I'm from southern California so my standards for Mexican fare is pretty high. My family and I stopped by last week while vacationing in Angels Camp and we were delighted with the quality of the food and the fantastic flavors of our dishes. I had the Barbacoa burrito, my wife a chicken salad, and my two girls split a bean and cheese burrito. I must say that my burrito was even better than the one I usually get from the 3 Amigos near my home. The beer selection was quite impressive and the establishment itself was nicely renovated but still held the yesteryear charm of the building by leaving the old stone walls exposed (I believe the building predates 1900).
The only complaint I have it that my wife's salad came with beef instead of chicken, she loved it anyway, unfortunately we didn't discover this until we arrived back at where we were staying. Also, we would have eaten in the restaurant and enjoyed a beer or two, but we had our 9 month old daughter with us and the only high chair that they had was broken. Their hours are also pretty limited but it is a very small and quiet town. We originally wanted to eat there once we got into town on Monday afternoon but they were closed for the day. I believe they're closed Sundays as well.
Other than that I can assure you my taste buds are just waiting for the next time we get to visit Angels Camp so I can try more menu items and maybe even a beer or two.
