwich, you wonder why everything isn't that good - because the kitchen is clearly capable. I'll be back for the lasagna bolognese, but will skip some other dishes that seemed bland or uninteresting by comparison (pizza with prosciutto, pork milanese). The special that day, tagliatelle with salmon, tomatoes and olives, was a failure of great ingredients, but mis-matched flavors.
Still, I'll come back, even if I have to order carefully, just to experience the outdoor dining area again.
Sometimes, I wish I lived in the 'burbs.
I stumbled in recently and found my favorite grain free pet food, in the hard-to-find larger size bags. Not only were they helpful and courteous, they got me signed up for their frequent buyer program right away (if you're a pet owner, you know that $250 is not hard to spend on quality pet food!). They held onto my 20# bag while I shopped around, then offered to *carry it to my car* if I just honked from the curb.
Seriously? I didn't honk - I couldn't get myself to do it - but they still insisted on carrying it for me.
After dealing with stores that won't return calls, don't carry what I want, and have to special order it every time, I'll be back. It's a trek for me, but I think I'll be making most of my future purchases here!
