This place is great for a quickie mani/pedi in the Loop. The Manager is really friendly and accomodating. Good polish selection and a lot of people working, so typically no matter how crowded it is, you can still get in with minimal wait. Bonus points that they play nature shows on the flat screens.
Cindy rocks. I love it that I can schedule my appointments online. It's super convenient and online scheduling is something that seems to rarely be an option with independent beauty professionals. So, love that. But what I really love is how my skin looks after one of Cindy's facials! I really don't know what she does exactly, but the end result is bright, clear and glowing skin. Her prices are very reasonable and the location (for those that work in the Loop) can't be beat.
My fiance and I visited Lester when shopping for engagement rings last year. First class experience all the way. Very knowledgeable staff and GORGEOUS and unique pieces. My fiance purchased a custom designed engagement ring as well as a wedding band. I constantly get compliments on my ring and people tell me that they've never seen another ring quite like mine. That is the reason you go to Lester Lampert.
We stayed here for 5 days earlier this month. Great experience all around. Beautiful resort, great food in the restaurants, friendly bartenders, amazing (and free!) golf courses, comfortable bed. All around top-notch. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is because the air-conditioning in our room wasn't very good. It appeared to be functional, however our room felt "room temperature" the whole time. It was hot and humid outside, so the lack of effective air-conditioning was bothersome.
This place is just bizarre. Subterranean location in an abandoned food court. It's so odd. They have like 2 people working and while they are efficient, the lines are still super long. The coffee is what you'd expect, it's just not fun standing on line in a bomb shelter.
Went to Jenn for a spray tan before my wedding last month. Hands down, the best spray tan I've ever had. Perfect, even color that actually lasted for 2 weeks! Jenn is brilliant with that little gun thing, and she'll give you an amazing glow. There is a reason that all the visiting celebs get their golden glow from Jenn!
I hired Carley Martin to do my hair and makeup for my wedding in May 2013. She came highly recommended to me by a friend who hired her for her wedding last year. Carley was an absolute delight to work with, and she is an incredibly talented professional. During my trial session with Carley, I showed her some pictures and described some ideas I had about the way I wanted to look on my wedding day. She nailed the look in just 1 try! I was sold and knew I had to have her help on my big day. I was absolutely thrilled with the final result. There are no words to describe how beautiful I felt on my wedding day, and I have Carley to thank for that! I loved the way I looked, and that translated to being a very confident bride. So many guests complimented my hair and makeup, and I have never felt more beautiful. I just reviewed proofs of my wedding photos, and they look fantastic. I wish I could have Carley work her magic on me everyday! She is the absolute best.
I came here on Saturday night with the BF, and we had a great meal and overall, very good experience. Our reservations were at 8:30, but we had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated. The place was jam packed. We didn't mind though, as we quickly found seats at the bar. The bar has some really great specialty cocktails, I had a tequila one (can't remember the name), and it was quite tasty. The house Pinot Noir was also excellent. For our dinner, we split the Caprese salad (good, but pretty standard dish) and for our entrees, I had a rigatoni with italian sausage and red sauce and my BF had a pork medallion special. My dish was fine...not a ton of flavor...but I ordered something boring, so my fault. The BF's dish was AMAZING and quite a large portion. Thankfully, enough to share with me since I kept requesting bites! They accidentally brought the BF sea scallops instead of the pork, and so they took his entree off our bill entirely. We didn't even make a fuss about them bringing the wrong dish as we were in no hurry. It was very nice, and above and beyond, for sure. We will be back.
Fantastic winery. The setting is spectacular. Jaw dropping, really. The wines were some of the best we sampled that day. They have a bordeaux (can't recall the name) that will blow your mind. The woman pouring the wines was absolutely lovely. I appreciated that she took the time to educate us on her wines and what they'd pair nicely with. At no point did we feel rushed, even though they were pretty crowded. We bought a few bottles and I can't wait to crack them open. This winery is a must visit!
The wines were pretty good. The setting is BEAUTIFUL. We bought several bottles. My only gripe - and it's a large one - is that the woman pouring the wines was extraordinarily rude. She barked at us for telling her which wines we wanted to try as a list, rather than one at a time (our bad, other wineries we'd visited asked for all the wines we wanted to try at the beginning of the tasting). She barked at me for having my purse on the bar. There were several open spots all around us, and I really didn't think it was a big deal. I'm from Chicago - I like to keep my purse where I can see it. Again, my bad. I moved my purse with a smile on my face. Then, she sneered at me for pronouncing the name of a wine incorrectly. This was way out of bounds, especially as I wasn't directing my comment at her, I was having a one on one conversation with my boyfriend. This woman ruined our experience at Karma Vista, and she was certainly the rudest person we'd come into contact with on our winery tour. She shouldn't be allowed in a customer-facing position. Maybe there is a job in a back room where she can keep her misery to herself. For the owners - we were there on Sunday 9/2 between 4-5. She has red hair. You should talk to her about her attitude problem - it's a real buzz kill. If not for her, this would be a 5 star review.
